Amura - Lake Mary/Heathrow Ratings and Reviews
Didn't like the fee for bringing our own cake for birthday celebration so we did not eat our cake at the restaurant. This is a fairly pricey place and the fee for bringing your own cake is unreasonable.
Food was excellent. Loud screaming child was distracting.
I typically LOVE Amura, but unfortunately for Valentines they seemed to have added more tables in an effort to squeeze in as many people as possible. I felt like to could eat off of my neighbors plate because we were so close. Aside from that, it was a lovely evening.
Since it was Valentine's Day, I called ahead to see if the 1/2 off special was still in effect. I was told by a young lady on the phone that it was indeed still in effect as long as we arrived between 5 and 6:30. Since our reservation was for 5 pm, I was expecting to have no problems. When our bill arrived, it was not calculated at the special rate as I expected. When I spoke with the manager, he promptly brought over a young lady who said that she did not tell anyone that the special was in effect today, because it was Valentine's Day. The manager would not lower my bill, and I paid twice as much as I expected to pay.
It took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone and when we were it was because we flagged someone down. The waiter when he did come did not introduce himself just asked what we wanted as he rushed by the table. We were sat in the middle of the room even though I made a reservation noting it was our anniversary.( Way to be romantic)
The appetizer took about 25 minutes and we waited for at least 7 minutes each time we were in need of a drink. We were informed that because they were so backed up on Sushi that we wouldn't get til the end of the meal. It actually was brought to us when they brought our entree's and The canned Pineapple and 3 bites of Avocado were pretty disappointing in the Ahi Poke'! Not what we expected at all!
Had a business conference and used Amura (the Hibachi) table for my colleagues who were visited from other parts of the USA and overseas. Very positive feedback from the entire team. The food was excellent and the chef did a great job putting on a show and serving up the cuisine. Highly recommended for great food, ambiance and service.
We had a brilliant first night at Amura. The atmosphere was buzzing from the minute we walked in and the food was outstanding. The service was second to none and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. Really want to try the hibachi grill next. Definitely one of the best restaurants we have been to lately and only a few minutes drive away as well.
Amura's is one of our favorite go-to places for a Girl's Nite Out! There is room to share food, conversation, and good times at this location. Food is always excellent. The wait-staff eager to please, and the noise level, this time, was lower so we could share in the many conversations that went around the table. Thanks for being in Lake Mary!!
I was in the area on a work trip and decided to dine here because of the great reviews. Service was friendly and the menu offers a lot of choice, both for sushi and meat dishes, but for a Japanese restaurant, there were only 2 noodle dishes.
I thought my meal was a bit bland and underwhelming. The portion size was plentiful and came with a choice of soup or salad, rice, and a vegetable side in addition to the main dish. I found it odd that the veggie side was 3 zucchini sticks and half of a potato, a poor choice considering the meal also had rice.
Visiting Orlando area and visited this restaurant for a hopefully delicious meal. Was more than pleased. The sushi was fresh and the cooked food was fabulous. Enjoyed the dumpling soup - a peppery version of wanton soup. Tasty and a nice twist. Loved the salmon lover's roll and the Hawaiian roll - a combo of numerous fish - crisp with cucumbers, creamy with avocado and very fresh. My martini was done to perfection. Cooked chicken with cashews was tasty. The amount of food was abundant. Lots of music and tv's playing everywhere. Fun place, great food - would happily visit again.
There is no Sushi on the plant that is better than Amura - No larger selection anywhere I have found in my travels worldwide. The Ambiance in both this and the Sand lake site need work. Lake Mary site is simply too noisy. Sand Lake is too bright and needs to lose the TV sets showing the ball game.
The ambience was vibrant, food esquisite especially the Suchi and Fish selection such as Chilenean Sea Bass, Salmon and Tuna. It was a Thursday and it was packed due to $2 martinis for the Ladies. I would definitely return and try more dishes. It also has an excellente kids menu section, very good for my two Grandchildren. I will highly recomend this restaurant to Friends and Family.
a bit overpriced for the quality of the food. The rolls were not rolled tight enough and fell apart when picked up. This makes eating sushi rolls difficult, I feel that for the price paid the sushi rolls should have not come undone before they reached my mouth.
I have been several time sto Amura. The regular dinning is excellent. On this recent trip I treid the Habachi grill - I was entertaining international guest. The service (not the cook) was average and the food quality was average. Certainly was not to the level I experineced in the main dinning room on previous visits.
We have taken our group to this location for three years, and this was the first bad experience we have had. The Teppan chef performed like it was his first day on the job, but later told us he had been there two years. He had absolutely no personality and did not give us any of the theatrics that have become customary with a restaurant like this. The chicken was dry, and the steak was only saved by telling the chef "rare" in order to actually get "medium". To make the experience worse, the manager spent the evening in the doorway staring at our table. His furious face must have been directed at the chef, because our table was the quietest in the section. I will not be taking my staff or family back to this location again.
I dine at Amura a lot and my biggest complaint is their service level. Most of the wait staff are not well trained and only marginally courteous. Recently, their food has declined as well. There is frequently something wrong with the order or they have ran out of a named ingredient. In all, their attention to detail has slipped.
Went on a Thursday evening as a family, including a toddler. NOT recommended for a family at this time. It was very busy and loud ( had singer in bar area). Staff was very accommodating in reseating us. Food was good and service was very good. Friend got kalbi (short ribs) that were very fatty. Otherwise the food was great. It's in a great location. Overall the experience was good and we'd return (on another night!)
Been there many times but the standards have seemed to drop a little. The service is definitely flaky depending on who your server is...its the luck of the draw some good some terrible. We normally go for the sushi which is usually consistent and good. We also had a few other menu items that were ok.
We use to live in Lake Mary and ate here alot! We loved it so much that when we returned from taking our daughter to UNF in Jacksonville, FL., we stayed in Lake Mary on the way home just to go to Amura again!! It was as awesome as we remembered it!! I about froze to death with a vent that was pointed directly at our table, but other than that we loved it!!
