Our first time at Amma was excellent. We had the vegetarian tasting menu, and it was striking how varied and delicious it was. Service is wonderful.

Really good food. Staff is very reserved not overly friendly more formal. There is a long wait for the food because they make it while your waiting. The Tandori was excellent not too dry. The sauces were very good and the typical dish of fried okra is a must. I've eaten at this restaurant many times and it's consistently good. It's not your typical Indian restaurant and is more expensive than most. For 5 people the bill came to around 350.00 we had 2 apps 5 entrees.

Amma never disappoints so we keep returning. Traditional dishes, like somosas and saag are made unique with a little extra spice here and there. The service is consistently attentive, but not overdone. The decor is warm and lovely with pretty lighting and chandelier. Wish the place felt a little less squeezed.

The food here is outstanding. I had the grilled lamb chops and the baby eggplant. Both were phenomenal. I also had the garlic nan-which was just OK. I barely tasted the garlic and it was on the dry side. My friend had the saag paneer and loved it.

We ordered vegetarian dishes, they were all good, well prepared and tasty. Waiters were friendly.

Restaurant was busy, little cramped space wise.

Wonderful dinner. The only reason they didn't get five stars is because it got pretty noisy toward the end of our dinner and it took them awhile to bring us our check. Otherwise, just super!

Having eaten here a number of times, I find the food consistent and delicious and at excellent prices. My only complaint is that our waiter constantly "pushed" food on us, strongly suggesting we should order this dish or that, even though we responded just as strongly that we didn't want to order additional food. There were four of us for dinner and we all felt uncomfortable about this. My first reaction is that I wouldn't come back again, but my wife reminded me that this was not the case in previous visits to Amma.

Amma is my favorite Indian restaurant in Manhattan for a reason. The food alone is great, however, when you pair that with their house red (I prefer the Pinot), the friendly staff, and relaxing ambiance, it makes it an experience worth coming back to time and time again.

This is the second time we have eaten at Amma and I am happy to say that, once again, it was a terrific experience from beginning to end. The food is delicious and the service is attentive without being over-bearing. There were four of us, including one vegetarian, and we all LOVED our dinners. And, although we had not notified the restaurant that it was my daughter's birthday, they overheard our toast and very thoughtfully brought her a piece of mango cheesecake. Can't wait to go back!!

Amma is a gem - consistently outstanding food and service. Standouts: fried okra, saag paneer, rosemary naan, chicken korma. All so delicious! Interesting wine list with some fun off-the-beaten-path selections. But the reason we will always go back - the loveliest waitstaff who welcome diners like family.

Such a small, but amazing restaurant. I got there at 6:30 and by 7, the whole place was practically full! Make sure to reserve a table in advance! The non-veg tasting menu with wine pairing was an amazing journey led by extremely attentive staff and the friendliest and most knowledgeable of waiters (Sandeep). I was pleasantly surprised with the plating, authentic tastes and overwhelmingly positive experience! In the past, I've left restaurants still hungry after doing a tasting menu, but the portion sizes were just perfect to really indulge in flavor, while leaving some semblance of room by the end.

The meal was sheer perfection. We had the non-vegetarian tasting menu which was beautifully prepared and delicious. The service was impeccable, with the waiter providing a detailed description of each dish. He aso was dressed in a jacket and tie and added an air of professionalism to the night. There is also a vegetarian menu. I'm eager to return as are my friends!
