Amore by Wegmans Ratings and Reviews
We were greeted by Justin at the bar who recommended two delicious red wines to us. We were sat on the pergola which, despite being in a grocery store, was very inviting and charming. Hillary was our server, who was attentive, informative, and simply delightful! We will be back again and will continue to request Hillary.
Amore changes up its menus seasonly, and this new fall/winter lunch menu is great. Although they have not brought back their lunchtime burger, which was great, they've added steak sandwich that's great, as well as some new pasta dishes. The servings are generous but appropriate to a lunchtime meal. Service is excellent; very responsive. They take their cue from customers; if you need to be in and out in under an hour, they do that well. But it's also a nice venue for a more leisurely lunch. Excellent wine list and coffee.
I got the scallops with butternut squash risotto...I found the the dish to be very salty....I like salt on my food but this was very salty....the manager asked if everything was satisfactory and I didn't tell her...my own fault. I definitely wouldn't get them again.
Having tried dozens of Italian restaurants in Rochester over the past ten years, I find that Amore outdistances most of its competitors by offering authentic, consistently well-prepared Italian dishes at an exceptionally good price and with an extensive wine list. The service is always first rate-- well-trained, attentive, and eager to resolve an issue quickly. The $1 oysters on Monday nights are always terrific, and the menu is updated often enough to keep us going back at least once a week. My only advice: if you want your thin-crust pizza nice and crisp, ask for it "extra crispy" so it isn't chewy/doughy.
We were greeted by two hosts, Zoë and Brittany, they were very inviting and gracious. Our server, Ashley, she was OUTSTANDING! She helped us navigate the extensive menu and the wine list. The scallops were a tad over cooked and the dessert was dry, but everything had great flavor and I will definitely be back!
This was our first visit to a Wegmans restaurant so we didn't know what to expect. We were very pleased.
Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The server was very knowledgeable. We ordered an appetizer, salads, and entrees. The server asked us when we wanted our items brought out, which I liked, since we were in a bit of a rush. The calamari was tender and tasty. The salads were a good size, not too small. Everything tasted very fresh. The Gnocchi alla Bolognese was excellent. The gnocchi was not too heavy and the ragu tasted authentic. The gelato was also excellent.
Service was thoughtful and caring.
Food was underwhelming. Lobster was slimy and bread was served cold as if taken out of the frog or freezer (shudder).
In fairness, the request to heat up the bread was honored, but Wegmans, you have a special oven, why do you serve cold bread? One dish good, lobster dish not so good. 50%. do you like those odds?
We were greeted and seated immediately and on time. All of The Food was excellent. It prepared exactly as requested. Ashely was our server. Very attentive with a quick wit. She kept glasses full and was conveniently available without being annoying. I highly recommend her if you get a choice of servers. Meal was fairly priced. We had a great time with another couple and before we knew it 2 1/2 passed. Felt very comfortable. Will do again.
The food was delicious, but the service sup par. We were one of only a handful of patrons and while the hostess was great, our waiter was not very attentive. I showed up first and he did come over right away and ask about a drink, but then the 2 other guests arrived about 5 minutes later and he didn't come back for 15+ minutes, and only after we asked someone in the kitchen (near our seat) to send him over. He took our orders and was pleasant, but we had to track him down again to put in drink orders for the 2 newest guests (granted, they didn't speak up when he was over at the table, but he never asked about drinks.) Later he brought a refill for one person (unprompted, which was nice) but when another guest asked for one as well, he was pretty curt with his reply back. Not a huge deal, especially if it was busy, but since there was only 1 other table eating, it seemed like poor service. He knew it and took the drinks off the bill, which was appropriate, but for Wegman's (which has the best service I've ever received) this was a sad surprise, especially since the menu isn't cheap, we wanted a little service (which is why I marked low on value... would have been higher if the service was better, but $20 for lunch (no drink) I think to make that a value you need good food (which it really was) but also good service.
Hard to believe that you can have a distinctive dining experience at a Wegmans, but Amore really stands out. Very pleasant setting with a nicely varied menu that has been carefully designed. Excellent wine list, especially by the glass. Service was superb. Only complaint: banquette seating places one too low to be sitting at the right height at the table! Plus I was looking up at my husband, who was sitting across from me in a chair. Needs to be redesigned/rebuilt ASAP.
Service was very slow on all counts. The server erred in my two daughters orders resulting in us not eating together as they had to wait to get the correct order. No bread offered at table until asked. The bread that was then delivered was a very small portion that had to be replenished.
I love the ambiance but you have some work to do for me to come back.
We were celebrating Mother's Day. Our server was fantastic and the food was delicious. One suggestion .. there were 6 of us in our party. We had to ask twice for more bread. The bread was delicious, but served in very small pieces. All in all, a very pleasant experience enjoyed by all. I also used the link to order flowers for my mother and mother-in-law, which at the table when we arrived.
