Superb menu and wine selections, food was delicious, service outstanding.
The Best Indian Restaurant in NYC! Make sure you try the butter chicken and special Cauliflower!
Food is excellent, value fine, service a bit sluggish
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when we walked in. The decor is a bit dated and the seats aren’t very comfortable, but the service and food blow those things out of the water! What a great find for delicious Indian food! I haven’t had better butter chicken in years. A good selection of wine as well to pair with whatever you decide to eat. I would definitely recommend it and would go again. Thank you to the very kind and attentive staff!!
Good taste and quality of food. Too many people out to help, however need more people inside the kitchen to help cook food. Took forever to get the food, slow in serving food. Over all great experience.
Our favorite Indian place in the city!
Excellent service. The food was very good. I thought it was a tad expensive, but what do I know. I'm from Pennsylvania!
Excellent food and service....great lunch menu options.... the mango cheese cake is a must!
The host was a bit difficult to understand. I did appreciate his suggestion for a side dish. I found the food to be more on the spicy side but lacked the rich flavor I’m accustomed to when dining at an Indian restaurant. We had the fried okra. Very good.
We had a table of five and we shared everything. Bhel puri appetizer was refreshing and light. Chicken tikka masala and saag paneer were classically prelates and very flavorful, fried okra was lemony and crisp, tandoori prawns were perfectly prepared. Service was excellent and my only discomfort was that our table was within a foot of the front door and very small, however, they did accommodate us to add a fifth person on The day of the reservation. I Highly recommend this restaurant
The food is GREAT no matter what you order. really enjoy the excellent service too. A Must if you enjoy authentic Indian food !
been here twice now, great food and lovely staff, will be back for sure next year when we go back to NYC.
Great as always. Consistently one of the best values in NYC with an incredible wine list for its size and meal pairing capabilities.
Have been many times. Food is consistently excellent. Great wine selection and knowledgeable staff.
Food is fantastic and you can’t beat the prices in NYC. Service is great too. All around great dining experience.
Amma es un restaurant que siempre recomiendo. Excelente comida, ambiente y servicio. Un clásico
We had a great time at Amma. It was the First of Ramzan and our reservation were at 745. Since it was really close to the time for breaking the fast, I had called earlier to put in a order for apps and had told them to have them on the table before we got there. They did just that. which was great.
In addation to that it was the first time my family was going to meet my girlfriend, I had requested a quiter table. In order to accommodate me they even removed a table close to us so we could have a good time. They had also told their wait staff not to bother us when were in a conversation, and the staff follwed it well.
When it came time for the actual meal the service was great. They were very helpful with recommendations. They served us individually even serving our plates. They were Super polite, all of the staff had a smile on their faces.
Amma Means Mother... and I can it was as if I had brought my girlfriend to my moms house for dinner for the first time. For those who want to know I and my family are from Pakistan and I can safely say the Food felt like it was from home.. espically the shrimp. My girlfriend is British and she is a big fan of indian food and even for her this was great and reminded her of UK indian food.
Again thank you Amma Team for making my visit great and soo sooo memorable for my family.
Birthday experience was wonderful!
Lunch course menus are ñerfect for those that wish to try a variety. This is simply my soul resting place.
Simply wonderful Indian food. We have been to fancier Indian restaurants but the food does not match Amma.
Great restaurant! I had the Delhi chaat and chicken tikka masala, and mango cheesecake and kulfi trio for dessert... they were delicious as usual... staff is always courteous, helpful and friendly. One of my favorite restaurants to go!
Amma has maintained high levels of food preparation and service for years and shoes no sign of slowing down. The food is subtly spiced and very flavorful.
THE quality of Amma's food is extraordinary, and the service is impeccable. It is also a place where you can relax and have a quiet conversation without being disturbed by loud talking at neighboring tables. I love the place and would recommend it highly.
Interesting and delicious food. Good service and a calm environment at lunchtime.
Wonderful Indian food. Each dish seems so unique. They are very helpful if you are vegetarian and even vegan. Worth frequent visits.
Wonderful food, friendly staff, helpful recommendations, romantic atmosphere. Our favorite Indian restaurant in NYC!
I've been to Amma many times. This visit was my favorite. We love Indian cuisine and this place is a place that every Indian food lover should try once. We got the tasting menu with the wine flight with each course. Well worth the splurge. Nice to try items that we might not order. The wine parings were great and the Som's description of each was a great addition. Small intimate dinning room. Very attentive staff. Highly recommended.
What a treat. Outstanding Indian food and staff. Our dinner lasted a few hours as we were enjoying conversation and the food, and we ended up closing the place. Not once did we feel rushed or hurried, and our waiter guided us through the menu expertly. If they update their decor, I'd give them a fifth star. Definitely going back.
Normally, any visit to Amma is a delight and I typically always order the same thing (butter chicken) because the flavor is so good and the chicken is so tender. When I was there this week, the chicken was unbelievably tough. I would have sent it back but I was with a guest and I didn't want to make my guest uncomfortable and spoil the meal. I only hope my guest's chicken dish was better. Apart from that the naan was a perfect and delicious as ever, and the mango cheesecake and filter coffee were wonderful.
We have been many times and the food is just great. The sauces are excellent and the food quality terrific. The staff is gracious and attentive. We had a great time and highly recommend Amma.
Food was amazing! We ordered a lamb dish ...fresh and nicely seasoned, in a rich sauce! Highly recommend.
For 2 , the table and space given was congested . Food and service was good, i would recommend others to try it.
This is a restaurant to enjoy — the food, the ambiance and the service. We ordered way too much but enjoyed it all from appetizers to deserts. The food was not chili pepper hot but it was so tasty that, spice lovers though we all were, we didn’t mind at all. We started with a complimentary appetizer or amuse-bouche that foretold the pleasures to come. The spinach chat with sprouted mung bean salad was exceptional. I never eat samosas (vegetarian selection) but loved theirs. The shrimp curry, lamb vindaloo, and beet kofta were great. Gulag jamun and rasmalai rounded off a very satisfying evening. The waiters were helpful but not hovering. On a Monday night, the place was calm. We would definitely go back.
We love the food, the service, the ambiance...everything is great. This is one of my very favorite restaurants in the city
Most of our dishes were excellent. Most outstanding was the service, particularly from the manager/part-owner. From seeing us on the street looking lost to allowing us to divide our bill the way we requested, he was extremely professional and welcoming.
We chose the tasting menu, which is definitely worth it. Food was excellent, interesting and well served.
We found the food and service to be lovely. Each of our dishes were flavorful- the 3 types of rice (I especially enjoyed the mint rice), the wonderful vegetables smothered in an interesting sauce, and the subtle rosemary bread.
The staff were particularly attentive, even filling my water glass repeatedly, which I appreciated.
Though the entrance to the restaurant requires you passing the mailboxes of the residents that live in the building, the actual dinning room was warm and charming.
It's an enjoyable, cozy find in our sometimes sterile, oversized city.
Excellent food. Nice ambiance. Service a little slow.
Our family has had a lot of Indian food over the years and this was easily one of the best ever. Small, intimate place with outstanding service and butter chicken (Tikki Masala) as good as it gets. Strongly recommend. Little hard to find and small on the inside, but well worth it once you are there.
