Used to love this spot but it has gone extremely down hill. The food was horrendous this time. A crab cocktail swimming in mayo? What a way to ruin fine crab. And the entrees were def not worth it. Even the bread was different. They updated the decor and ruined their food. Skip.
The place is cool and the food is excelent. Service is attentive and they're allways there for anything you need. Prices are normal for upper east side but it is too noisy: no chance to chat, you need to almost shout.
One important detail: the wine list is very good, but pricy.
Total gem! This was my first time at American Cut midtown. I have been many times to American Cut Tribeca. I absolutely loved the decor....dim/trendy/cozy! The bar area was roomy and perfect for a drinks and a bite. We sat this time in the formal dining room, the food and service were excellent! Will be frequenting this restaurant often.
Place is freaking suspect. Why is it so much more expensive than other steakhouses? Especially when the quality is lower.
This is where I bring all of my out of town guests and business associates. The team a Team american cut puts on an amazing well coordinated meal. It’s fun to watch, and better to eat.
Wait staff was amazing!
I went here for my girlfriends birthday and we had an absolutely amazing time. The service was excellent and the food was just as good. The ambiance was lovely with a dim lit room, amazing seats, and soft music. Highly recommend this place for a nice date night or special occasion.
Great waiter. Perfect ambience. Not too noisy
Family get together for birthday and Easter. Six adults and three kids 3-8 years. Shared everything. Two absolutely fabulous aged porterhouse and shared appetizers. Best was lettuce wedge which easly served two. Service was patient and responsive with some uncertaintenty with about ordering for the kids. Not Cheap but we had a great time!
Great food and exceptional service.
First, this restaurant is beautiful. The service was excellent - the waiter spent Unrushed time discussing different cuts, etc. The veal chop was fantastic, tender and tasty. The rib eye that my husband had was also yummy. French fries were crispy and well seasoned. The bacon in the Brussel sprouts was crisp and lean. If there was any negative, the music was loud.
We will return
Always a pleasure to dine here, great atmosphere for a casual business or personal dining experience.
Love the dry aged ribeye and bacon!
I’m afraid the food lacked flavor.
Another great meal at American Cut, with great service from all of the staff. Only reason food doesn't get 5 stars this time around is because our Tomahawk came out closer to rare than the medium rare plus we ordered - not too much of a concern since it just need to be brought up a bit. Staff was even nice enough to send us home with an extra tomahawk bone for each of my friend's two dogs.
Dined there on a recent Saturday night. It was full, but not crowded. We were a larger party, 2 families celebrating our sons’ birthdays. Overall, a dinner that should have been no more than 2 hours, inexplicably turned into a 3.5 hour affair. The service team (and the kitchen) just forgot about us. We were seated for 30 minutes before we were asked for a drink order, and by then, we thought it best to just go ahead and order dinner. After an hour, the waiter came over to apologize, saying that “they were backed up with other orders, but our food would be out soon”. Another hour later, our meals arrived with lots of apologies and the offer of free desserts. The only redeeming quality of the evening was the food, which was very good, but not worth the wait. Most steakhouses in New York pride themselves not only in their food, but also on their service, which allows them to charge the prices they charge. American Cut was not worth the cost or the time.
Solid all around. Brussel Sprouts were excellent.
American Cut was over hyped . The steak wasn’t as good as the waiter said it would be. It needed or flavor .
Came for a family dinner and we had the best server (Joe) who helped us make our drink and dinner selection as well as being engaging and entertaining.
Had a great experience at American Cut! This wasn’t my first time here either. Food is alway on point, Steak was cooked to perfection.
We went for dinner on a Friday evening.
The service was very good. The waiter was attentive, kind, and considerate.
The food was a disappointment; the porterhouse for two was dry, the T-Bone steaks were better but nothing great.
Our waiter and the rest of the service was horrendous!
Reviews always reflect on a person’s perception & and expectation, so read mine carefully. You don’t have to agree.
The food is good and steaks are prepared very well. Service was nice and friendly, but it took just a notch to long for items to be served. The noise level was a bit too much for my taste. In order to have a conversation, we had to raise our voices quite a bit.
Overall, I prefer Ruth’s Chris. Better ambiance, and I love the salt & butter crust on the steaks. Furthermore, it’s a bit less noisy.
ACS is a very decent steak house with friendly service, good food, and an acceptable price tag. I can absolutely recommend it even though I will most likely not go there as often, because if the noise level. If you want to hang out with your buddies and enjoy a good steak, this restaurant will not disappoint you.
We were a table of 7 and had a work meeting. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We will definately be back
The service here is outstanding. The steaks are amazing. My current favorite NYC restaurant.
Very kind to us on our anniversary!!
Food was great. Service was not as great. Atmosphere seemed touristy.
We had a great experience. The food was amazing and so was the ambiance. It was our anniversary and we received a glass of champagne as courtesy. We will definitely go back for another delicious dinner.
I had the best lamb chops ever.
Great service, pretty noisy
Great midtown Steakhouse, with impeccable service. The space itself is very well appointed, there's a big Bar area and separate dining room with well-spaced tables so you never feel like you are on top of your neighbors. They have a great curated playlist of classic rock that rings through the dining room at the perfect level. Just loud enough to hear, without being obtrusive.
As far as the food goes, the tuna crudo appetizer is my new favorite thing on the planet right now. I've had it every time I have been there (3 and counting) and is a must-have IMHO. The steaks are great quality which is to be expected from a place like this. The wine list is extensive but notably devoid of value options. The only downside is that it's very pricey, because well... New York.
Server was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The signature smoked old fashioned was fantastic. Biscuits were excellent. Tomahawk steak for two was a bit fatty but cooked perfectly and tasted great. Sides were different from the usual steakhouse fare. Dessert was good but not great. Noise level was very high when room was full. Very good meal, will return.
Was great, we made it late so had to rush to order but everything was well prepared and awesome look forward to coming again!!!
Steak came out slightly over cooked and server dropped a piece (after slicing it) on the floor and didn’t apologize for this/offer any compensation
disappointing experience. had heard great things about this restaurant, so made Valentine's Day reservations. upon entering, we were greeted by very loud classic rock music in the bar area, which barely diminished as we entered the dining room. After being seated, waited for several minutes before being greeted by a waiter who never did say his name. Wedge salad was fine, but the steak entrees we both got were so heavily seasoned it was equivalent to eating a salt block. Also the waiter was apparently so busy he never stopped by to ask whether the steaks were cooked to our liking.
Not at all what I was looking for. Rather than a refined eating experience, it felt much more like a bus station - feed them and get them out with as little human contact as possible. I will not be going back.
Had a lovely night out with my girl
Amazing decor , nice ambiance , the server was outstanding !!! His name was john I think , I had way too many of the Smokin’ Penicillin to remember haha , great drinks and vibe , one of the best steaks I’ve ever had also
Rushed in an out in 1 hour
Beautiful setting and fantastic food! Promptly seated, very competent and attentive staff. Great Restaurant Week Menu. Lively fun crowd.
The noise volume was out of control
Business birthday dinner.
Will never go back
Entrance not inviting. Dark and needs to be redone
Excellent food and great portions for restaurant week menu. Our server was really friendly and seemed like he was genuinely happy to serve us! Would definitely recommend.
One note- tables are very large so not great if you're looking for intimacy.
