Showcase restaurant for Schoolcraft Community College Culinary Arts students. Dinner was a buffet of many dishes following a geographic theme. Excellent dishes from appetizers and salads through desserts. Great beers brewed on site by students. I recommend eating here for anyone looking to experiment with many different dishes.
You must be adventuresome with food and willing to try new things. Beautiful desserts.
An added bonus is being able to buy take away dinner all made buy aspiring chefs.
First time at American Harvest but it won't be our last. The food was creative and allowed us to try something out of our normal lunch choices. The ingredients were of the highest quality and the dishes executed beautifully. Service was good, friendly and helpful when we asked questions.
Also don't miss the desserts. They are worth every calorie and something quite extraordinary!
This was a great, unique experience, that I will definitely look into doing again. The students did an excellent job, and the value was incredible. I had duck 3 ways, and it was prepared perfectly. My only caution would be for those who are "picky eaters", as the menu is different every day. However, even if a main dish isn't to your taste, if you like desserts you'll be just fine!
This is one of my favorite places! The culinary students are outstanding and never disappointed. Value for lunch is great! Highly recommend reservations
It is always a pleasure to dine at American Harvest Restaurant. Food quality including freshness is excellent. The students provide wonderful service and are cordial and accommodating. Topping off the experience with the choice of a fresh decadent sweet is literally the "icing on the cake". Wholeheartedly recommend!
Everything was wonderful!! The food was outstanding. We each had a different dish and both were excellent. The service was very prompt and professional. Loved the whole experience!
It was our first time there, and it won't be our last!! We came for lunch. I would love to attend a dinner there.
The food and service were excellent!!
All dishes were good but food amount was little small than last year.
And, I hope the food menu is able to have much wider and various range.
ex) beef, pork, salmon,chicken, vegetables.....
My ordered dish looked like an appetizer so I was little disappointed.
That’s why I didn’t really enjoy it.
Great restaurant with amazing desserts and food! Will come again.
Disappointed in the food. After a long time our waiter came out and said they were out of the steak.. We chose the chicken and it was mediocre. A small pricey thigh. Both of us had a stomach ache when we got home. The wait for our food took forever. It seemed everyone around us was served the steak and left and we were still waiting. Dessert was good. Dessert does not bring us into a restaurant but good food does.
Our server was older in age, a retired nurse and a brand new student. She was “IN THE WEEDS.” I was observing where the professor was, expecting her to be moving throughout the restaurant, observing how students are performing, and stopping by each table, asking them how their experience was. Me, being a past student and a current student at OCC, where I am working on my associates in restaurant and hospitality management, I focused on how are programs were. I was especially focusing on how the professor educated their students. I was appalled by how she education that she provided. We arrived at 1215, with being informed that we would be out at 145. Our server had issues right from the start but I explained how I was also a student. I gave her advice. As our meal went on, our server had many issues. I searched for the professor and saw that she was reading an actual newspaper for almost our entire lunch.
At the end of our meal, there as an issue that needed assistance with the professor who got up several minutes after the student asked. I walked up and criticized the professor and left. She did not do what I expect one to provide, from visiting each table to helping the students out.
I am tempted to contact the head of the culinary department and informing them about my experience, but hopefully this might help.
American Harvest is our favorite place for a special occasion lunch. The food is outstanding - fabulous breads, outstanding desserts from a selection of a dozen or more stunning creations each visit. A reservation is necessary to be sure you get a table.
Always a great experience. The food is interesting and delicious. The staff are friendly and attentive. Desserts amazing and cannot be skipped even when full!
My favorite restaurant. The food is spectacular . I love the dinner buffet because there are so many choices but the lunch is worth it too.
The hostess always seems to have an attitude in fact she is borderline rude
This was my second time going to American Harvest. Both times have been a great experience! This time we took my mother for her 93 Birthday lunch and it was perfect! The food was excellent, as usual. Mom and I had the sole and it was delicious. The dessert selection was awesome and so abundant that it was hard to make a choice! They made the visit really special by writing Happy Birthday in chocolate around the edge of mom’s dessert plate and putting a candle in the piece of Bavarian Chocolate cake she chose. Everyone wished her a happy birthday and was super kind. Our server was good. All of the servers (and cooks) are students, so they are all learning. He wasn’t quite as polished as the server we had the first time we went there, but he may have been earlier in his learning process. We really enjoy this restaurant and will come again.
Had a nice lunch. You need to book days or week’s in advance. I had the salmon and my wife had the veal. Excellent. Save room for some decadent desserts. I had a very tasty fruit tart that was amazing. We are going to come back for the dinner buffet. I liked our waiter, Brandon, who is a student at Schoolcraft.
I have visited the place each time and was always pleased with the food, atmosphere, friendlyness, and the desserts.
Overall, I would recommend. The food was great and had a nice presentation. The wait staff and hostess was friendly. They only have 3 seatings and it takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to get seated, so if you're in a hurry, this would present a problem. Also, the restaurant closes at 2 pm, so don't plan on lingering.
Everything was wonderful Love the hostess
Very pleasant lunch. Server tried hard. Only negative was at our 12:30 reservation, the kitchen was out of soup and two of the four entree were gone. Would have liked more choices.
We were very impressed with our entree and the dessert selection was amazing! Our server was delightful,
The menu on this day was limited. The desserts looked better than they tasted. I ended up having to use my own tea bag when the server brought the hot water and forgot the tea. I suggested that they bring the tea selection first so the water does not have a chance to get cold. I will try again because I like the idea of supporting college students and have enjoyed better meals.
Really nice buffet, excellent assortment. House brewed beer is great. Outstanding desserts.
Always a wonderful experience at American Harvest We enjoy the different options that the students have made. The deserts are especially tasty!
Really nice food, a lot of selection, and excellent service
Food was great and presentation was excellent. Didn't try deserts but they looked out of this world. I had lamb chops and they were perfect. Large lunch portions. Food selection was more appropriate for dinner vs lunch. Glad I didn't have to go back to work and sleep.lol
My son and I enjoyed American Harvest as much as our first luncheon there . I recommend very highly as every aspect was perfect. The many desserts were lined lined up on a high counter, each one beautiful and artistic resulting in a difficult decision. I am returning later in the month with woman I retired with so I can honestly say that our age group down to my son in his twenties is pleased with the restaurant. There are never any disappointments.
The tips go to the scholarship fund and I was happy to contribute toward giving students the opportunity to be part of this outstanding culinary program.
Excellent food Well worth the visit. Great value and superb quality
This was our first time and we will definitely be back. The menu was interesting, the food delicious, and the service very good.
Unfortunately, it was a "rushed" experience towards the end. The student wait staff (and then their instructor) informed us that we needed to quickly choose our dessert and finish our meal because the students classtime would soon be ending; they needed to clean up and leave. We chose the 12:30 pm seating time, unaware of this time restriction. This should be mentioned on your website (i.e. If you desire/require more time for dining, please choose the earliest reservation time. The dining room closes at 2:00 pm.)
Awesome and beautifully presented food with numerous selections on the buffet. The dessert buffet was even more awe-inspiring with many exquisite looking -- and tasting -- dessert options.
The student chefs at American Harvest are obviously learning their trade well; we are looking forward to a return visit soon!
The food was great. The value was great (5 star food at 3 star prices). The service was great albiet obvious our server was in training her attitude made up for a few "forgets". We were all highly impressed with the restaurant and its staff.
Food was very good. Small menu. 4 choices. It is a culinary school. The dessert bar is fabulous!
This is a first-class restaurant run by the faculty/students. I love, love, love this experience. And, a nice aside is that the tips are put toward a scholarship fund for the students.
We had a wonderful meal. The students did an awesome job.
Lovely as always. It's always an adventure and you MUST leave room for dessert. The selections are just wonderful and fun to just look at too!
Excellent food with excellent service. The variety of foods served is outstanding and meant to please all pallets.
