This is American Regional Cuisine at its classic, pub-inspired best. The food is fun and what we like to call “approachable”. You’ll also enjoy some twists on the classics with taste-inspired ideas like our Dirty Caesar Salad and Greek Turkey Burger. At the American Tap Room we believe in using local ingredients as much as possible and, yes, everything we serve goes well with beer.

Food was sub-par at best. We ordered truffle fries and watch a table get the same thing as us, but double the amount. Also portion sizes were not worth the price and came almost cold to the table. The server took 10 minutes to get us the bill and we were sitting right be the register. The manager checked on us more than our waiter did. Will NOT be returning.

Ingredients are listed for their foods, however not all ingredients are listed. For example as an appetizer we ordered the Bourbon Street Flatbread which on the menu listed the following ingredients: Andouille Sausage, Peppers, Cajun Chicken, and Fontina Cheese. However there was no mention of onions or celery. We sent the flatbread back because of this and asked for a new flatbread without onions. 20 minutes later a second flatbread was brought out but it was a completely different flatbread. We then had to send that one back as well. Another 20 minutes later the correct flatbread without onions had been sent. Of course by this time everyone had finished their meals and were ready to pay. Although the manager was quite friendly and attentive, our waitress was not. In the end, we were still charged for the flatbread.

It was a Friday night and the place was pretty dead. The host didn't understand what OpenTable was and just tried to sit us. We skipped the empty dining area and sat at the bar instead. The bar was understaffed and had to wait with empty glasses each time. Our food was slow to come but tasted well.

Everything was great; our server was greater than great. Food was good; drinks were excellent.
The only down-side: the chef does not easily understand "rare" and "well done," so if you care, take a little extra time with your fine server and ask him/her to make clear to the kitchen what you want.

We have ATR another try, even after being totally ignored last time. But two picky kids and a desire to see sports on TV limits choices, even in Bethesda. Waiter was nice but quite interested in his personal phone which he checked constantly. We sat in booth near kitchen and watched as our food got cold. And man, was it cold. I think they simply can’t find good help, but they won’t be getting any more money out of us.

Food quality was extremely poor.

Aside from the overall food quality, one of our party asked for hot water and what was served was a brownish liquid that looked like it had been through a coffee filter.

This restaurant once had a breakfast buffet in the weekends. This was the reason we came. However the this has become a all you can eat brunch. Where you pick from a brunch menu. It is definitely not the same experience of a nice weekend brunch.Instead you have a confused server that really tried his best but it did not work after all.
the level of the food was really poor. and this became also an expensive way to eat brunch.
So definitely not recommended. This was our last visit to this restaurant.

American tap room has a great location. We've attended then Reston business several times. This location was good as well. There dirty Caesar salad with Salmon was excellent.

This would have been a great Sunday get together with old friend but server
Kept interrupting because she wasn't familiar with menu. Didn't know what went with what, forgot to take our order of side dishes etc. Frustrating.

Waiter was terrible. Bartender and other wait staff had to do his job for him because he was AWOL for most of our meal. Other than that, the experience was pretty good. Food consists of pretty typical pub/bar fare.

We celebrated my son's birthday with family. Everyone was pleased with their food: my grandson's steak was very good, my son and daughter in law were happy with their planked salmon, and I enjoyed the skillet jambalaya. Our appetizers and mojitos were also very good, and we shared two desserts among the 4 of us--one of them on the house because it was for a birthday celebration. Service was very pleasant and good. The ambiance is not fancy, but pleasant and not too loud.
