American Harvest Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My son and I enjoyed American Harvest as much as our first luncheon there . I recommend very highly as every aspect was perfect. The many desserts were lined lined up on a high counter, each one beautiful and artistic resulting in a difficult decision. I am returning later in the month with woman I retired with so I can honestly say that our age group down to my son in his twenties is pleased with the restaurant. There are never any disappointments.
The tips go to the scholarship fund and I was happy to contribute toward giving students the opportunity to be part of this outstanding culinary program.
Unfortunately, it was a "rushed" experience towards the end. The student wait staff (and then their instructor) informed us that we needed to quickly choose our dessert and finish our meal because the students classtime would soon be ending; they needed to clean up and leave. We chose the 12:30 pm seating time, unaware of this time restriction. This should be mentioned on your website (i.e. If you desire/require more time for dining, please choose the earliest reservation time. The dining room closes at 2:00 pm.)
Awesome and beautifully presented food with numerous selections on the buffet. The dessert buffet was even more awe-inspiring with many exquisite looking -- and tasting -- dessert options.
The student chefs at American Harvest are obviously learning their trade well; we are looking forward to a return visit soon!
The meals and desserts were delicious. The entree menu is very limited because it is based upon the techniques the culinary students are learning. None of the four choices were vegetarian, but they always offer a house salad and a Greek salad in entree portions. The desserts available are works of art.
The food here has always been outstanding and our recent visit was no different. From the appetizers, to the main courses, to the desserts, the only problem is really having so many excellent options from which to choose. The service was very good and friendly. And the atmosphere, while not glamorous, was inviting. Well done!
Food was fantastic, great variety to choose from. Desert bar OUT OF SIGHT!!!! Service was A1, table cleared promptly and very nicely presented. Service staff efficient.
This young staff should be VERY proud of themselves, excellent preparation ,presentation and did I mention the deserts, WOW .
First time, here and looking forward to a return visit
The salads and desserts are the highlights. Avocados, mangos, grilled pineapple with cucumbers, all with light and fresh dressings, crab on Polenta, the desserts are great - on of the best hazelnut dark chocolate desserts ever, the server was very Knowledgeable and walked us through all of them, entrees included mahi mahi cooked to order, it was south american night so ribs, sausage, a lot of pork, shrimp - all delicious.
I had the Seabass for my entrée. I have read other reviews about this restaurant and after thinking about it closely I considered the Seabass rather bland. It needed more seasoning.
The appetizer was really good though. I had the butternut squash soup.
Then dessert was fabulous. I would totally recommend the bananas Foster.
Another request I would have this restaurant would be to offer loose tea as an option.
Not too many customers, had the best and most attentive server. Love the lamb chop yet so much other delicious dishes tempting, forgot to go back for second. Seafood Paella and lobster bisque with generous amount of seafood. The fig tart a seasonal dessert was light and tasty.
The restaurant is operated by future chefs and restaurantures. It's a culinary school that offers top level cusine at moderate pricing. The entrees are high end level with moderate pricing and the desserts are there for the viewing but you must try at least one. Each chef tries to out do themeselves making these wonderful desserts. A great lunch by our club. I was complimented on the choice and most asked if we could do this daily. We plan to make it on our monthly list for a causual lunch with club members.
The salads were so fresh and appealing, fennel and apple, citrus, there were so many options, the highlight being the pot roast - YES - POT ROAST, so flavorful and tender, melt in your mouth luscious - the best I have ever had. Good lamb with a lovely sauce. The dessert table stretches forever - the lemon chiffon and creme brulee were favorites but the rice pudding was a delightful surprise that surpassed any expectations you could have. The three tier chocolate dessert also yummy. Can't wait to go back!!
This restaurant experience is awesome! To participate in the excellent Schoolcraft College Culinary school as restaurant customers was very cool. The entrees were all excellent, and there were an amazing number of excellent desserts available to enjoy with your meal or to take home. Be aware that this restaurant is tied to the college schedule and may not always be open or available. It is well worth the wait! Kudos to all the students!
Great place for lunch with friends. My friend ordered seafood, and I ordered " Swiss steak".
Both dishes are good. We especially liked saute vegetables came with the dishes.
For dessert, we had chocolate cake and tart. Those are just excellent. we'll definitely come back.
These are students and they're trying so I give them credit. They need some supervision or at least a teacher/boss to walk around and check on customers. We ordered steaks medium rare and they came out well done. The server said there was nothing he could do to fix it. Their website lists beer and wine for sale, however we were told that is only for dinner. The lunch was decently priced and the dining area was clean.
