The food was excellent as always. We love the sweetbreads and octopus appetizers. The duck breast special was extraordinary.
Thoroughly enjoyed the daily "beast" of roast duck breast. But also had the escarole salad as a light starter. The heirloom tomato and roasted corn is a perfect salad / side dish for the summer. The bass crudo with raw corn is also a great summer addition.
Brunch at Amis was amazing. I had visited for dinner and loved it, so we went back to try the brunch. Cocktails were delicious and refreshing, coffee was perfect, and the food was outstanding. Our server Liz did a great job answering questions, refilling coffee, getting fresh rounds of drinks, and pacing our meal. One of the best brunches in Philly!
Our go-to for terrific Bufala Ricotta Bruschetta and Bucatini. Server was knowledgeable and delightful. Would like to see a couple of smoky and/or peppery wines on the list. Overall, Amis is excellent!
The restaurant looks nice with outdoor seating as an option. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Our server addressed all of our questions and was patient with us. I really wanted to love the food. However, I got the fettuccine with corn. It was very soggy. The noodles all melded together under this kind of sweet corn sauce. I was craving al dente noodles that I can twirl around in my fork. The noodles were just way overcooked and the sauce was underwhelming.
Phenomenal! We will certainly visit -and enjoy- again!
First visit, expected much better. Seated at a table for two, and luckily it was against the wall because the tables were so close it felt like the restaurant added the strangers seated next to us to our reservation. The bread for the buratta bruschetta was toasted so much that the crust was mostly black and it really took away from our enjoyment of the dish. Tried the pork parmigiana entree and wouldn't recommend it. The old school meatballs were the highlight of the meal.
One of my favorite places in Philly. They were so great for my birthday and went the extra mile to treat us well.
This is my third time dining at Amis for dinner and it will certainly be my last. Service is always great but the food is never consistent. My first time here was amazing (years ago when they first opened). However, the pasta was extremely undercooked the second time I dined here and everything was so salty this time around. And the toasted bread is always way too burnt. I don't mind paying more for good, high quality food but this place charges way too much for subpar food.
We went here for a friend’s birthday. We were seated right on time. While the service was great, the food was good, but just okay for the price point. The ambience suffered due to a large group sitting near us that talked extraordinarily loudly. We were happy when they got their food and the restaurant got much quieter. We tried a bruschetta and the swordfish meatballs. Both were delicious. I had the pork chop parmigiana which was tasty, though the meat was quite fatty. Overall it’s a good place with excellent service. I’d like to try it again, hopefully without the noisy neighbors. I think it would be a much better experience.
Amazing food!!!! Amazing experience
Lovely appetizers and meal, good by the glass wine list. A solid choice when dining out.
It is a relatively small restaurant with a good amount of tables. It had a nice modern design. We had the grilled octopus, eggplant bruschetta, cacio e pepe, and bucatini pesto. The grilled octopus had lots of red peppers but it wasn't hot or spicy. The cacio e pepe was a little dry with not much cheese. It didn't have the richness of other places. It was a nice leisurely dinner.
This is our go-to spot for pre-theater dinner in the city. Even though we're there before most of the dinner crowd, the service is always spot on - super nice and extremely knowledgeable about the whole menu. Food never disappoints and is always fresh and delicious.
The Cavatelli was absolutely amazing, and the service was outstanding!!
Food is fantastic... depending where you sit it gets VERY load. You can't hear yourself think.
Always wonderful eating here! Father’s Day brunch outside (we brought our dog). Perfect food, drinks, & outside shaded seats.
A wonderful evening! Excellent food, great wines and a friendly staff. We enjoyed sitting at a counter overlooking the kitchen, which led to fun conversations with the kitchen staff. The noise level can be a bit high, but if that doesn't bother you too much, this place is a wonderful choice.
Very good food and service. The only negative is that a lot of the tables are very close together. I recommend the pasta with the almonds and jalapeños and the pork chop parmigiana they are both delicious. My husband had the rice pudding and I had the coconut tre lece cake (special dessert) for dessert and they were both awesome
Waitress was so nice and realized it was my birthday when asking for my ID. She took upon herself to bring dessert to the table with a candle. Overall great experience
Disappointing experience from a great chef. Fried cauliflower wonderful. Pasta menu too unusual for general appeal and entrees too standard. Great rice pudding. Wouldn’t go back.
Food as usual was amazing. Service seemed rushed and disjointed
We tried the swordfish meatballs and they were more fishy than expected while the regular ones were just that... very expected. The tonnarelli “cacio e Pepe” pasta was bland and forgettable while the grilled lamb loin’s sauce was extremely salty. Excellent flavor just way too salty. When we asked the waiter about it - they said that’s the way it’s supposed to be. But didn’t offer to taste it etc. So who knows.
If you don’t want to just do drinks and apps, i would honestly skip this place - it’s phoning it in. Service was pretty good and everyone was very friendly - but food was a miss.
We have been to Amis many times and love that the menu changes from time to time while our favorite dishes do stay. Keep up the vegetarian-friendly offerings! Our server was kind and professional. The staff help each other out with is nice to see.
For a nice evening out, my husband and I chose Amis for the first time. The atmosphere is cute... rustic/ industrial/ modern. The small tables are very close together; so close that the table has to be moved to seat a person, even skinny/ small people. If you’re larger, it would be embarrassing. That being said, our server, Amy, I believe, was very hardworking.... it’s a shame the servers have to strain their voices over the loud noise in the restaurant. She made great suggestions for food and wine. The food was creative and tasty with the exception of way too much SALT on the thin sliced pork appetizer and the black pepper pasta dish. We couldn’t stand to eat them, although we weren’t asking for a refund; just hoping the cooks use more restraint with the salt in the future. It truly tasted like salt was accidentally spilled on two of these dishes. The cookies for dessert were amazing!! The other dishes were great: caponata, homemade ricotta and crostini, escarole salad, and delicious swordfish meatballs. Yum! We’ll try going back again, but sheesh, watch the salt!
Everyone from the front desk to the wait staff were very pleasant and welcoming . Wine, appetizer and main courses very tasty and finished with a fine tiramisu. Nice experience and we will return. Thanks for a great evening.
overall, the food is delicious and the service is good. The meatballs are excellent, and the octopus over potato salad was great, but a bit sparse on the amount of octopus. The pastas are great. Rigatoni Bolognese was very good. The big disapointment was that the waffle maker was broken so they could not deliver their signature dessert.
I am italian and I have very high expectations On the subject of food. Amis was incredible!
Love this place; it's truly one of my favorites in Center City. However, this last visit we could not wait to get our check and leave because it was SO LOUD. We could not even hear each other over the table. We kept a sense of humor about it, but it was disappointing that our date night was kind of ruined by the noise level.
Always outstanding food, but don't go here for a quiet dinner.
Good food, good service. Wine prices are absurdly high.
Real good food, but I think a bit overpriced given the size of the portions. If the portions were larger than I could totally justify the prices, but unfortunately that’s not the case.
Fun atmosphere, interesting menu, great service from wait staff. What we had was very good and I would recommend this restaurant. Not sure if I would return, I can not eat garlic and my options were very limited.
Fabulous food and great service. We will definitely be back!!!
Very good atmosphere, excellent service, and excellent food!
Fun place with great food. I had sword fish which was excellent. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced.
Artichoke appetizer was tasty and fresh pasta dish was great, but bruschetta was over-oiled, leaving a greasy impression, pork chop was drowned in a bland tomato sauce, and zabaglione was half-melted by the time it made it to the table. Service seemed rushed and inattentive. Interior is dark and noisy.
Sarah was our server - attentive, able to describe every dish on the menu and make recommendations. Food was fabulous. Ambiance - lighting low and great soundtrack playing just the music we liked, yet not so loud that it prevented conversation. We were surprised there were not more patrons, but it was a Monday night. We will be back!
Everything was great! Started with a bruschetta, amazing. Loved the bucatini with almond pesto and the garlic chicken. Followed by the delicious olive oil cake and tartufo!! excellent server. Can’t wait to go back soon.
Amis is the BEST!!! My fiancé and I love this restaurant! The kitchen can do no wrong!!!
Chef Drew is the BEST! Amis is our absolute favorite spot. If you want delicious homey Italian with a creative twist then Amis can’t be beat.
