The staff and ambience are very nice. The hostess was very accommodating in allowing me to wait for the guest accompanying me since she was running a little late. Unfortunately, my guest had to pack her lunch and take it with her back to work to attend a meeting because it took too long for the food to come to the table.
They were perfectly capable of accepting the OpenTable reservation but failed to inform us that they also closed the restaurant for a private party. No idea if its any good or not but I won't be going there again since there is no reason to trust that they have any idea if their facilities are booked or available.
Hadn’t been in years
Much to my delight we discovered a long time ( over 24 years) waiter Tony who was at the Rosslyn staple Tivoli’s. It was a wonderful reunion with the same excellent service. He has his pulse on what to order and makes sure a good meal and good time is had by all.
Hi team - I am alittle disappointed about the service at Amuse. I made a lunch reservation for an important business meal and then physically went to the restaurant/reception to speak with someone to confirm my reservation for that day (since no one picked up the phones or called me back after calling and leaving a voicemail 2 days prior to my reservation). The service was poor and it took too long (an hour) to receive food. I specified that the meal reservation was only going to be an hour and 15 minutes, and my team felt rushed as the food came out too late. Very disappointed, and hope to have a better experience in the future.
You can't make this up. I honestly don't believe they wanted customers tonight. They did everything possible to say why don't you all go somewhere else to eat. People around us were angry too. First no one came over for 20 min just for water. Then he gave half the table water and never came back for the others. Went into other tables. When he finally came back we quickly ordered for concern we would never see him again. Our drinks took forever. Appetizer showed up but no drinks. Then bartender brings them over but rather than giving them to us puts them by the chef where it was hot. We were just 5 feet from him. We watched the ice melt. Eventually the server showed up, saw the drinks and brought them over. But only for half the table. Other drinks no where to be found. And it continued on. Time to shut down and start over. Management needs to be replaced. New servers with customers in mind. It's a shame. View is nice. But they are clearly never going to be a top restaurant. We aren't gong back. We are business execs in the area. Will be sure no one we know goes there. Simply not a relaxing environment. Poor service and no apologies for it. Too many other options.
I was traveling for business and searching for a restaurant to have dinner by myself. I was actually staying at Le Meridien and saw that Amuse was part of the hotel and highly rated. When I got there, I was confused...the dining room was completely deserted at 7:15 and there was no hostess or anyone to greet customers. There was a bartender waiting on 4-5 gentlemen at the bar, and she never once looked up at me, although I stood there quite a while. I walked past her into the dining room, thinking there might be another entrance. Wrong. I left and came back again, had the same experience, so finally I interrupted her telling stories and she walked me into the dining room and seated me and walked away. There were only two other occupied tables that night. The food was OK and my waiter was nice enough, although I half-expected him to drop off the dinner rolls and go check in customers at the front desk. I probalby woudl have enjoyed my meal more if I had just ordered room service. Let's just say the experience lived up to its name...I was Amused.
We had the restaurant to ourselves on this Thursday evening. Granted we did have an early reservation, but likely because of its location in a hotel there wasn't much local traffic eating there. The bar was full and thankfully a divider minimized the noise. Our server, Tony was attentive to us alone. How nice. We selected it for the view and though we couldn't see the river we could see the Georgetown skyline.
We enjoyed everything we ordered! Had leftovers of the carbonnara for lunch the next day and it still was fantastic.
I made open table reservation which was confirmed by restaurant. When I got there they closed the restaurant for private event and did not inform me. My client drove an hour to meet me. The food manager scrambled to get me a room and provided a complimentary chicken dinner.
Disappointed with lack of communication but impressed with response once they saw my reservation
I've been to AMuse a number of times, typically for lunch since the restaurant is close to work, but this time for dinner. As always, the food took forever to come out (despite the fact that we were 1 of only 2 tables occupied in the entire restaurant that evening). The sea bass was overcooked, the side of cannellini beans lukewarm and somewhat mushy. The flatbreads we ordered for apps were only OK - and yet they were the highlight of the meal.
Avoid this restaurant if you can. We go back out of shear convenience and lack of options in Rosslyn.
Normally one of my favorite Arlington restaurants, AMUSE always has great food with mediocre service, especially during the busy periods. If you work around peak periods service isn't as bad. But this past Friday despite having a dinner reservation confirmed via OpenTable we found out upon arrival that the restaurant was closed for a private event. They were nice enough to allow us to eat in the lobby area outside of the restaurant which was better than nothing, but certainly not ideal nor comfortable. They really tried to make up for it with extra attention, and this time the service was great and the food was mediocre. This was my first experience with less-than-fantastic food at AMUSE and I'm hoping it was because the kitchen was too distracted by the private party. Next time they close for an event it would be great if they didn't accept reservations!
We were staying at the Le Meridian hotel and needed a convenient dinner.
We were not greeted at the host area and ended walking back into the dining area. A server said to sit down and he would take care of us. The server was fine and took care of our table well.
The food was OK, but not worth the price. The steak was tasty. The fish was OK, but am not sure it was sea bass as typically it has been more of a steak-sized piece when I have ordered it elsewhere. The side was OK. The pasta dish was cold and not very flavorful.
We did appreciate the nice decor and quite atmosphere. Might be worth another try, but the meal was simply underwhelming for the price.
This is my third time at Amuse. First time was a large party at lunch. Service was slow even though we arrived early to avoid the lunch rush. Second time it was just two for lunch and i thought service couldn't be worse but i was wrong. This time it was 4 colleagues for lunch. We waited 25 minutes for water. Then 15 more for a waiter to take our order. 3 of the 4 ordered the exact same thing. When order came 45 minutes later it was wrong. The third person who ordered the identical meal as 2 others got a duplicate of the other order. That samdwich was begrudgingly returned and there was much discussion at the pass,over who did what wrong. All of our soup. And sandwiches got cold while we waited for another tomato soup and grilled cheese. All the while there are people running around in the dining room but they only appear to be able to each do one thing. I asked our waiter 3 times for a refill on my water.
The restaurant is lovely, the food is decent, but the staff need intensive training.
The food was good and design was cool, but the host staff were not friendly and the server wasn't well educated on the food prep or wine. We also had to scan our own credit cards and type in the tip in a mobile device while the server stood there watching and waiting. It was very awkward and didn't match the menu prices and overall vibe. I'm not interested in dining there again.
