Amici Restaurant - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Don't know if the problem was with Open Table or the restaurant, but we made a reservation on line for 8 people last Saturday night and when we showed up, the lights were off and the restaurant was closed. Tried calling and got an answering machine. Very difficult to find a table, much less for 8 people, on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend in Boston's North End. Very fortunate that the owner of Riccardo's accommodated us. Still, very disappointed with Amici.
A very quiet out of the way restaurant. We totally enjoyed our meal and talking with the waitress and owner. It was a family affair and memorable. The food was outstanding with local fresh cheese, basil, tomatoes, etc. We stayed a long time and just relaxed, enjoyed the meal, dessert, wine and the company. Can't wait to go back.
My husband and I were going to a Celtics game and we didn't want to eat in dinner in the pub scene. We looked at reviews and came up with Amici and it did not disappoint. Very generous glasses of wine and dinner. The owner came over and said hello filling us in on the area and how she and her husband live upstairs. She ended up buying us a drink and joining us for one too. Very pleasant and enjoyable and a quick walk to the Garden too.
Nice, little and cozy! This Italian restaurant worked well before a Bruins game and is literally 5 mins walk from the TD Garden. It's not huge, so a big party is not recommended. It was pretty open seating an hour prior to the game so it was quick (I assume everyone decided to be at the bars surrounding the TD Garden instead, too bad their loss). If you want to eat before an event at TD, this is a great place!
We made a reservation for 4:45, arrived at 4:30 the place was closed. The door said they were opening at 4:30 on nights there were Bruins/Celtics games or other events at the Garden. It was a Bruins night, we were going to the game after dinner. They did not open that night and never posted on the door that they would not be opening that night.
While the food was solid, the service was absolutely terrible. And I'm not one to be picky. However, we were ignored multiple times (despite the restaurant being empty), and when we asked for chili powder very nicely, the server told us "you've come to the wrong establishment. we don't serve that here." All around, the staff was very antagonistic for some reason. Would definitely not return or recommend to anyone.
The wait staff was horrible. Dirty clothes, yelling back and forth. One waitress got in the face of the perdona clearing tables in front of dinners the food was a little better than good.
The woman behind the counter had bandages on her neck and ear she her clothes were dirty. They then couldn't run the credit card machine -and I qoute " this machine only takes credit cards" really and the MC logo on my card is what? In short: unprofessional staff, not a very clean environment, lacking front of the house professional and friendly staff.
We had dinner for 12 people on Sat night, which we had booked on Open Table earlier in the day. We were happy to get this reservation because many other restaurants in the North End were full. The staff was very attentive and even helped us find parking when we called them to say we were late because all the lots were full due to the Bruins game. The food was perfect!
This place is a gem! ... and a far cry from the touristic, "authentic" Italian food of Hanover Street. The food was delicious and the service was personable. The eggplant rolotini is the best I've had– ever!
I will definitely make Amici my choice for dining in Boston's North End!
When we arrived it was clearly a place in duress. We weren't in a hurry so elected to stay because of the reviews on opentable. It was ten minutes before we were greeted. We observed at least three tables leave after waiting over an hour for their food to arrive without eating. Our meatball appetizer was good and arrived quickly. Our entrees were an hour later. Very limited choices. The veal Marsala was very small. the worst part was when all the other tables had left the staff sat down to eat all the abandoned meals they had boxed up and forgot about us. We wanted coffee and dessert but was never offered. I went up to them to get our check. I don't understand how this place is in business.
Could not have been a worse experience. No AC, credit card machine broken. After 1 1/2 hr. wait at our table we left with no meal. Not so much as an apology. I guess they are used to disappointed customers. Several others had to leave as well. What a night!
What a disorganized mess. No air conditioning on a hot August night. Our table was never cleaned. The wait staff were harried and unhelpful. The atmosphere was chaotic. Despite asking for our check when our food came so we could make it to a concert, it never came. We just left money on the table and split. They claimed their credit card machine was down but I wonder if they just don't want to pay the fees or are not honest in their bookkeeping. We only stayed because we had no choice at that point if we were going to eat before the concert. I called other places in the area but they couldn't seat is. The ravioli was fine but not spectacular enough to compensate for the miserable dining experience.
This was the worst dinning experience I ever had after making an open table reservation. My sister and I were taking our mother to see Barbra Streisand at the TD garden. I made a reservation at Amici for 3 at 6pm. When we got there, there was a line and people ahead of us had reservations also. There was no place to wait other than on stairs or on top of 1st floor dinners. We didnt get seated until 620. We told the ?hostess as she was seating us that we had tickets for 8p and needed to be out of there by 745. Her response "honey everyone here is doing the same thing."
We had already looked at the menu so when the waitress first came by we ordered drinks, an appetizer and our meals. Of course when we sat down, we were given a special limited menu but we were able to quickly pick what sounded like delicious items. Our drinks and appetizer came pretty timely and the eggplant rolatini was pretty good.
At 700 we stopped the waitress to ask about our meals and she said they were coming right up. Again at 715 we were told the same. At 730, over an hour since we ordered and 90 minutes from our reservation time, I spoke to the waitress again, saying if we didnt get our food by 735 we would not have time to eat it. Again we were told it was coming right out. 740 came and no meal. I grabbed another waitress and said we had to leave and asked for the bill of what we had already eaten and to cancel meals. They gave us the bill and did not even offer to comp the appetizer. As we were leaving we saw another table going thru the exact same thing: saying they had to leave for the concert and could not wait any longer for the meal.
Overall the staff were very rude, the place was either understaffed or completely disorganized. Why we tipped them I dont know. I think we felt bad that it was such a mess.
I would NEVER go back to Amici and suggest none of you all do either. Luckily we all laughed but it ruined my mom's birthday surprise.
I like low key places that have great food. This place was low key but food was average at best.
If you need to "fill the hole" this place will do. If you want something nice there are lots of better choices a few blocks away.
