Great Steaks! Amazing food but most importantly better service. Easily the best steakhouse in NYC.
This is our second time at this restaurant by making reservation via Opentable. Each time, we are pointed to seat the worst table at the entrance while the restaurant was almost empty. It is quite humiliating to seat in such table where our guests experienced cold weather coming from the outer gate. After we complaint about, we changed the table. But during almost half time of our service, we sat there. I do not want to seat at the same table if I go there again. I felt ashamed to my guests about the table. Rest of the experience was ok.
Fantastic steak in a beautiful setting and great bar area too!
Great time as always! Diego created an amazing NYE/birthday experience for us. Can’t wait for next time!
My wife and I dined here on New Year's Eve. The atmosphere was classy with a romantic feel. I ordered a prickly pear martini, while my wife tried a cosmo. My drink was a little sour tasting. For dinner we ordered the hotel ceasar, the porterhouse for two, twice baked potato, and wild mushrooms. The hotel ceasar was delicious. The porterhouse was properly cooked (medium rare). It was very good, but not as flavorful as some of the other upscale steakhouses I've dined at. The twice baked potato and wild mushrooms were okay. The service was fairly slow, but since it was New Year's Eve we didn't mind. This is a nice place to go if you're looking for a modern steakhouse with romantic vibes.
the meat were all over cooked and some of them were almost not cooked
arrogant staff make this restaurant an unbearable place, I got to hear from the boss that the delay of 1h30m for food arrived, it was because he asked for the meat last, just an idiot to treat customers that way
Dinner was outstanding. Waiter recommended a great bottle of wine in our price range. Food was delicious. Room is gorgeous. Will definitely be going back.
Great food and presentation
Absolutely delicious meal with unusual, tasty preparations
Marc Forgione has created a masterpiece in the world of steakhouses. The food and service is always top notch and the meat selections are always incredibly savory and tender. The dry aged Tomahawk chop tends to be a frequent favorite. The beef is pasture raised and finished on a corn feed providing for a rich and full flavor. The steak preparation is also spectacular and highlights and enhances the meat. Also don’t forget about the classic cedar smoked old fashioned which can be prepared table side for the full experience. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about the food as well as the extensive and well curated wine list.
Worst dining experience ever! Booked for party of 8 and the hostile hostess and manager make us waiting for an hour without any communication. There are so many options out there and this one I won’t ever come back again.
Appetizers and sides were good. Pastrami ribeye was good for a few bites then was too much. Porterhouse for two had a very small filet side and strip side was chewy (makes me think we were served a t-bone not a porterhouse (ie. cheaper cut)).
I had a Friday night happy hour here for my birthday. There were drinks on happy hour, a $20 burger and drink deal, and a $16 oyster and prosecco deal that several of us took advantage of. We had reserved a long table since there were 10+ of us, and it was nice that the bar area wasn't SO crowded that people felt totally crammed in. It was a little tough to get a hold of servers at times... It's not the same quality of service you receive in the normal dining room (to be expected, I guess). It wasn't too noisy and that $20 burger really was delish. Thanks for hosting us, American Cut!
Arrogant man at the door; did not Horton reservation;
Will not go back!
Were all excited to go, very pleased with the place itself & the service was very good as well. Food was ok, but a few people didn’t get the correct cut of meat they requested. Not sure I’d go back ☹️. Wine we had brought wasn’t served correctly either. Just overall disappointed.
we had the most amazing time - it was our Holiday dinner and the food was superb I've been to American Cut many times and can't wait to go back again.
Been to many NY steakhouses, but this was a first trip to American Cut. Immediately now one of my top two in the city. All round terrific experience. Food was really great!
Very impressed overall!
Our waiter was phenomenal.
Look forward to going back.
We had a fantastic experience at American Cut. Phenomenal steaks and great appetizers in a great atmosphere!
We went here for Thanksgiving Dinner and the food was incredible.
The squash ravioli was delicious and the turkey was the best I have ever had. The pre-fixed holiday menu was $85 per person, which for NYC was actually a bit lower priced in comparison to other high end restaurants. The cocktails were pricey at $20 per martini, but the expresso martini was superb.
The only down side that I can think of is that it took a while for each course to come out, but the food was so good when it came that we didn’t mind the wait.
(This review is for Thanksgiving.) Like many New Yorkers, we opted for an $85 prix fixe at American Cut instead of attempting the difficult task of cooking a whole turkey in a tiny kitchen. It was a good decision! The service was outstanding, the food was delicious as usual, and we enjoyed a full 2-hour meal without feeling like they were trying to turn our table. There were many families, some of whom did not dress for the occasion, but the noise level was fairly low. Overall a great experience on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving dinner for my wife and me was outstanding . Turkey was ample and cooked to perfection as was everything else. Had enough left over to take home. Service and friendliness of the staff was superb .
Gran ambiente y excelente comida
Steak was not cooked right.
Everything was good just overpriced
Food was what I expected for the price (good and expensive), service was on point. Natalie def made the night that much more enjoyable.
A wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the door — and the food and service just got better and better. Do not miss this Midtown gem!
Great meal and great service...our waiter (Brad?) was excellent.
Nice decor. Good bartenders. Nice wait staff. Slow meal prep and mis-cooked order. Relative to the top tier steakhouses in NYC American Cut is a step behind.
Living in Tribeca, I have been to all of Marc Forgione restaurants many times. This is my least favorite. Perhaps a Friday night in midtown is not the time to come here, but the place was dead. We were a big group and the staff was friendly but not attentive. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable and is quiet and romantic, not a people watching or singles scene. The Porterhouse and Filet were both delicious but that would be pathetic if a steak restaurant run by a famous chef, did not make steak well. However, the rest of the menu is uninspired, reminding me of that original steakhouse in Brooklyn that only has one fish option (i don't go there because of that). American Cut had two fish options, salmon and tuna, but the tuna was inedible, with veins running through it. Lastly, I should mention that I had 2.5 Prickly Pear Martinis, which given that I rarely drink, should have made me tipsy. Actually, the whole table was drinking them at $18 pop, and no one was tipsy...the menu claims there is St. Germain vodka, Prosecco sparking wine, Beluga Noble elderflower liquer, pear puree and lemon, but it tasted and made me feel like it was just watered down pear puree. It really pains me to write this bad review, but this restaurant needs work asap.
Beautiful restaurant, professional service, good food, great Crackerjack dessert (best dessert ever).
My birthday Natalie was awesome 😊
Had a great meal at American cut. The Caesar salad and lamb chips were outstanding. My husband had the filet which was good but he agreed that my lamb chops were better. We had the dan’s potatoes which were great too. Unfortunately, we did not have time for desert. Service was outstanding and I loved that they did not rush us. We did have an early reservation as we had theater tickets, but it was interesting to note this is a family friend steakhouse. We felt like we could have brought our daughter along, but it was date night for us.
Joe was our server. Attention to every detail
Always a great meal at American Cut!!!
Great food and service!
Dope, went straight to steak. Came out quick and very well cooked. Quiet easy ambiance.
One of the worst filets ever. Poorly cooked, tough, and way over seasoned. Was embarrassed for my out of town guests
Strip steak and veal chop were fantastic, tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. Our waiter was great and overall great place to go
