American Grille - Marriott Vancouver Airport Ratings and Reviews
We used to frequent A.G., but stopped with the menu change (3-5 years ago?). We returned because of the Dine Out Vancouver (we usually do all Vancouver, but we were pleasantly surprised to see restaurants in Richmond; some nights we just want something close to home).
Both the Duck and Pork Chop main courses were lovely. The appys were quite good. The dessert was so/so. Most importantly--a very good main course.
Our waiter was lovely--polite, friendly and very professional.
WE visited The American grille for the first time during dine -out Vancouver 2016, although planned to come for a while - they are just in the neighborhood. Now I regret we didn't come before, this was quite a find. The welcoming atmosphere, the food - all was great! We have brought two infants with us, and the were accommodated very well: hostess found us a quite place with a large area for stroller, and all staff was very nice. We had the buttersquash bisque with crab, halibut, pork chop and orange duck, everything was top-notch. I highly recommend it, even for a lunch escape from Richmond Centre :)
First the ambiance like a canteen.
Second the server need to asked us which starter is mind and which is my friend , we only have 2 seats, she took our food order so!
Third, we chosen $30 dine and no steak provide, I tried Boathouse in Horseshoe bay they supply steak with $30 dine out. So yours made me disappointed.
Find it bit overpriced. Turkey avocado sandwich uses process cheese? For price of $16, you think they can afford 1 real slice of cheese. The Dine Out menu appetizer was worth the price, entree ordrered porkchop, wasnt very filling. Bed of corn and potatoes. Give it 6/10. Taste was ok but overall value wasnt there; the recipe just didnt seem the price. Dessert was just ok, creme brulee sampler x3.
The staff was great though, very attentive and friendly.
A very warm and comfortable environment for an evening dinner. The calamari and rack of lamb were very tasty and nicely presented. Our server May was very friendly and attentive. As it was my birthday, I received a complimentary mango and assorted fruit complete with a lighted candle. There were several birthday celebrations that evening and nearby diners were more than happy to extend best wishes. Highly recommended.
The menu offered a wide variety of food, which by the way was very goof. The service we received was excellent and was kid friendly. We use this restaurant for the previous reasons. Noise level has increased over the years.
I was disappointed that there was not going to be a specialNew Years menu, "just a few additions to the regular menu" quote the manager.
Went here for lunch and found the entire experience underwhelming. Food was OK, but nothing great. Service was friendly but slow, somewhat inattentive and not very professional. There's plenty of good places to eat in Richmond, so I don't see any good reason to come back.
I was so incredibly disappointed, we'd heard great things for years; our server was condescending when approaching our table he asked if we would be "ordering anything other than water" this evening. Well we ordered a beer and martini...which took 15 minutes! We ordered the ribeye, and the chicken breast...we were informed it would take 25 minutes as those cuts took longer. We imagined freshly cooked beautiful cuts of meat - the chicken breast, so dry and over cooked I couldn't possibly eat it (not to mention cannellini beans were undercooked) it arrived sliced in half...i'm assuming to check for done-ness. I know a frozen boneless skinless chicken breast when I see one. Rib-eye, 1/4" thick flopped on the plate...how on earth did that take 25 minutes??? Finally we ordered a 2nd round of drinks when I returned my meal - of course they arrived after we had finished, but before my complimentary clam chowder arrived...which again was pre-made campbells-esque soup with some salmon added. I really wanted to like this place as it's walking distance for us, but clearly it's day has come. The decor was dated, chairs are all chipped, tables look like they came out of a Denny's...the carpet like a casino, and intense spot lighting really highlighted my dry as anything chicken.
One of my standby-favourite dining spots in the City of Richmond is the American Grille. We sampled their new fall menu on the first day it was launched. Our group of four shared a plate of calamari and a plate of jumbo sautéed prawns. The flavours were fine for both dishes but the portion size did not justify the price. Skip the appetizers and move onto the salads! The tuna nicoise salad was perfectly crusted and served over a bed of delicious greens. A must try. The rack of lamb, seafood trio and prime rib steak were the stars of the evening. We have tried the rack of lamb and steak as recently as six months ago and the quality, portion and seasoning were consistently good. We selected to share the apple pie (portioned as a strudel with cream condiment) plus the crème brulee (an odd tasting coffee flavour) served on a bed of cream and a shortbread cookie. The apple strudel was excellent but the crème brulee was a miss. The best part of dinner were the entrees and the absolute worst aspect of dinner was the service. Our waiter did not appear until requested and consistently throughout the evening had to be summoned after long absences. For instance, during payment he left the machine at our table and did not bother to return so I played with the machine to extract my customer copy. Why the pathetic service? It wasn't a very busy night as not all the tables were full. The Open Table reservation was no help at all as the greeter sat us at the entrance to the restaurant when other window tables were readily available.
Went there with entertainment book mobile app, but they dont honor it (they said they will only take physical coupon while mobile coupon is available on entertainment book app). Although it is not really a big deal but I think it is dishonest/wrong advertisement they are having.
However, I have to agree their food is good and ambiance is not bad too.
There are good varieties of menu items. The food is very tasty, especially the rack of lamb. We visited the restaurant a few times, the lamb was consistently done to our request. During our last visit, there was some smoke from the kitchen area. They proactively initiated discount off the bill. The service staffs are very friendly. Excellent for casual dinning. Highly recommended.
We went here as we were staying the night at the Marriott in Richmond. Walking in we did not expect much as it is a 'typical' hotel type restaurant. We were seated promptly and asked if there was an occasion - which there was - a birthday. We were just the two of us and the server was gracious, very friendly and there when we needed her. We both had a steak and they were done perfectly - the entire meal was delicious. We shared a dessert and was pleasantly surprised at the end of our meal that the dessert was 'taken care of' because of my birthday. Very nice surprise.
Havnt been here for a long long time actually more than 15 years! But I have had a great meal here, the Beets salad, Danish Vack Ribs, and the duck were all delicious and nicely presented. Most important the price was just more or less the same as the chain casual fine dining restaurants out there!
Loved the food; have a couple of favourite dishes there, and often come for lunch. Any time I've come, those favourites of mine taste exactly the same. Feel that I'm treated very well, as I'm a regular, which is nice, because it means you are a valued customer.
American Grille used to be a great place for work lunches and family dinners; however, the quality and consistency have declined. Think you can't go wrong with a burger? Well, you can at American Grille. Over cooked and dry. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant.
We were excited to go back to American Grille for dinner (afte r a long time like years). However, we were just more disappointed than the last two times. I understand that they were busy, but I felt leftout in many ways -- no bread at the beginning, long wait for food (more than 20 minutes), lack of service... The waiters and waitresses were trying to serve all the big tables / groups / out-of-town guests before serving us. Food was ok... not memorable or exciting. I would not want to visit again because I can get a lot more value for my money spent elsewhere in Richmond.
An Entertainment coupon book drew me to try out this restaurant for dinner. The duck breast with carmelized yams, brussel sprouts and asparagus with a cherry compote sounded delicious. When the plate finally arrived (40 minutes later) there were 3 small medallions of duck breast (these were cooked nicely) but the yams were chopped finely and hard to pick up on a fork, the asparagus consisted of the tips of 3 small stalks and the brussel sprouts were not cooked through. the compote was sparse - I did find 2 small cherries on the plate. The portions were quite small. My dining companion had the chicken breast with a side of apricot/goatcheese/quinoa and asparagus (she got 3 spears!). Her meal was a bit more substantial . So overall while this restaurant may be adequate to get a burger of some sort I would not recommend it for a special dining experience.
Celebrating a special birthday on a busy weekend evening, we received very good service and attention throughout the evening. Our server made an excellent wine recommendation, which we appreciated. The restaurant was full and the kitchen was busy. One diner ordered the pan-fried Halibut and was disappointed when the first bite seemed dry (overcooked). The waitress was beckoned and told that it seemed a little dry--we asked if some additional sauce could be added to compensate. This would have been an "easy quick fix"; however, she insisted that a new piece of Halibut could be prepared in less than 15 min. and this was done. Wow, the fish was absolutely perfectly cooked, moist and delicious. Highly recommend this item. As well, their signature Rack of Lamb is incomparable and consistently well prepared. My fellow diner cannot try anything else on the menu because the lamb is so tempting!! The American Grill is a place where you can enjoy a true fine dining experience and thus is great value for the money!
