Real Food for Real People
The ambiance is great there. Our experience started right at the door with a very friendly hello and then we were seated and our server showed up quite soon and was very friendly was not very impressed with the food although the presentation was impressive.
The food was amazing but portion sizes were a bit small for the price compared to similar places we’ve eaten around the world. We were seated at an oddly shaped table with many other couples on stools. It was generally an awkward seating arrangement for an intimate Valentine’s Day dinner and the stools were not the most comfortable.
Valentine’s Day! They offered a special menu and we tried most of it between the two of us and every bite was amazing!
A bit too greasy, fatty, doughy, unhealthy. Need to rein that in. Caeser had greasy croutons and too many greaay bacon slabs. Risotto kimchee combo kinda yuk. Please refine the food as much as you refine the drinks.
Unfortunately it was not as good as I remember it the first few times (which was a while ago). We had a reservation for 6 people and we did not get a table in the main dining room (the lights and atmosphere is awesome there) but close to the front doors with bright lights. It did not have the same ambiance. The food is different and worth trying but we got the recommended dishes to share and they were not the dishes you would go back for in a restaurant. Overall, it was just an okay experience. However, I would go back to give it another shot though.
The food was great. The atmosphere was nice, very cool layout. Only issue was we sat there for 20 minutes when we first got there until someone greeted us.
The scones are to die for
Incredible server and support staff. The food, drink, and service was of the highest quality for our visit. We called in advance to have a bottle of champagne at our table and the server who we spoke with on the phone was very knowledgeable and patient with my (severe) lack of expertise.
Upon arrival our server had been briefed on our special occasion and made my partner and I feel immediately welcome and elevated the celebratory atmosphere.
We had a large group (10 that grew to 12). I know it's not easy to accommodate large groups but the team at Ampersand27 made it look effortless. Our server was really relaxed and accommodating. 10 STARS!!!
Food - was interesting and yummy - I had a very diverse group and everyone was satisfied. I tried the Woodstock Benny - it was pure delicious genius and the potatoes - omg.
Atmosphere - The space is so lovely and open and interesting that we didn't feel squished or rushed.
Value - I paid for 4 women's brunch and it was only $112. including tip. That's pretty fair!
Thank you Ampersand27!
My wife got the short rib. It came out medium rare, tough, and bleeding all over the plate. Enough juice that her dish might as well have been soup. Their menu says it should have been sous vide for 48 hours, but their explanation for it coming out poorly cooked was that the batch was only in for 40 hours. I don’t really believe the chef because sous vide meat does not need to rest, it won’t bleed like it did. Also it would have been cooked past medium rare long before 40 hours. I was very disappointed that they did not cook it properly according to their menu.
My steak was also not allowed to rest properly so my plate was quite juicy as well. I don’t overly mind though as a little steak juice in my potato’s is fine by me.
Other then that the place was quite nice, with good service and a good menu.
I wasn’t as impressed with this restaurant as I usually am. Our dinner was at 7pm and the restaurant was already out of pork buns, the restaurant wasn’t even that full, it was very disappointing because that’s the main reason we chose this restaurant. The server wasn’t very knowledgeable on their gluten free options (my mom is Celiac). In my opinion their dishes are either hit or miss. We shared a bit of everything that we ordered. the pork chop was amazing as usual, the scallops were good, the cauliflower was good, the shishito peppers don’t have much flavor other than bitter, the ceaser salad was boring, the chicken supreme was meh, for supposedly being slow cooked the rib was not tender. Everything else we ate wasn’t memorable enough to review. They were out of two of the 5 dessert options and the ones we received were mostly sub par. The chocolate tart pastry was very hard. The vegan panna cotta was coffee flavored (which wasn’t mentioned on the menu) and was served with a chocolate sauce that had gone rancid. They did replace it with a creme brulee which was nice and the best dessert out of the theee options. The person who seated us and poured us water was very friendly but our server did seem a bit frustrated serving a group of 7. I’ve definitely had better experiences at this restaurant which was unfortunate as we were having a special family dinner.
Really enjoyed it. The hostess is always so cheerful! The ambiance is lovely. Needs a larger fireplace. Scallops were nice!
loved everything we had there, food and service was amazing one of my favorite restaurants in town!
Delicious brunch! This place is a must in Edmonton. Can’t wait to go back! 😁✨👏🏼
Brunch portions were small and the restaurant was out of certain dishes as well as cocktails on the menu! Service was meh though the restaurant is very pretty inside and the cocktails that were available were very good. Pricing was also fair.
The restaurant had gone through some renovations recently and was exceptionally cold inside. Definitely understand it may not be a normal occurrence, but it distracted from our enjoyment of the table.
Food was really good as were the beverages.
Despite the cold, it is still on my list of go-to places.
First time going and it was a great experience. Great atmosphere, delicious food and really good service. Will definitely be back!
Really great food. A little pricey but worth it for a night out.
Service was lacklustre and underwhelming. Some of the food was phenomenal (rib eye and scallops) while other dishes were bland, disappointing and not worth the price point (avocado fries and margherita flatbread). The only consistency was in the cocktails- every single one we tried was amazing. There were a lot of items unavailable for the night which we were told immediately upon being seated which was a slightly disappointing way to start the night. For such an upscale atmosphere, I believe staff should have been more professional. When we told the manager that some things were good and some were bad she replied with, “isn’t that just like life, though?” and when we were being billed our server complimented my eyelashes and then went on to tell a story of another staff member who came in with an eye infection. An item we had sent back was still on our bill as well as the replacement side we had received (our potatoes with the ribeye were burnt beyond recognition). All in all it was a fairly disappointing night and our server and managers were aware we weren’t very happy with our experience, no drinks compensated or even the cheesecake we had ordered for the out of town friend’s birthday we were celebrating. Drinks and decorations were lovely however I don’t believe I will be recommending or returning to this restaurant.
Limited quirky menu. Good service.
Ampersand 27 is a phenomenal place to eat. The vibe/design is gorgeous. The food is a little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. They try to be as local as possible which is amazing.
The service is top notch and the staff is very knowledgeable on the menu.
Overall, an amazing experience.
Although our server was very nice and helpful when he was actually helping us, but didn't check on us for a full 20 minutes. We were on a tight timeline and told him when we needed to leave by (12:45), and at that time he disappeared so we had to ask a different server to track him down. It took us 5-10 minutes longer to pay our bills as he couldn't figure out how to split our gift card. The food was excellent, but the service left us racing over to our next plans. Don't go if you're on a tight timeline!
We had a reservation for a group of 8 on a Friday evening for dinner and the staff handled us during their fairly busy dinner rush with no delays. Two of us arrived early and were able to enjoy a drink at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive and the bartender was able to provide multiple recommendations from their extensive cocktail menu based on our preferences. We had an excellent time and will be back to try more of the menu.
We had the New Years Eve Menu, the food was great, the service was slow at first, but it was NYE so it was totally underatandable, once we ordered our food the service picked up and our server was very friendly and informative. I found the drink menu to be less appealing or a value - I mean, 30$ for a glass of champagne was kind of steep for me. Other than that it was lovely.
The food was outstanding, and the service prompt, friendly and appeared just when needed. Wines paired nicely with menu offerings - good selection.
Interior was pleasantly lit and seating cozy. Will bring friends & family here again, and this will be one of our neighborhood ‘go-to’ spots.
Such amazing food! I wish I could have ordered more! We had the scallops to start and the popcorn purée is the most amazing thing ever! The rib eye was an amazing main, the quality and quantity you get is more then expected. We finished off with the brownie and the dessert special of a warm scone bread pudding and it was so delicious! I will be going back again and again for date nights! I can’t wait to stop in and try the brunch!
I came to Ampersand27 for my birthday, I ordered a $41 dollar meal and was not allowed to substitute my onion with any other vegetable other than with more carrots.
Really enjoyed the evening. Food and service were great!
I took some clients to Ampersand 27. The service was great. There were lots of great choices on the lunch menu. Everyone enjoyed their respective lunches. I would highly recommend.
Apps, food, drinks and desert were all great. Service was good and would go back. The ribeye portion was pretty good
Incredible tasting food. Great service. Wonderful environment!
Yikes!! We have been back minimally since Nathin left and today reminded me why. The menu for brunch had little variety if not interested in benedicts and the server refused to even check if the kitchen would modify a dish to one of our party members’ liking.
The brisket was pure fat. When this was brought up the manager rudely noted that’s what brisket looks like and they’re proud as if the issue was ours. Making something in house doesn’t automatically make it correct or good.
The server was rude, our coffees were empty for most of the meal and her responses to questions were curt. When I asked if hard poached eggs were standard as no yolk ran when I cut into the ones on my plate, she asked me what I ordered. I said she did not ask me, so if it was standard I’d eat it but she offered to return the Benedict with soft eggs not without a glare of frustration. She took my plate from in front of me and obviously just left it under a lamp until the new eggs were ready as the plate came back piping hot and the other items on it with a stale crisp including a film top on my side of Hollandaise.
The food was not good, over priced for value and the service, including the manager, were atrocious. Don’t waste your time here - there’s a reason there are always tables available.
We were looking for a weekend brunch place that took reservations for larger group and was able to get one for the time we wanted. Servers were great, food choices were good for everyone and it was all very delicious! We will definitely be back again!
My girl friends and I got together for a Christmas gift exchange, brunch, and we had a fantastic time. We were seated in the corner, so that we would have a place to put our gifts and not have to worry about taking up space or being in the way. Our server was fantastic, and the service from the entire waitstaff was phenomenal. Not a dry glass at the table!
Thanks for a memorable brunch :)
Beautiful room inside, service is attentive and friendly. I love how the staff romance the food as they bring it out. I had the eggplant dish, and every bite was perfection.
Very enjoyable atmosphere with excellent food!
Normally I love ampersand and always have exceptional food and service. We ordered scones to start and they were so salty we couldn’t eat them. We advised our server who told us they were meant to be really salty and the preserve was supposed to be a salted cranberry preserve as well. Even if that was the case it was inedible and that was not acknowledged. My latte was only half full and we had to follow up a couple times for sugar. The main courses were well done. Our server was friendly but had too many guests, we waited a long time between seeing him. We had said it was a special occasion and there was no acknowledgement of that either. All in all it was disappointing
My boyfriend and I came for an early dinner before seeing the Nutcracker Ballet. The staff were so kind and made the night extra special when they realized we were out for a special occasion.
We have been to Ampersand several times, and each time we leave very satisfied with the food and service. The employee a more seasoned staff which makes a big difference and the chef is phenomenal.
We were there for Sunday brunch after hearing many good reviews. The cuisine was unique and quite good, but the eggs were over-cooked and overall, the food was a bit greasy.
