Excellent casual atmosphere, cozy lighting and a nice bar. Service was extra nice, both the hostess and our server were friendly and fun. Most wines on the list are Italian, a good selection but the ones I knew were over $100 a bottle, took a chance on a $75 bottle recommended by our server and it was great. We loved the swordfish meatballs, have never seen that before and they were delicious! Pastas are excellent. Splurged on the carrot cake for dessert, worth it. Will go again and recommend to friends.
really good food, lovely service in a relaxed and friendly restaurant. we are looking forward to going back.
The dishes were interesting - especially enjoyed the fresh fava beans with the bass crudo. Octopus was also good. Bucatini was not very exciting. Most of all it was painfully loud. We could not even hear the server until he bent near each of us to speak to us individually.
Everything from service to food to ambiance exceeded my expectations.
Usually a delightful and enjoyable experience but this evening the food came out cold and courses were not paced well, long delays between courses, longer than reasonable. New dishes would come but without fresh serving utensils so had to use spoons from earlier dishes, or flag down a server and ask for a spoon. Usually, Amos, is a great gathering spot for friends but tonight it’s like no manager was on duty.
Great food and service . It gets loud so prepare for that, especially on a warm Friday April night. Some of the best items I’ve eaten so i will be back. Swordfish meatballs and the grilled pork chop... just fantastic
Food is amazing!
Love the new spring menu!
Great food. TERRIBLE service
Quality has changed & not for the better since Vetri owned this place. Frozen peas in the ravioli was a different twist. Portion of pecorino with almond honey was 1/2 of what it was under Vetri's ownership. Wine list was nice. Service was great. Noise level was outrageously loud & would not be cut by Bose noise cancelling headphones. If you go on a weekend, prepare to yell across the table to be heard.
I’ll go back. It was delicious.
As always Amis did not disappoint. From the ever fantastic cacio e pepe to the olive oil cake and strawberry zabaglione and everything in between (swordfish meatballs? Yes!) it’s always phenomenal. Service was also impeccable.
It was incredibly loud, so much so, that I had to ask my friend to repeat everything the waitress said. Found it a bit odd that we couldn't just order a glass of wine, we had to order a carafe. Some of the dishes were very good, but the main entree was just okay.
We have eaten at Amis a few times and the food and service are always top notch.
This was one of the best dinners we’ve had in a while! Definitely going back
Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere!
Anniversary- went to celebrate our anniversary but it was not mentioned at all by the waiter
This is one of two or three best Italian Restaurant s in our City .it is always consistent. Seasonal changes are always happening. Despite the absence of Mark Vetri it has maintained its excellence.
Everything was perfect except for the volume of the music. Sunday brunch is supposed to be the time for relaxing conversations with friends. We could not hear ourselves think with the sound volume the music. Otherwise, our meal was fine.
This was our second time at Amis and we hope for many more. We brought our mother/mother-in-law for her birthday and had a fantastic time. I was particularly impressed by the service, who checked on us just the right amount, and could tell you practically every ingredient in any dish you asked about. The food is PHENOMENAL. I think I could just order all Antipasti they next time I go, but everything is amazing, and I really enjoyed my wine as well. It's a rather loud restaurant, dark with music blasting, so something to keep in mind if you have anyone hard of hearing in your party. I would have appreciated the sound just a tad lower. But we'll definitely be back!
Amis is a great location and this may make me seem old, but the music was really loud. My parents came to visit and it was really hard to have a conversation.
It was really noisy, but the food made us forget all about that! Definitely worthwhile!
We were very impressed with Amis. Food was excellent and portions were just enough. Pasta is fresh and in-house made. Beer selection is good and their signature cocktail was excellent. Wait staff was extremely attentive. Place is noisy, but not so much that you can't have a conversation.
The best pasta in my life! Unbelivable flavor
Our waitron was amazing! She was very knowledgeable about the food and the wines. Her professionalism added to a wonderful dining experience.
Very good service! The ultima signora plate was good, the French toast and the omelet not that much. On the highly noise side, hard to talk
Sadly disappointed with my experience at Amis. After reading reviews, I was expecting the quality of food and drink to be a few brackets higher in quality/taste. The table red wine tasted like it could’ve been bought at a CVS (Barefoot quality), and the food that followed needed some serious reconsideration for flavor. We ordered the cauliflower, bucatini, and chicken... and found ourselves seriously confused on why this restaurant is rated highly. I love Philadelphia restaurants like Estia, Spasso, W.M. Mulherins... which Amis had potential to be like. It didn’t help that the music playing completely didn’t match the vibe of the decor.
The food and service was great. However, the noise level was incredibly loud. It was very difficult to have a conversation as we had to “scream” to hear each other. Also disappointed that some “staples” were taken off the menu, like the tripe. I understand the business aspect of “why it may have been removed”; however, it should be back on the menu!! Perhaps a tasting menu as many people don’t know what it is or if they do, are not adventurous in trying it. It was absolutely delicious!!
This restaurant had great reviews and looked appealing via pictures on the internet. However, as soon as we got there, it was SO dark inside despite it being the middle of the day. The ambiance seemed nice online but in person it was small and not very appealing after all. Not to mention, the food was SO salty we had to send all 3 of our dishes back, for we couldn't finish them even if we wanted to. I left the restaurant with the taste of salt lingering in my mouth for the next 4 hours. To say the least, the quality of the food was not worth the price. On a positive note, the manager handled our situation very well. She apologized, offered to get us something else instead, and not only comped the bill, but she gave me and my friend $20 gift cards as well. Overall, was very disappointed because this restaurant got good reviews but unfortunately I did not agree with them.
Wonderful and warm spot for slightly interestingly imagined ingredient combos. Ace spot for business and pleasure- both of which I came out for.
The food and service was amazing. I would highly recommend this place.
Absolutely delectable and filling Italian food served so share! Incredible pastas, sauces and fish. You have to try the swordfish meatballs, brook trout and veal chop.
Great place. Flavorful, beautiful rustic dishes served by a crew obviously into it. Went by myself and then brought back a group 3 nights later.
The experience was exceptional. From the time we entered the restaurant, our encounters with all of the staff was consistently professional and friendly. I had the special, pork bellies and the roasted chicken. Both were well prepared and extremely delicious. Our server, Jarvas, was very knowledgeable about all the dishes and drink menus. He was an exceptional waiter. A great first experience and can't wait for my next visit.
Thoroughly enjoyed brunch. First time there. Will go back. Only negative was noise level.
Fabulous meal and wonderful service! We'll be back.
We have been to Amis before and loved it. It seemed a bit off this time. Service was so slow, the noise level outrageously loud (a soundtrack of Jimmy Hendricks- the whole album (??) was played from 6:00 to 6:30.). Usually, music is often the bartender's choice, but where the configuration of the restaurant has the bar and dining area in the same space, a little compromise is in order. I was literally yelling at my date the whole time, and left with a raspy voice! That is not my description of a romantic night.
The food, although presented nicely, lacked flavor. All of the dishes lacked flavor. Why, who knows. But somehow bland is not what the chef had in mind for his menu. We thought the prices were too high- $12 for a glass of generic wine, and the apps too were too high for what they were.
I wanted to love it but didn't. Maybe next time will be better, but this time was an overall disappointment from A-Z. Service was so slow as well, and with almost every seat taken, we wondered why the kitchen had not jump-started their line that night. We will be back because we want to embrace our neighborhood restaurants. Young people have to support the scene, but this visit was disappointing.
Amazing. This was our second time coming here and it's been a long time since our first, and I only wish we hadn't waited so long. The food is spectacular, our waiter was friendly and helpful and fast, the bar service was quick, and for how delicious the meal was I was shocked that it didn't cost us more!
