The restaurant was closed even though we had a confirmed reservation and we were asked to sit in the hotel lobby near the bar to have brunch. It was weird eating while people in outdoor clothes were going around with their luggage
Apparently we were there off season and the dining room wasn't open. Food was good, service was great (thanks Liza) but we had to sit in the bar area. I would go back again.
We arrived and the restaurant was locked. We were unable to dine there, even though we had made the reservation and it was confirmed. Very disappointing.
Aside from the accommodating manager, this was the most unusual dining experience we have ever experienced! We made reservations through Open Table for 630pm. When we arrived at 630, the restaurant was locked (this is a restaurant in a hotel). We inquired and the manager was summoned. He insisted that we could have dinner, unlocked the door and sat us down. The bar tender then became our waiter and took our drink orders. The menu was entirely different than what was listed on Open Table! The manager offered some excuse that the restaurant was under new management but no explanation why our reservation was not recognized or why the restaurant was not open on a busy Saturday evening. This was an out of body experience! I would request that Open Table investigate what is going on.
Menu was completely different from the one
Shown on open table.
Atmosphere was inexistent.
Food was good.
Would definitely NOT Recommend this so called
I’ve dined several times here and was craving their steak.
Maybe it’s because I dined at a late hour; however, the food was not good at all. The steak was over and under cooked, the sauce was off and the potatoes were a weird kind of chewy.
I will dine again, but stay away from the steak.
The eggs used today were different than those I had the day before.
Everything else was wonderful!
The restaurant was empty so it struggled a bit in terms of atmosphere. Decor was nice and food was good.
Restaurant wasn’t open? Just at bar?
The reservation for 5pm was made via OpenTable; the restaurant was not scheduled to open until 5:30 pm according to the menu outside. We were there at 5:30; the door was still locked. we were there until 5:40 and the door was STILL locked. Can't say anything about the food, but the service (in terms of just getting into the restaurant) was lousy. I will not give it another chance without some serious need.
More people need to know about this well kept secret. Great food, great service and great ambiance.
I was super impressed by every single dish. Wow!!!
Basic hotel restaurant. Not a good brunch spot.
New chef. Very exotic menu, hidden gem!
Nice quite atmosphere, good location from MIT
Everyone at Amuse went out of their way to make our evening special. The Chef came to our table to check in with us and congratulate our son. Best hot baguettes we've ever had at any restaurant. Comprehensive updated menu with something for everyone. This restaurant should be more difficult to get into. I think it's easier access is due to being situated in the beautiful but business oriented Meridian.
What a joke. Neither the waiter nor the manager could answer even the most basic question about the wine on the menu. The waiter's clothes were filthy and he smelled so strongly of B.O., it was breathtaking. The place was filthy and the staff were inhospitable. I felt more like i was in a chintzy airport hotel than in cambridge. We left before we ordered and had to suffer through a meal. Take out and a good bottle of wine at home were far better than suffering through an evening in this awful place.
I would not recommend this restaurant. It is INSANELY overpriced for the level of food and service. $45 pp very mediocre brunch, especially in Cambridge.
The food was pretty bad. Unimaginative and not well prepared. Statler chicken came out dry, served with a side of crasins and a dried apricot. It was a little bizarre. Crab cake was fishy; definitely tasted like there was some cheap fish-filler in there.
At 6:30pm on a Thursday, the restaurant was empty. The bar area was a little better, but not by much.
Nice decoration and space but unfortunately empty! Maybe need mor time to be better evaluate! Food not for foodies not home cooking... need time to find their foot.
Quite place, good food
Didn’t end up eating here. Was taken back a bit to learn this was the lobby of a hotel. While there was a restaurant section, the host wasn’t too interested in opening it up. This colored the experience so the menu really just looked like expensive hotel food. We went elsewhere.
They accepted/confirmed our reservation a day in advance -- but when we arrived the restaurant was closed. They told us they could seat us at "the bar" (aka the in the hotel lobby). The bar staff seemed to think this was quite normal.
In fact, I'd seen a few reviews that said, "the place didn't look like the photos", so I assume this is what happened to those reviewers also. Bottom line is, the experience was very odd, and very disappointing, and a giant pain as we then had to find a real restaurant. As in: one that was actually open.
We made our reservation at Amuse for Valentine's dinner. When we arrived the main dining room was closed and there was no one to check in with. It seemed like it might be possible to get something to eat at the bar in the lobby of the hotel, but it was certainly not what we had expected for a special dinner. We left. Won't be going back.
Completely different food than was on open table menu. Nothing was French. Very ordinary food and very disappointing. Food was stands hotel fare and overpriced
The picture of the restaurant in the picture is dishonest. Shame on the hotel and on open table. On arriving, we were told that the pictured room was only for breakfast and lunch. We were seated in a mostly empty area between the bar and the elevators. Nobody told me that we were eating in the hotel lobby. Food was fine but that does not overcome my disappointment at the bait and switch. I was out with a friend who was looking for a celebratory dinner.
I now see that there were lots of reviews saying the same thing. I wish that open table and the hotel had the integrity to put a real picture of the space on the site.
We came here for brunch. Did not have a good experience from the start. The server nor the manager knew what guilt city was (i.e. groupon or livingsocial kind of deal). It took about 30min for them to figure it out which meant that we didn't even order for 30min while we sat there. When we did order, it took the food about 25 min to come out. Brunch food should not take longer than 10-15, there was barely anyone dinning there or eating the buffet. We got the french toast and eggs benedict. The french toast said it came with real maple syrup but what I got was the fake stuff. When I asked the chef about it she had no idea what I was talking about so I gave up and just ate it without any condiment. Food was nothing fancier than I could make at home. Bloody marry was more like tomato juice and way too much horseradish. Service was pretty terrible. I would not come here again.
It's in the lobby of a hotel. Food was good but be prepared to be the only one dining. It's mostly a bar. Service was good food was fine decor not so much.
An outright bait and switch. This so-called "French Bistro" is nothing more than the lobby cafe in the Hotel Meridien. The food was passable but the ambiance was horrible.
Food was good, but pricey, and it was completely empty. On my own, so it felt very weird eating there all alone!!
Maybe there is a dinner/breakfast rush that I am missing?
Buen RESTAURANTE en el Hotel Le Meridien
NICE Restaurant inside the Le Meridien Cambridge Hotel
The Hamburgers at the Bar are fantastic.
Very good Hotel restaurant.
To relax and have a good breakfast or lunch.
The doors were locked when we arrived for our 12:30 PM Mother's Day reservation (though there were a few diners inside) and we were told that we would have to dine in the hotel lobby instead of the restaurant. We were allowed in to the restaurant only after I firmly objected. The food and service were both of poor quality. I will never return to this restaurant or recommend it to others.
Menu on Open Table was outdated. Many items were no longer offered😕
The restaurant was closed (and deserted) at the time of our reservation!
Very limited menu. Food mediocre. What else is there to say?
Although a dinner menu is posted on line, there is no restaurant , just dinner menu served in bar and elevator space. Bar also services room service delivery. Certainly not a place as a destination meal - maybe neighborhood, or if staying at hotel. Understaffed before 6:00, then ok. (We were trying to eat early to make a movie). Kitchen also seemed slow to provide food.
We were the only diners. Wish them success.
We made a reservation here through Open Table for Thanksgiving day a week in advance. The only time that was available was 4:30pm.
A few things we noticed upon arrival:
1. The restaurant is in a hotel
2. There were maybe three people seated in the restaurant
3. There was a breakfast buffet table left out
4. No one was interested in actually serving us
After waiting around for 10 minutes or so, we took off.
