Out server was very knowledgeable about menu and helped us with ordering decisions. She went above and beyond in providing a celebratory ice cream for the person we were celebrating that evening.
Food was delicious and also attractively presented. The prices are a bit steep for alacarte. Would be nice to include a small salad with dinners. The service sizes are excellent. Enough th be satisfied but not so large as to be overly filling.
Great place for our Holiday gathering of friends. Food was yummy as we shared pasta and entrees to try a little bit of everything!
Liked the food! Wished the service was faster, but I understand if that’s part of the experience
Quite disappointed. After eating here a number of times on business travel the kitchen slipped badly this meal. The crostini’s were excessively salted and the bucatini had lost its way.
Our second time here. Enjoyed it the first time about 6 months ago. Second time was even better. The wait staff was very attentive and very friendly and engaging. Food was tasty, well prepared and inventive. Will recommend strongly to others and definitely be back again. BTW very short walk to Broad Street theaters, etc.
I love this restaurant & don’t get there as often as I would like. The food is wonderful & so is the service.
Sat at the “chef’s table” overlooking the kitchen. Enjoyed it quite a bit and would recommend for someone who is ok with a non-traditional seating arrangement. Bucatini was great and the shells were even better. Recommended wine paired well. Highly recommend.
It was SO GOOD. The wine was fantastic, we had the eggplant bruschetta, the roasted brussels sprouts and all of the pasta options. We were all so pleased, the cacio e pepe was my favorite.
The food was outstanding and the service matched it.
Pre-Ballet X at the Wilma. The food and service were great and we had a great time! Our issue was the noise level which made me nearly lose my voice by the time we left. If you like quiet, go early! But the rest of the experience was A-1!!!
The food was absolutely terrible. I always order the cacio e Pepe and it was nothing like it used to be. It was overly peppered with no other flavor. My husband ordered the jalepeno pasta and it had zero flavor. They rushed to take our order all at once, quickly rushed our appetizer away and then never came back for a second drink order. It’s like it’s a high end diner now where the focus is on turnover, yet the bill is about $100 for two entrees and two drinks. We used to LOVE this place but the service has gone so far down hill as has the quality of food. Will not be back.
Loved this place! Service is truly outstanding - a huge plus. Menu is fairly limited and portions are small but honestly best Cosmo martini I have had in years!! Service is wonderful - great suggestions - on food and wine. Really liked the atmosphere - warm and inviting. Would love to just sit at the bar next time and get plates to share. Portions on the mains are small for the price.
I've been to Amis many times before. The food quality is going down in my opinion. We had a raw fluke dish with pomegranate seeds and grapefruit that had absolutely no taste. It was bland and uninspired. The roasted cauliflower lacked any real distinct flavor. Maybe Monday night is an off night or maybe the original passion is gone. Either way, the ambiance far outweighs the food quality at this point.
I went to Amis last year before the Philadelphia Marathon. It was Fantastic! This year I brought my family and while I made reservations way in advance, I asked if we could put my family together. They definitely helped to make sure we sat together so I really appreciate the effort to make it work. However, from the time we got there to the the time we left I felt like they wanted us out. They rushed us thru the entire meal. I was also so disappointed in my meal. I ordered the sweet potato ravioli - the ravioli was extremely al dente and some were really hot and some were cold - I Could not believe this is the place I had raved about for a full year. The meal was so disappointing. I was really hoping for another awesome meal and it was not, nor was it a relaxing or enjoyable dinner before my big race. #sodisappointed
We were there for an employee‘s 30th anniversary and everything was great.
Eggplant was disappointing - tough and chewy - advertised as Eggplant Parmesan but wasn’t what I expected.
Wonderful small place. Great service and outstanding food. Best pasta I’ve had.
Wonderful service and special food. We went for our anniversary and they made it a very special occasion for us. I'm always blown away by the staff's knowledge of the food and wine. Bravo!
Wonderful seasonal food selections, sharable plates, cozy dining room, and great overall experience. Had a pair of seats at the kitchen bar which was perfect for two friends. Definitely a little loud, but no tvs or other distractions. Food was fantastic! Will definitely go again.
Came in with a friend for dinner on my bachelor party weekend and sat with Katie at the bar. One of the best bartenders I’ve ever had. Was so helpful and knowledgable with the wine list and menu. We had a couple apps that were excellent (I think one was a crudo. So fresh and delicious.) but the pasta special was outstanding. Actually, both pastas were great! For dessert my friend chose the ricotta cake and raves about it. And for the finish, some delicious affogato.
Thanks again to Katie for making this a really special evening!!
We were a group of 5 celebrating a birthday on a Thursday evening. It was so noisy, we were unable to talk to anyone except the person next to us, and we still had to shout. The food and drinks were somewhat uneven: the lamb chops were good, but the vegetable on the plate was cold. One cocktail was mostly a glass of ice. The ravioli was too salty and somewhat greasy. The server, who wanted to please, brought out a free dessert upon hearing that the ravioli was not enjoyed. The other three guests were enthusiastic about their meals and our server was attentive, but the overwhelming noise spoiled the evening and prevented us from enjoying each other's company.
The space is small and tables are close together, so there is noise, but conversation was possible. Warm atmosphere. Service was excellent: quick, attentive, pleasant and not obtrusive. No long recitation of specials, which was a relief. Nice selection of wines by the glass. The lamb chops, though thicker than I like (2 ribs each), were still almost medium rare, and quite tasty.
Wonderful food but I couldn’t hear anything from across the table. Way too loud for anyone who wants to have a conversation. This was a Saturday night, by the way.
I can’t believe that I was in town for business and placed a reservation and the table we were first given had what looked like a sewer pole running next to it. From floor to ceiling. Unimpressed, the staff was able to place us at another table which was cramped in-between to other tables with people already dining. They were polite and moved their things so we could sit. Right, away we noticed that the noise level was ridiculously loud. Couldn’t even hear the conversation we were trying to have. Food and service was good. We definitely wouldn’t recommend this place if your trying to have a nice dinner. Maybe better for groups but, with the way the seating is set that may also be a problem.
Great atmosphere and food. We split the antipasto, pasta and entree and enjoyed excellent food with the chef’s special touch. Would definitely go back.
The first time we dined here it was at an outdoor table. This time we were inside. The food is very good but the overloud, thumping non-music guarantees we will never dine Indoors again.
Best restaurant in Philly
We went early to avoid crowds on a Saturday night. We took some friends for their first visit to Amis. Friendly staff was the first thing we all noticed. Helpful and cheerful, not too much however. Food was amble and very good. I found the price very reasonable and the atmosphere very relaxed and comfortable. Will certainly go back again.
Everything went well, except for the fact that the roast chicken was dry not moist
Our wait staff member was cheerful without being over the top - her delivery of service was polished and professional. Having recently returned from Italy, we found the food to be as close to "authentic" as we'd hoped...a few perfect ingredients prepared in a skillful way. The interior space with its warm wood tones and lighting was very welcoming on a chilly evening. The wine list had some nice values, too. We will return!
Everything was fantastic!!
A bit noisy especially when two diners are in their 70s. I had to lean into the table to hear (i’m only 50). But place is very comfy and if I lived nearby I’d likely eat at the bar a lot. Waiter comped our starter because said took so long. We thought that was very nice and unnecessary but we appreciated it. Scallops with beets and the half chicken were very good.
Food was very good and service was great.. The atmosphere was lively, upbeat urban chic!!!
Love this place! We visit frequently highly Recommend
Amis is one of my husband’s and I favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. Food is wonderful, drinks are delicious, and atmosphere is perfect!
Went for Brunch, exceeded our expectations
All around awesome. Food was great. Ambiance was great. Food came quickly and service was great. Very impressed.
The food was fantastic!
We had Sal's meatballs (omg! Just like my grandmothers!) The caponata for appetizers. I had fettuccine with corn and peas sooo light! My sister had spicy bucatini. My husband the rib eye.
Pastas were fabulous and hubby's steak cooked perfectly!
My only issue is it is so loud in there you cannot have a conversation with your table. It's a shame because otherwise I would go all the time.
The vegetable selection is too limited and only comes fried. The food was heavy and the pasta cacio pepe chewy.
The octopus was very good but there again came with fried or heavily sautéed zucchini.
