Amen Street Fish + Raw Bar Ratings and Reviews
It was as expected, nothing outstanding though. First time there and was expecting a bit more. Made reservations weeks ago and were there early so we sat at the bar for drinks and appetizer. When we went to be seated they said there were only large tables because of reservations? Yep. That's why I made one. So two of us sat awkwardly at a six top.
WOW! I don't usually write reviews. Amen's service and food compelled me to do so.
We had 8 of us and had 6 different entrees, EVERY ONE of them was outstanding!
The shrimp and grits, tuna tacos, each fish selection / prep and the fresh oysters were all 10"s!!
Danielle was the most attentive without being overbearing waitress we have had in years.
She also knew the prep and tastes of every dish on the menu and made your mouth water describing each one.
IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE DO NOT MISS AMEN!!
Went here for Charleston restaurant week, with family that was visiting. Was very disappointed with the food, It was very bland and portion size very small. My husband order seafood stew from the menu which is an entree and was very disappointed with the size. The best part was the drinks and dessert and our waiter. Left disappointed.
We've just moved to Charleston and this was our first experience with restaurant week. My daughter and I thought the Amen menu looked very interesting and we were told that the oysters there are excellent. So true! We shared delicious raw oysters to start, and the rest of the meal was fabulous! The server was very attentive and personable. And the bar is very extensive! We will definitely return!
Went for restaurant week and the food was very subpar. I dont think they displayed the dishes that they do best on the restaurant week menu and instead threw dishes on there that they could make quickly. They lacked flavor and creativity, which is something most other reataurants in the area do for reataurant week. The service that we had was great, but I have no desire to return back for the food.
The food at Amen Street is absolutely delightful! The shrimp and grits is the best around, the fish tacos are fabulous, the burger is juicy and flavorful (made from grass-fed angus), and each of the starters and sides I've been lucky enough to taste have surpassed my expectations. This place is a true gem and the food is fresh and impressive!
We are visiting Charleston and ha dined at Amen Street when we were here two years ago. I was on our list to be revisited. The food is exceptional and the service was great. Kerri, our server, could not have been more helpful or pleasant. We highly recommend it.
We really enjoyed our meal at Amen Street. The raw oysters were wonderful as our starter. I had pan seared grouper that was excellent. My friend thought the crab cakes were good, but not as full of crab as the cakes up north. But our wait person told us that, so no surprises. The service was exceptional. It is noisy. Not the ideal venue if you're looking for a quiet, romantic setting. Would go back.
