The American Tap Room - Rockville Town Center is CLOSED. It was good when it was open. Now you have to go to Bethesda. Haven't been there yet.

The food was fine and our son loves the cotton candy drink. The place was empty on a Sunday night and our waiter was too attentive. For example, he rushed us and offered dessert when I still had half of my dinner still uneaten on my plate. There was no reason to push us out the door. We were quiet and the place was dead so we felt rather annoyed and may not return because of it.

Awesome food and phenomenal service! The food came out promptly and was well seasoned. The waiter had amazing conversion and great service. Overall good time!

Good tool more than 25 minutes to arrive and 2/5 of the orders were incorrect. I do have to commend the manager for quickly fixing the issue but eating dinner with children and having to get their dinners remade, waiting so long really put a damper on our dining experience.

We wanted to celebrate Mother's Day by going to brunch. My wife checked on-line and this brunch sounded like it offered a variety of foods that we would enjoy and was close to home. We had eaten brunch a couple years ago at their Bethesda location and thought it was just okay. This brunch clearly outshone our visit to Bethesda. There was a large variety of items, and for the most part, everything was delicious. Our waiter seemed new at the task but tried to be very accommodating. One problem - we ordered orange juice which cost extra and when he brought it, the glass was full of ice which cuts down on the amount of juice. I asked whether they kept the orange juice in a refrigerator. When he said yes, I asked why the juice was served in a glass full of ice. He said he had gotten it from the bar and that's how they prepare OJ at the bar. He took it back and brought us a glass of just orange juice. But this was a minor thing and we still agreed that the brunch was much better than what we expected and we would return again.

Went for Mother's Day brunch and it was not anything special. Food was all over cooked and cold. We could have had a much better meal for the price elsewhere.

Happy hour appetizers excellent. Love fish tacos and Phoenix wings (spices dry rub). Also enjoyed mussels but other two much better. Happy hour wines use to be higher brands , now Canyon Road, so passed and happy with White Cosmo which was a good choice. Service good. Only disappointments, consistently had problems with free WiFi so turned it off. Also checked into Yelp and pleasantly surprised to get 10% off food. Employee told me to accept now vs save for later and then manager stated not good for happy hour which I understand but now I lost discount and 10% off happy hour would be less than on regular meals, so should have honored. Oh well, enjoyed food and drink.

This was my third time going to American Tap Room and my experience wasn't as good as the first two times. For some reason, the food items we ordered tasted pretty salty, and a bit sour, especially the soup and salad. Not sure what happened, but the quality of the foods seemed a bit lower and different than the last time I visited this place. Not sure if I want to go back again since it wasn't that good of an experience last time out compared to the first 2 visits. Maybe if the menu selection was better and the quality of the food was tastier, will think about going back.

Went there a few weeks ago and it was great. They since changed the menu, and the food was horrible this time. Pretzels were hard as a rock, chicken was overcooked, salmon was tough and needed a knife to saw through it. Kids didnt even like the fries!

We showed up for our reservation right on time, but no table available, so we sat in the bar instead. About the only thing that was good was the beer...the food was simply atrocious, even for "pub grub" and so heavily salted that my two teenagers didn't finish their dinners. After we complained to our wait staff, we heard crickets...no discount, no apologies,nothing. Full bill...well, sure, that will build future customer interest...

Just stay away...

I believe ATR may just have started doing a brunch service at the Rockville Town Center location because the restaurant was very empty when we visited. The brunch, however, is very nice. There is a good variety of well-prepared and tasty food and the price is reasonable. The pancakes were very good, as were sausages and the omelette bar. The more lunch-y foods like the blackened tilapia and salad were also tasty. The service was adequate: even though there were few people in the restaurant, our coffee was rarely refilled and finished plates were infrequently bussed.

The waiter recommended the NY Strip over the Ribeye. I was going to order the NY anyhow, which was better than most, but my friend ordered the Ribeye in spite of the waiter's warning... and it came overcooked. This is in part to do with the very thin cut. He didn't return it primarily because he didn't want to throw off the timing of the dinner. I didn't push it. But if I had ordered it I would most definitely would have sent it back. This is not a fluke... the waiter already knew there was a potential problem here. Why wouldn't a reasonable restaurant address this issue? The steak, which is not cheap, couldn't have been more than 1/2 inch.

Food was very good. Service was terrible. Waited about 10 minutes, no waiter. Finally had to go ask for someone to come to table. Waiter was not at all knowledgable about beer selection. Had to continually waive him down for water refills, drink orders, etc. wasn't even crowded. May go back and sit at bar.

Didn't get 4/6 orders coirrect, we mentioned it was a birthday, didn't ask but brough a piece of cake and charged us $7.00 for the cake. Asked for my ice tea to go, said they ran out of to go cups. Disappointing. Have been there two other times and the experience was much better. Maybe an off day?
