Amuse at Le Meridien - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
I usually order a beet and argula salad with chicken BUT they didn't have that on the menu but instead there was a new option called Tuscan Kale? It was delicious. The only bad thing was that I had ordered the salad with chicken but my server gave me shrimp (which I'm allergic to). They replaced it promptly and it was fine. The grilled chicken was an excellent add to my kale salad with pomegranate dressing. My business associates had a decent chopped salad but nothing special. We had ordered and requested to be served quickly so we could leave in less than an hour as they had a train to catch and I had a meeting right after and they were able to accommodate. We did have to flag our server down a few times BUT it was lunch rush hour and raining outside so the place was naturally packed as there are not many other good options in Rosslyn. It's a regular spot for me since it's posh and clean and right across from my office so convenient and the food is pretty good most of the time. It's a reliable go to spot. They also renovated recently so it's bright, clean and spacious feeling. I do have to say that you should be careful with your credit card. Me and another co worker had found fraudulent charges on our credit cards from this place and I had not gone for months. I think it's some disgruntled employee but who knows!! I would not use my credit card here again.
One of the few places in Rosslyn where you can have an "order-off-the-menu" business lunch. Very nice atmosphere, good food and service. Reservations appear to be a must or you'll be sitting at a high table near the entrance. Overall, a nice experience for lunch.
Amuse is a nice restaurant, but for a group of 12 at lunch, I would not recommend. Took almost 20 minutes or more for someone to take our order. then we waited another 45 minutes to receive our food. luckily we blocked an hour and a half for lunch, but it still required that most people have to quickly scarf their food down to get to their upcoming appts. Service for this group lunch was a big let down. I will say that it appeared to be our server. The tables around us - who arrived after us - all received their food before us and were done before us. they all also had a different server than we had.
I had a lunch meeting with a professor and potential client and I was seated after a long line of people with reservations. It was raining so incredibly packed!! Normally it's half full since there are so many options around in the Rosslyn area but not really convenient sit-down spots. I had the arugula and beet salad and added some grilled chicken with honey and thyme dressing and it was delicious! So much arugula - I can never really finish. The service was good despite it being insanely busy. We did have to remind them to bring more bread and olive oil since it took a while to get our food but again their kitchen was super busy and it was peak hour for lunch at 12:30. I'd say go earlier or a little later. By 1:45 - the place emptied out very quickly! Great decor and spot for lunch!
I come to Amuse a lot because it is right next to my employer. However, yesterday I had a series of unfortunate events that ruined the breakfast for myself and my three colleagues. No hostess greeted us to take our reservation, so after 10 minutes, my party sat in the dining room. We received service, but the restaurant was not crowded yet it still took over 40 minutes to get served. By the time we were served, my party all had to leave as the whole transaction took longer than 50 just to get yogurt, pancakes, and a bagel. The server was nice and apologetic, however, nothing was comped even though as soon as we were served, we all had to leave. I was very disappointed with this experience.
Can see how this place could be cool after work for drinks or if your staying at the hotel looking for a hotel bar/lounge. Nice indoor/outdoor flow. That said, the lunch menu was limited to burgers, flatbreads...seemed the only thing to eat with a fork was a salad. The spot is best suited for hanging out rather than a business lunch. Shame as restaurants in the Roslyn area are limited. Was hoping this one would fit the bill.
Had lunch at Amuse and love the views. It was a business lunch so short and sweet-not surprised the server was less than stellar. It was kind of a curmudgeon server day…I don't think the hotel restaurant service matches the hotel service as Le Meridien is top notch! For what it's worth its a nice lunch spot and haven't tried dinner. We may return for a dinner just to give it a try. Special note go on Friday's, outside they give away free ice cream and the seating outside is really communal. The only real negative is parking-difficult and expensive without a validation discount even when dining in the restaurant. Overall will try again! Simple food, good atmosphere, great outdoor space…..
Although the hostess wasn't always present at times, once you get a table, the servers are always there when you need something!! Love the outdoor seating and the spot in Rosslyn. It's definitely a hidden gem since it's part of the La Meridien Hotel and you can't see if if you're on the ground level. The patio is just splendid. Ideal for large or small parties. I think the space makes intimate small groups a definite pleasure (especially during the amazing summer evenings in DC when it's not humid).
This is the place to go for a fancier lunch in Rosslyn, partly because I work across the terrace but also because it provides a nice setting and slower pace to the rush hour lunch period. My boss took me out to lunch and I made the reservations in less than 5 minutes and with only about 8 minutes to go before our 12:15 reservations. I got the arugula and beet salad and added some chicken and that was around $20 for a salad. My boss got the strawberry and salmon salad and only had ONE strawberry in the salad. She was annoyed about the skiminess of the strawberry especially since it's in season but maybe they were running low. My salad was pretty good. There was A LOT of arugula and plent y of beets but I wish it was more half and half so I could get more beets. Overall - it was pretty good, and service was pretty well paced and we had a nice private little corner so we could chat about work and were able to hear ourselves speaking.
I went to Amuse at 8p. The dining area is beautiful. Everyone who came to my table was very pleasant (two waiters, a busboy and a manager all stopped by, as the restaurant was not busy). I did have to give my order twice and the check had to be asked for, after I waited for someone to come as my meal progressed. The Study in Beets appetizer was superior. The Chicken under Brick entree was greasy and seasoned okay only. They may move faster during lunch service or dinner rush. Bottom line, lovely ambiance. Would recommend if the atmosphere is important, with fairly competent cooking, a friendly staff, and a leisurely pace - but not extremely good food or a quick meal.
Been here many times for business lunches. The food is consistently good, but the service can be inconsistent based on the crowd. This particular day it was crowded and the service was very slow. It didn't matter how much of a hurry we were in, the food just wasn't coming.
Chef Tony Von Kong and his team did a wonderful job. My parents and my brother came here for Mother's Day - our first time to Amuse - so we didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food very good (it was buffet style and all of the items were quality items - shrimp, seared tuna, NY strip, miso fish, chicken marsala, lobster bisque) but it was presented very well. It was appreciated that the stations were kept neat, replenished regularly, even right up until we left at ~ 3pm) and we loved the carved fruit displays. Whoever knew you could carve a Madonna and Child into a watermelon! :-) We are world traveling foodies and have been to our share of AYCE brunches and try to keep it upscale - and this fit the bill and at a reasonable price ($40 per person). The service was very good, everyone was friendly and all tables have a nice view of Georgetown. We would certainly return for brunch with family and friends. Thank you, Amuse!
I booked a reservation at Amuse as a back-up for Mother's Day Brunch. We were all pleasantly surprised at the experience. The food was great! There wasn't a huge crowd. The view and ambiance was spectacular! We had a great experience and I'm definitely looking forward to my next experience.
The food was fair, but there was nothing special or interesting about the menu or the preparation. The touted view was also less than spectacular, as much of it is obscured by the wall around the terrace.
Overall, about what you would expect from a hotel restaurant in an office park, not from a hotel with so many other dining options in walking distance.
I love this restaurant for new hire employee lunch. The amostphere is nice and relaxing. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and always make great recommendation. The staff is very attentive to our needs and always accomodate my request for a quiet table. The service is fast and the food is great!
This restaurant did not come up to the quality I would have expected for Le Meridian. It was nothing more than a standard hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, the bar tender did not have ingredients for the cocktails we ordered, but did not tell the waiter, who forgot we ordered them, so we never got our cocktails or a chance to order something different. These were cocktails actually listed on their special handcrafted menu, so they should have had the necessary ingredients. When we asked for the check, we pointed out that we never got our cocktails, asked to be sure they were not on the check, and then the waiter tried too hard to give us a substitute cocktail, but we were ready to leave. The food was nothing special, but was ok. It was late in the evening, but we came on time for our reservation. The restaurant was almost completely empty, but I don't think that this or the late hour should be the reason for these kind of service errors.
The hostess did not welcome me with a smile. She also struggled to speak English, and did not know what Open Table is. I was surprised, given my lunch was $20 plus tip. The restaurant seems to be going through alot of turnover with wait staff. Hope they get their act together, because it is a good location and venue.
Overall it was very average and very expensive for what you get. There are so many great places to eat in this area so I recommend choosing any of those. I picked this for the view and in spite of the place being basically empty (it was a Monday) we were placed at a table with a fairly poor line of sight to the river and city. The menu was limited, the food was bland and the serving sizes were very small. The bill for 2 entrees and 2 cocktails came to $85-ish before tip.
Good luck finding the place without asking someone. Good luck being seated with no one at the host stand, and good luck not being overcharged wth fake tip amounts being charged.
Still waiting for my call back from Doug the Manager to refund the overcharged tip which the waiter had some guts to try and pull.
