It was great. Great food and service
Safe and friendly dining outdoors and yummy breakfast!
Ok - sat in the street area. Nothing special.
Started with Iced Tea and lots of water, then the Small Power Salad and Jose's Fried Chicken sandwich. Simple but good, fresh salad, crispy chicken, hot French Fries.
Had a great time at American Kitchen. 10 of us for a birthday celebration brunch. Food was delicious and sitting outside under the trees was wonderful. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
We went for my birthday. We really like this place. Very cozy. This day was just super hot. It would has been nice to have more shade, but other than that, we will go back again!
While the space is very nice, the restaurant is just not that well run. They were out of silverware (hard to eat brunch with out a fork and knife), my eggs Benedict was served without Hollandaise sauce. I noticed others had the same omission. No mention was made to me that this would be the case so I could avoid having a bland egg, ham and toast brunch. Also, our server was doing her best, but she didn't check in on us once the food came, and the owner, Victor, was there, but he too did a good job of avoiding diners.
All in all, go somewhere else. There are a LOT of better choices in Lamorinda.
Overall the food was tasty. They’re doing reservations only which totally makes sense because of COVID. That said, it was a little awkward though because the manager / owner sort of had it out with a person who had been standing in line to get a table without knowing. Other than that, it was a pretty good experience.
Love this restaurant—always good
When busy the restaurant gets stretched as there are only two waitstaff. But we weren’t in a hurry, though this impacted the traffic we had to face on our drive home.
Had the Large Chopped Salad with added Shrimp, Iced Tea and the Cuban Sandwich. Salad was very good, sandwich was close but not quite Miami.
Started with Iced Tea, then the Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich with Arugula salad. The sandwich was GREAT, well worth the Bart trip from Oakland, will be back.
Great food and staff. Never a disappointing experience.
A great lunch spot with very yummy salads and sandwiches. The truffle fries were fantastic too! Love that almost everything, including the sandwiches, can be ordered gluten free.
Made a reservation for 11:30 after our hike around the reservoir; we had finished early so hoped to get a seat earlier (11), but they said they didn't have space. Once we did get seated we ordered our food: California Benedict, avocado toast, Buffalo chicken salad, and GPV Scramble. It took about 45 minutes to get our food and once it came out you could tell that our food had been sitting at the kitchen for a while. I had asked for the hollandaise on the side and it had already congealed by the time it got to the table and my poached eggs were very cold as was the scramble. The only thing that was okay when all our food came out first was the Buffalo chicken salad, except they forgot the dressing that was supposed to be on the side. It took a while to even find our server or the manager to let them know our food was cold. Once we called the owner over he did take our food back and replace it with fresh food quickly, but I was very disappointed that he didn't even apologize to us for bringing out cold food in the first place. You could tell they didn't care too much for customer service when we were there because they didn't even clean the table next to us well before they seated the other couple. The food was actually good when we got it fresh, but the service is what really disappointed me.
The food is outstanding, well presented and delicious!!
Always good food, great place for conversation!
Safe and welcoming. Our social bubble loved eating outdoors at our own big table. The iced latte was awesome. I loved the veggie scramble. We all cleared our plates and ate the kids leftovers. Food is delicious! Make sure to get yourself a reservation as this is a popular place that values keeping everyone safe and happy.
Great food great owner and staff
Was there twice this last week for breakfast. Food is good but on the expensive side for the amount of food. Was unsure if host is manager or owner but he was a bit of a curmudgeon on both outings. When one acts as host, a smile and a friendly hello versus barking orders to stand in line made us feel like he was doing us a favor to allow us to eat there. I might have forgiven that on the Sat of Mother’s Day weekend but when I went the following weekend, he asked us to leave before our 90 minute reservation time was up due to “a line of people waiting for their reservation” although there were several empty tables around us. In each instance there were two of us quietly conversing and eating our meal, so I cannot think why he would feel the need to do this with empty tables. Again, food is good but not great, portions are good but not great. They are really benefiting from a cute atmosphere on a lovely street but will go elsewhere based on our experiences....if not the owner, please please find someone who seems to enjoy their job and the customers whom they serve.
The food was delicious but food was slow coming out of the kitchen
Host was very accommodating w/our reservations & appreciated following Covid guidelines. However, the chicken in cobb salad was dry & the french fries were overcooked. Waiter was very nice, but short staffed & took time to get things requested.
Our server Kevin is amazing! Super attentive.
Interesting and large menu; nice setting; pleasant service
We had a wonderful lunch with friends outside in the shade; a bit pricey but worth it
Delicious food and amazing service and ambiance!
My peanut butter stuffed French toast was delicious, and the rest of my party enjoyed their meals as well. The service was good, and the heat lamps made the outdoor dining more pleasant. We were a bit disappointed that there wasn't any indoor seating though.
The food is super fresh and loved the outdoor dining patio.
Nice local restaurant for casual but quality lunch and dinner
Superb staff, from host to table. Chicken breasts were bricks. Otherwise flavors were fine.
Great lunch spot for outdoor dining. Be advised, this restaurant is pet friendly.
My friends and I ordered five breakfast dishes and shared them. Every plate was delicious!!
Their salads are delicious ~ fresh & creative! Eric, our server, always makes dining there a pleasure. Outdoor seating is perfect for health safety. Can’t think of one bad thing!
So great to eat out again.
Service is lovely and the food is always well presented and delicious.
We were seated outside int he sun.....no umbrella available. We moved to another table that had shade, but the sun followed us. Very uncomfortable for those facing the sun.
Have been to American Kitchen 3 times now since moving to Lafayette. It’s a great brunch place. Staff are kind and attentive, even when they’re at full capacity! Definitely my go to brunch place in town.
Good food, value and atmosphere. Want to return soon and often.
