No wonder the one in Rockville went out of business. This one will be out soon too. The service was one of the worst Ive ever had. Will never go back.
The staff was very nice. The food was really good. It’s a nice place to have dinner in Bethesda
Fun for a gathering to watch a game and have a few drinks, but not a place I'd choose for a nice meal. The food was just ok, lacked flavor and variety. Service was prompt and friendly though.
Everything was great! This is one of my fav restaurants in the dmv!
We had a quiet early dinner at 6:00 pm on a Friday before heading to an evening event. The vegetarian entrée was very good though I have to admit the best part was the decidedly not vegetarian roasted Brussels sprouts which I subbed for the spinach. Our waiter was great.
Less than mediocre food that was not cheap. I hadn’t been in a while and usually like it a lot but this time was disappointing.
Staff was really upbeat, friendly and energetic!
The Brussel sprouts were delicious!!!! The burger had the perfect char on it!
Great selection of food and drinks, wonderful service.
Not sure what happened to this restaurant. It used to have good food and a creative menu. Now its an unimaginative menu and the quality is really bad. But still expensive. Had crab cakes with shells in them. That and ribeye were both $35 each. Ceasar with fried chicken came out with grilled chicken. Drinks were good though and pretzel bread.
Also greek turkey burger referenced in open table summary is no longer on menu.
Also waiter couldn’t tell us what beer was on tap other than menu. Turns out there was only one.
I had the all you can eat brunch and it was a fantastic value. The service was attentive with our requests. I was worried that sitting outside would affect this, but we didn’t have an issue. Food was good, and overall an enjoyable experience I would revisit again.
Waiter was a little weird
Just okay . Salmon was bland.
I could have made a better omelette at home. It was greasy, and the vegetables were not fresh.
This was one of the most hideous restaurant experiences I have ever had. First of all, the waitress was completely unable to hear us over the blaring Capitals game, and she kept speaking to my mother (who is physically disabled) as if she were a small child. Then she recommended the calamari - which was a mess. They came out cold, there were probably only 8 total pieces, and they were covered in a disgusting sweet and sour sauce. The ceaser salads we ordered came with barely any dressing, and the lettuce was not fresh (for a shocking $11). My mother ordered the "dirty ceasar", but received a regular one. Then, she somehow misheard my order of "burger, medium" as "salmon"??? So I had to wait an extra ten minutes after everyone else received their food. My mother and husband both ordered flat iron steak, medium -- which came out burnt on the top and well-done/over-done -- no part of the middle was pink whatsoever. Then they were out of the one dessert (strawberry shortcake) I wanted -- at 8:30 pm.
I don't know what happened to this place from the last time we came here a couple years ago (had light up ipad menus, nice fireplace running, decent menu) to now - but it felt like paying 3x as much for a worse-quality-than-TGIFridays meal. I will probably NEVER come here again. Please avoid at all costs. This restaurant needs to be turned over into the great place that location in Bethesda deserves.
I am consistently underwhelmed by ATR. I decided to give in to my kids' request to go - a request that I attribute mostly to a kids drink they have (though is no longer on the menu) with cotton candy on top. After a very mediocre, soupy, and decidedly uncheesy mac-and-cheese, I suspect that at least one of them will not ask again; he left more than half of it and didn't want to bring home leftovers. The pretzel rolls we started with were actually decent, though they must have had a shortage on cheese, b/c the warm cheese dip with these was also soupy and not at all cheesy. Had to send my flat iron steak back, b/c it arrived well done instead of the requested medium rare. Took so long to get the fixed dish that my kids were mostly done by the time it arrived (with cool to lukewarm, gummy mashed potatoes; the brussel sprouts were good, though not the promised "crispy"). ATR is too expensive and there are too many better options in CC/Bethesda to spend any more money here.
We wanted a simple dinner with visiting friends we hadn’t seen in a while, but ended up embarrassed we selected this train wreck of an experience! One entree showed up before the appetizers, other entrees took forever, salmon over cooked and hard, chicken undercooked and hard, simple dinner took two hours. We wanted to order drinks but the server was missing for most of the meal. Terrible service, barely palatable food, zero ambiance. Manager took 50% off our bill to apologize for the bad, out of order service but nothing got better after she intervened. Then just after 9pm while waiting forever for our check, the DJ showed up and music was blasting so loud in the dining room it was impossible to talk. And we got a parking ticket because this all took so long. Never going back.
Good, huge portion, of Jambalaya.
Nice pub/bar for sports watching. Friendly service.
Food was not memorable. Portions were small. Dinner and small plates were basic/average fair.
Was not happy with brunch experience here.
Took more than an hour to get two entrees with no variations
The service was excellent. However, the restaurant recently changed its menu. The new menu, which was not on the website, reduces the number of different choice for food. For example, the restaurant now only has one choice of burger. The change in menu made it difficult to find a non-salad healthier choice for dinner.
Poor service poor value
Aweful. Food was terrible and so was the service.
The waiter was awful, the noise level unacceptable, the time between courses horrific and the food lousy.
Food was sub-par at best. We ordered truffle fries and watch a table get the same thing as us, but double the amount. Also portion sizes were not worth the price and came almost cold to the table. The server took 10 minutes to get us the bill and we were sitting right be the register. The manager checked on us more than our waiter did. Will NOT be returning.
Ingredients are listed for their foods, however not all ingredients are listed. For example as an appetizer we ordered the Bourbon Street Flatbread which on the menu listed the following ingredients: Andouille Sausage, Peppers, Cajun Chicken, and Fontina Cheese. However there was no mention of onions or celery. We sent the flatbread back because of this and asked for a new flatbread without onions. 20 minutes later a second flatbread was brought out but it was a completely different flatbread. We then had to send that one back as well. Another 20 minutes later the correct flatbread without onions had been sent. Of course by this time everyone had finished their meals and were ready to pay. Although the manager was quite friendly and attentive, our waitress was not. In the end, we were still charged for the flatbread.
It was a Friday night and the place was pretty dead. The host didn't understand what OpenTable was and just tried to sit us. We skipped the empty dining area and sat at the bar instead. The bar was understaffed and had to wait with empty glasses each time. Our food was slow to come but tasted well.
Everything was great; our server was greater than great. Food was good; drinks were excellent.
The only down-side: the chef does not easily understand "rare" and "well done," so if you care, take a little extra time with your fine server and ask him/her to make clear to the kitchen what you want.
Service was terrible and food was mediocre
We have ATR another try, even after being totally ignored last time. But two picky kids and a desire to see sports on TV limits choices, even in Bethesda. Waiter was nice but quite interested in his personal phone which he checked constantly. We sat in booth near kitchen and watched as our food got cold. And man, was it cold. I think they simply can’t find good help, but they won’t be getting any more money out of us.
Nice atmosphere, but food came out wrong three different times! Made for a very disjointed meal. Manager comped my entree but ruined the experience of eating out.
The place used to have great service until about a year or so ago. By "great" I mean fast attentive service. Gone are the days when they immediately brought out water to the table and then immediately take drink orders. Now, they set down napkins and walk away for 5 minutes, while you're thirsty for anything - even a glass of water. Once food is served, wait staff nowhere to be seen. After food finished, waited 10 minutes to be able to grab the waiter's attention to get check. Been there three times before this review date (8/8/18) and I don't see improvement. So, I can't see myself going back when the service is too poor. they're friendly, but God, I just wanted them to come to the table more often and see how we are doing. Instead, we could see the wait staff laughing it up with either the manager/bar staff/or kitchen. Dunno, I thought they were there to make money, not yuk it up. Place was half empty on a typically busy night and hour. I don't see this place surviving in 6-9 months. It doesn't get crowded anymore, and you can experience why - for yourself.
My food was under cooked, not the best service. I would not recommend this place.
Food quality was extremely poor.
Aside from the overall food quality, one of our party asked for hot water and what was served was a brownish liquid that looked like it had been through a coffee filter.
Easy dinner spot with a nice opportunity to enjoy the evening at the sidewalk tables.
This restaurant once had a breakfast buffet in the weekends. This was the reason we came. However the this has become a all you can eat brunch. Where you pick from a brunch menu. It is definitely not the same experience of a nice weekend brunch.Instead you have a confused server that really tried his best but it did not work after all.
the level of the food was really poor. and this became also an expensive way to eat brunch.
So definitely not recommended. This was our last visit to this restaurant.
American tap room has a great location. We've attended then Reston business several times. This location was good as well. There dirty Caesar salad with Salmon was excellent.
This would have been a great Sunday get together with old friend but server
Kept interrupting because she wasn't familiar with menu. Didn't know what went with what, forgot to take our order of side dishes etc. Frustrating.
Waiter was terrible. Bartender and other wait staff had to do his job for him because he was AWOL for most of our meal. Other than that, the experience was pretty good. Food consists of pretty typical pub/bar fare.
