Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar opened in 2009, reviving the former Amen name of Cumberland Street and restoring this historic corner. The new renovation stays true to the beauty of the original 1800's architecture while creating a comfortable atmosphere for contemporary life.



Located at 205 East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district this Charleston seafood restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining all within walking distance of the local Market and the Charleston Harbor.



The menu includes a variety of seafood dishes such as oysters, clams and shrimp in addition to an ever growing raw bar menu. Amen Street supports Charleston's local fishing industry with market fresh fish.

    First trip to charleston, after a bad experience at darling oyster we had our revenge the next day here for late lunch. We had she crab soup. Delicious but it was missing something (4/5). Fried oysters were absolutely the winner. Soft and tasty (6/5). Yeah six of out five. Fried green tomatoes were amazing too (5/5). Last but not least, shrimp corn dog, never had corn dog ever before. Really good. Another 5/5. Thanks felicia for a great service!!

    Another great meal at Amen St. Oysters were amazing as always but the star of the evening was our server, Michael. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars; he made a fun evening with some dear friends a night to remember forever. Perfect and thank you.

    Great location and ambiance, excellent service. Food was good, not fantastic - except the oysters, which were great. This is the place if you like oysters. Drinks were pricey, but it's Charleston.

    Very good place to stop and eat. We visited Amen street because of restaurant week and it allowed us to try them out. The old Fashions were very good, they used the right cherries and orange peel. The Salmon was incredible as were the mashed potatoes and collards. Nice place over all. Our server was outstanding.

    Went for restaurant week and was highly disappointed. We ordered hushpuppies and then 2 min later our salads came out. My friend also order a soup that was sent out with the salads. 10 mins later our food came out. We weren't even finshed with our appetizer. My steak was ordered medium and came out medium however it was ice cold. Asked the server to warm it up and ot came back well done. My water glass was empty more than once. The best part of the meal was the lemon cake. However it was extremely small. 3 bites and you were done. For $45 I was disappointed. I know they cut back but if I ordered off the restaurant week menu the salad would have been $13 and a bigger portions. The steak was $38 but came with mash potatoes and something else. Mine came with fries and probably 7 slices of meat. There was no way that slice of cake was $15. I wouldn't have even paid $8 for it bc it was so tiny.

    We booked a table on open table and when we arrived, we were told they didn’t have a record of it. The hostess showed me the iPad and it was right there. It then proceeded to take her 10 minutes to seat us and when we made our way to the table, there were five other empty tables. Our server wasn’t great- it took her a long time to even come over with waters and she seemed like we were holding her up from leaving. The food was amazing, though. We all ordered the scallops and risotto and they were impeccably done. Would go back for the food but earlier in the evening as we sat at 8pm and the place was empty by 9.

    Great location and menu! Oyster selections were fantastic and presented well. The service was attentive and non intrusive, which was very pleasant. Main courses were well composed and very flavorful. Cocktail offerings varied but I found their basil offering so refreshing for the hot summer evening. Only minor drawback was having to speak very loudly and lean in to listen during conversation. Very loud inside on a Saturday night, but that was to be expected. My wife and I will definitely be returning in the future!

    The dishes were not executed well . My wife’s tuna was only seared on 1 side (at least they didnt over cook it). My scallops came with a risotto with too much cheese in it. The scallops were cooked well but the risotto was not good.

    There are many amazing restaurants in Charleston to choose from, but if you haven’t been to Amen Street, GO! Our experience was wonderful. The hostess was kind and seated us promptly though we arrived 25 minutes early. Our waiter made great recommendations and helped find exactly what we were looking for, but we did end up waiting for refills and for him to check in for about 15 minutes after we received our food. We knew he was busy, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. The Peach Bellini was great and (surprisingly) paired well with the hushpuppies and honey dipping sauce (AMAZING!!!). My husband ordered the seafood platter and I had the bourbon glazed salmon but subbed the collard greens for green beans. For a cocktail, the appetizer, and both meals, it was about $85 after tax. Considering the atmosphere, quality of service and food, and quantity, we were pleased! Their website says they have a Smart Casual dress code, but I saw men and women in t-shirts, shorts, etc., so it’s a relaxed dress code. All in all, 5 stars!! Can’t wait to be back in Charleston to visit again.

    We dine Downtown Charleston frequently and seek a particular vibe. Amen Street offers the gracious and lively experience we like - just the right balance. A gracious host. Responsive server. And the dinner: A Sampler of oysters, shrimp, clams and more fresh and savory. Mains - a Grouper that was cooked to perfection and nestled in a vegetable blend stunningly seasoned. PEI Mussels in a white wine and fresh tomato broth suggesting a delightful refreshing sweetness that even now we are planning to return for.

    Our dining experience at Amen wasn’t as good as in the past. My she-crab soup was served tepid, and my martini had a lot of vermouth. I asked for a second martini with just a touch of vermouth, but it arrived the same way. The rest of the meal was delicious and our server did a good job.

    Hi Really poor service We tried to get the waiters attention for 15 minutes while our oysters sat at the end of the bar with three servers leaning over/taking over them. I finally got up and said politely that we would no longer like these. Just after the youthful manager brought them over and tried to explain why we should take them as they were on ice. Sorry no thank you, three people were leaning over then chatting for 15 minutes, unsanitary. They then served my fish sandwich yet forgot my wives soup. Up again to ask for help Hopefully just a one off and the team will get some coaching

    Been here dozens of times over the years. Will be dozens more! Our Server, Reagan, was wonderful and professional. The appetizers were good as always. And the Shrimp and Grits were great.

    Drinks were super watered down. Oysters were good but the ceviche was uneventful. It lacked flavor. Overall a very disappointing experience. We had dinner reservations there but after the mediocre drinks & appetizers we decided to go some place else for dinner.

    A little disappointed in my meal - the cioppino pasta had far more pasta than seafood - and for the price, I expected a more gracious portion. Service was very good - no hovering, which was nice and we were allowed to linger. Probably won’t go back tho.

    Amen Street was recommended to us by a wonderful man at the local cigar shop. Thank you Brother Don! Server was on point. Cocktail choices were incredible. We loved the look and feel of the building itself. The food was amazing! Oysters (local), she-crab soup and shrimp and grits. Just wow! A must try in Charleston!
