AMORE Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We've been going here for years and had not been since the refurbishment. Looks 10 times better! Love the subtle gray, expanded hostess area, chandeliers, and inset lighting...very classy. I had my usual fish special, which I found to be over-salted. Prices seem to have increased. The bread is still fabulous with the Parmesan/olive oil, and we always order the grilled calamari. My one suggestion is to make the regular "specials" a part of the menu. The cynic in me thinks they continue to serve these constant specials as a verbal mention, rather than featuring them in the menu with prices. Still love Amore...but this time the salt occluded the delicate flavor of the fish, and we felt 150+ was too much to pay for 2 entrees, appetizer, and 3 drinks.
We invited 4 friends and they declined the venue and suggested other venues- we persisted as we had good experience on two prior occasions . They were impressed by the new decor and the food was fantastic. I have two recommendations
1. The wine I first selected by the glass while waiting for friends was bad and I returned it. I was not charged but by the glas wine should not be served when past it best.
2. The service was good not great but management were absent and it was all left to our server who was new to the restaurant. He was fine but management should be more interested in their patrons.
This is constructive criticism but I assure you , we will be back. Amore is as good as Cibao across the shopping centre and I will tell my friends
Very good food, especially the pasta dishes. Excellent wines and the service is top notch. Highly recommend Amore. Prices are in line with the better restaurants in Naples but the food is well above the average restaurant in Naples. Get a reservation as they are busy!
Tried this restaurant after a number of recommendations. A wait in the bar area was OK but it was a bit cold and lacked atmosphere. Table location was fine. Service was awful. Apparently caused by a private dining party in another room. One of our party ordered 2 appetizer and asked for the second to come with the entrees. It was served and eaten before the entrees arrived which took about 25 minutes. Ruined evening
Great restaurant. The food was excellent. The server could not have been more efficient and pleasant. A little pricier than we were expecting. Really wish restaurants would quote prices when they tell you about the specials.
Have been here before and had a great meal. This time not so good. Following appetizers one friend wanted to split a main course salmon order. There was a charge for this which was fine,
but we received about 3 forkfuls of salmon each and almost no vegetables. I was embarrassed,
but my guest, being polite, said it was OK. Another friend ordered the Zuppa de Pesce. which
turned out to be mixed fish with tomato sauce. This is not authentic and was very disappointing.
This was our first visit of the season and we were once again delighted! The newly expanded and renovated space is really lovely! The service and cuisine were of the same excellence on which we have come to rely! Great wine list! Grilled calamari-amazing! Dover sole -delicious! My husband loves the filet and the veal here! Owners are always gracious! Amore is definitely a neighborhood gem! Be back soon!
We had a very good meal here last year on our visit to Naples. But this year there were a number of issues. Starting with the lack of any greeting at the front desk. The shared salad was skimpy at best. The glass of Cabernet Sauvignon had to be sent back . It was off taste. We had to ask for more bread. At this level restaurant, that should not happen. The grouper special was very good but way overpriced at $42.00. There were only three items on the dessert tray. No sorbet, no tartuffo. No excuse for that. We did like our waiter Domenic and the newly renovated restaurant is attractive and tables well spaced. Fortunately the bar area is separated from the dining room since there are three massive TV screens (this evening there was the same football game on all screens.). Based on our current experience I don’t think we will be returning .
I read all the reviews of Amore before I made reservations And was so excited to try their authentic Italian. We are Sicilian and very judicious when it comes to eating out at Italian restaurants. We were absolutely blown away. I’m serious. The Rigatoni Bolognese was outstanding and the noodles, al dente, as it should be. Our waiter, Gabriel, fantastic. Recommended a fantastic Amarone and didn’t hover over us as we drank and visited the first hour. Most places in the area rush you and constantly checking on your table. Not here. They’re pros. They know when you’re deep in conversation, you’re not ready to order. Some of the reviews were very negative knocking the staff as incompetent and the owners as snooty and inattentive. Not true. The husband and wife owners went to each and every table and thanked people for visiting as well as checked if everything was to our satisfaction. Even the servers who didn’t wait on us were extremely attentive. So, from this Sicilian, trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Rwtmassired, if I had a bad experience, I’d tell ya! Buon appetito!
Our first visit and we will definitely return. That’s a lot to say in the crowded Naples restaurant market. Recently refurbished in a more formal Mediterranean style reminiscent of the average patron. Food preparation, presentation and spicing is in a class by itself. Hats off to the chef.
