Amore Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
This was for my friend Ceci’s birthday. I also went there the Saturday before for my birthday dinner with friends. We were allowed to use the top floor for ourselves with a Prix Fixe menu that was really good. We got excellent service. The food was amazing. We will be definitely returning here. Thank you very much Amore!
Restaurant was stinky and the food quality wasnt great. Owners arent italian neither are the chefs. I witnessed one of the owners mistreating his staff. Waiter was great though he was very cheerful and helpful. For the price we paid we could have gone to a much nicer place.
Were warmy greeted.
The server came to offer drinks as soon as we were seated.
The moderately priced wine, a shiraz was well worth the price.
Shared a margerita pizza as an appetizer that was thin crusted and we'll cooked.
Had a stuffed chicken breast special which was superb.
Closed with a cognac. Also reasonably priced.
Our server Elie was pleasant and efficient.
Overall a very good experience.
Amore is a favorite go-to restaurant...love the reasonably quite atmosphere, the helpful staff, and their suggestions. I had their calves liver for the first time - always worried that it would get over-cooked and leathery. But no - it was cooked to perfection, and was washed down with a glass of Primativo wine...yum!
Went there for New Years Eve and it was packed, but to be expected. Service was exceptionally poor (group seated 10 minutes after us were served drinks before), waitress was curt and not very friendly. Food was ok - not bad, but nothing I'd come back for. Overall a decent place, nothing exceptional.
Although I have had good meals here before, choosing Amore for New Year's Eve was a big mistake. The restaurant was understaffed and so we received friendly but inadequate service. One meal was initially forgotten, 1 meal was lukewarm with another so cold it needed to be sent back. I noticed other tables also having to ask for things that should have been automatically brought (bread, steak knife, more wine). A very disappointing evening.
Picked this on OpenTable just because it was close to Absolute Comedy and seemed affordable. Prices were very good for the excellent quality of food. There were a wide variety of wines available for reasonable prices. There was a noisy party going on upstairs when we were there, but otherwise a quiet and romantic place. Staff were attentive and never disappeared for an unreasonable amount of time. I would expect much higher prices for the quality of food, service and atmosphere. It's a five minute walk from Yonge & Eglinton, so it's close to many other activities for the evening. I plan to return.
Service was awful. We weren't served until the owner came around. Then the waitress would forget about us, spill wine (she did top it up after it was spilled), not serve us complimentary bread. We put our order in and the food came fast. Not a great thing. Made me think that there was no effort put into the food. We wanted to enjoy the time out, and felt like we were being pushed along. Asked for dessert menu and the waitress ignored us before sending someone else for the order. Overall, would not revisit which is a shame since this restaurant held some special memories for us.
Amore was once a favoured midtown restaurant. After being disappointed on the last three occasions, it has now been removed from my go-to list. On this last visit, describing the food as mediocre is being kind. The service (once upon a time attentive) was terrible. Nomore Amore!
We had dinner at "Amore" for Mother's Day. It was very disappointing! The food quality was poor and tasteless. We didn't order anything estravagant, just calamari and pizza. The calamari salad was ok and there was enough to share which was nice but our main course was Pizza and it was not good. My husband could not find any hot Italian sausage on his. We asked the waitress about it and she said the sausage is sliced very very thinly. Well it was so thin you couldn't see or taste it. My pizza was mediocre and it wasn't very hot when it arrived.
The upstairs section provides a good escape from noise of the lower section. Sit close to the rail and there is still good light from outside and a view of the passers-by.
Staff are friendly and accommodating. The non-pizza part of the menu is modest so of you're planning a visit - cone for the pizza. Wine list has a good selection and the prices are not too bad.
This was my first time at Amore. I went for brunch/lunch with a friend. There was ample selection, from salads to eggs and other typical brunch fare to pizzas or pastas and other mains. We had no complaints about our choices. Service was very friendly and accommodating. A family with younger kids were at the next table -- this place is definitely kid-friendly. It's all basic and easy, and the prices help make it worth a visit for a quick bite in the Yonge/Eglinton neighbourhood.
