Amura - Lake Mary/Heathrow Ratings and Reviews
Food and service was really good. I thought the prices were a little high for the ambiance, they are pushing fine dining prices, but the table/service etiquette is more of a family restaurant. They have sheets of paper on the tables that they write notes on. I may sound harsh, but as I said the food and service was really good and I would dine there again.
Perfect place to take my dad for his birthday! The staff was very accommodating, the food was excellent! An overall fun experience! Just as a side note: the teppan grill was so much better than any we have had before, my husband and I will never be able to enjoy another Japanese restaurant again!
we received 3 extra rolls of sushi that we wrote no next to the line on. i guess they don't know what no means. maybe we should have gotten a new paper to fill out. regardless, we were charged for all 3 of these rolls. so a tip to all patrons, do not mark anything at all on the sushi order form if you make a mistake. get a new order form.
Booked my reservation for 6pm. By 7pm we were still waiting to be served! And that's because we were seating at the Teppan Table and there was a couple who was waiting on a third person to show up. I refrase that: the WHOLE TABLE was waiting on this person to show up.
Seriously? That's aweful service.
I shouldn't be waiting that long to be served.
So I left. I refuse to pay a $ 100 dinner to a restaurant with that kind of service!
This was the second experience at Amura and to put it simply, it wasn't worth the price. It looked like they were starting to cut costs here and there and still charged a premium. You can definitely find better sushi in a classy place for a lot less money. It wasn't bad, just not great.
Made an online reservation...for Tepan table. When we arrived we were seated in dining area. When I asked about moving,I was advised it would be approx 20 minutes, so we decided to stay put. Our server was not having a good night & kept forgetting what we ordered & she had to come back more than a couple of times to get our drinks & food order right. Food was tasty, however...very small portions of rice and barely any vegetables at all. Taste was excellent. We were seated in the middle & felt cramped with too many tables & servers trying to go in between all of the small areas. It was very loud. We had gotten an extremely great recommendation for this restaurant advising that it was much better than Kobe's. I'm not sure we will return.
The food and the waitress service was very good. However, we made the reservation almost two weeks in advance and the hostess looked at us like we had two heads when we mentioned the reservation. In the reservation we stated we were there for a 50th birthday for a party of 6 and with a wide open restaurant, they put us at a table that was pushed up to a partition and some kind of 4ft floor art piece where you could barely pull the chair back to sit. When we said something about moving to another table the hostess just blankly stared at us and said she was sure it would work. We were hoping to love this place, it was the birthday person's choice, but we most likely will not go again. The birthday was never acknowledged by the staff.
I was a little dissapointed with the Mango Tango roll. It did not tasted fresh @ all like other times. A party of 16 people that had already dine @ Amuras in prior ocassions and some disspointment about the freshness of the sushi. :( Also the serbice was extremely SLOW! Reservation for 8:00pm and left the restaurant @ 10:30 because the SLOW service.
Familiar selection of sushi as well as many unique selections. The entrees were delicious. Everything we tried was yummy and nicely presented. The prices are on the high side but the sushi servings are generous. Overall an excellent restaurant that I would visit but not too often due to the prices.
The food was very good but all and all it was way too noisey and even though we had specific reservations we sat for 20 minutes waiting for a table the server forgot our appetizer and you end up paying for the food, its expensive but worth the cost. Just for as much as you pay for the food i would expect better service and atleast hope someone tries to accomodate a reservation.
We made a 5:30 reservation to celebrate our daughter's 16th B-day but upon our arrival, we were told that it would be 1 1/2 to 2 hours before our table would be available. She was very disappointed. What are reservations for? Needless to say, we ate elsewhere.
The food at this reataurant is very good and the sushi is very good according to my companion. It gets a bit noisy and that can be annoying - but it never got so loud that I could not hear my dinner mates or that I had to shout to be heard. Suggest that you sit away from the entertainment.
