Amen Street Fish + Raw Bar
Located at 205 East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district this Charleston seafood restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining all within walking distance of the local Market and the Charleston Harbor.
The menu includes a variety of seafood dishes such as oysters, clams and shrimp in addition to an ever growing raw bar menu. Amen Street supports Charleston's local fishing industry with market fresh fish.
We are open for lunch and dinner. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are accepted as well.
We had lunch on a Monday there. Fried shrimp with hush puppies and creamed corn was delicious but small portions for what you paid. Beet salad with pan seared tilefish was fresh but salad was drowning in vinaigrette dressing. My husband asked for a vodka and soda and he swears there was no vodka in the glass. I had a sangria which was refreshing but half the glass was ice. All in all, good food but overpriced and small portions. There are so many great restaurants in Charleston. Save your money and go someplace else. They need to improve their value.
Great evening with friends. Whether baked, broiled or fried, all entrees were very good.
Our server was cheerful, professional and very helpful with recommendations. Definitely would recommend for anyone seeking good quality seafood.
Amazing food and service! Would highly recommend.
Outstanding and we had to make reservation time later and they were very accommodating!!! Five stars to hostess and waitress and bar tender!!!
Baked oysters were great. Crab cakes were fantastic. The mixed vegetable salad was delicious.
Everything was fantastic - the food, the service, the ambience and the Peach Bellinis 😀
We went for lunch. Everything was excellent. Started with baked oysters which were delicious. My wife had the swordfish and I went with a white fish, cajun style which I highly recommend. Both were terrific. Signature cocktails were terrific as well. Overall, a great experience.
We had reservations. Got there a little early and we were seated right away.
Waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable.
Food was great.
The food is is excellent. The service is great. My shrimp and grits were off the charts delicious. My husband's fish was perfectly cooked. And there are no words for the Oysters Rockefeller. All in all it was a wonderful evening with great, great food.
Wonderful selection of oysters, beers, and seafood. Knowledgeable staff is the icing on the cake.
Service was really bad. We sat at our table for about 15 minutes and I finally had to ask one of the servers if she was assigned our table and she said no she wasn't but would look into it. Then another serves came to our table who had been attending to customers close to where we were seated and said she would be our server. Well why did you ignore us for 15 minutes? The food was average at best. Needless to say, we would not return.
Very good meal!
This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE restaurant in Charleston! Oysters never disappoint and the service is always top notch!
My sister and her husband were escaping the frozen tundra of the midwest. Read the great reviews and we also had a great experience all around. Can’t wait to go back!
One of our favorites. Always consistent. Great raw bar, good brews on tap, definitely go with the shrimp corn dogs. Attentive service.
We had dinner at Amen. We were a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed their meal. We will definitely go back!
Food was delicious and service was very good. Would go back in a heartbeat
Raw bar great. Husband ordered the fried dinner and way too breaded. Waitress asked how all was and husband said t was not good at all. Her response “sorry”.
The food was really good. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly.
We came in from out of town and loved the write up to the restaurant. We came a bit early for our reservations and were seated I a less than disireable table. It was not part of the main dining room and seemed and appeared an after thought. It absolutely took away from the experience. The food was excellent as was the service and wait staff.
Our table was ready for us when we arrived. I highly recommend the calamari and she crab appetizers. My friend and I split the calamari and a bottle of wine. We also each had a cup of soup and a salad for $45 a piece, which is very reasonable. My beet salad was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. Her Caesar salad was fine, but unless you are planning on adding meat or fish, I would not get that when the beet salad is so much more amazing for only a tiny bit more money. The service was good, but it was busy, so we didn't get to order our entrees until we were finished with our apps. However, since we only added salad, it did not affect much since they were not time consuming to prepare. Overall, I would give Amen 5 stars. It was busy, but it was not overly loud, and I enjoy a crowd. The food was good, and the building's old exposed brick on the inside was really cool.
Excellent food and service, we will be back!
I had the shrimp and mushroom risotto. It was creamy and delicious. My husband had the swordfish. It was cooked to perfection. Service was great even though restaurant was crowded.
It is a great spot for a quick bite of good seafood. They have a wide selection of oysters on the half shell.
I love their Mahi-mahi cooked Low-country! The hushpuppies with WildFlour honey or shrimp corn dogs are great appetizers! Fresh and delicious!
Excellent food and service! The ambience is very nice and contemporary, but it can be noisy, so I would not suggest for an intimate/romantic dinner.
This was our third visit here. This time was a little disappointing. The food was only ok and not as described. The oysters and apps were fine, but the cioppino was not very good. Also, the selection of fish was very limited for a place thats called a seafood house.
WE loved it! Took our grandson after a day of Navy celebrations. Great bar and also raw bar. We chose a booth. the ambiance, food and service were outstanding. The Calamari appetizer was the BEST!
We love visiting Charleston. The sheer number of excellent restaurants is amazing and we live in Chicago where it’s pretty great. But Low Country food is another thing. So we started with the Fried green tomatoes with a dollop of pimiento cheese topped with pickled okra. WoW! I had the Tasting raw bar & my spouse had the fish sandwich. Fabulous. Wish we could go back soon
Best shrimp and grits ever! Michael is awesome! Try the shrimp corn dogs too.
The shrimp and grits were great, as was the service.
We had the best time here! Great food and great service. The seafood is simply prepared, as good seafood should be. Keep it out of the fryer, please! Fresh local raw oysters at a reasonable price. Our entrees of blackened grouper and bouillabaisse were large and perfectly done. Server Michael was helpful and very entertaining. On a very busy night we had a table against the back wall, which was quieter, but close enough to fellow diners to engage in a little friendly banter.
Great good and wonderful service
Food was delicious! Plenty of options to please everyone!
This is a great spot to go to for raw oysters. The local oysters are always delish! Menu selections are good, though the breading on the fried seafood is almost like eating Gorton's, but fresh Gorton's! They could do better in having a lighter crust. There are plenty of other choices besides the fried seafood.
Food was delicious, but portions were very small. You will need to order a couple sides to complete your meal.
Excellent all around. Super service
And recognized our anniversary Witt dessert and coffee
The restaurant is very cozy, yet open, so it's casual fine dining. My vodka/basil/ginger beer cocktail hit the spot, and every dish was delicious. The shrimp mushroom risotto was extremely tasty, but not overly rich. But the creamed corn was the winner of the night. Who would guess! Not your canned and goopy cream corn, but fresh off the cob sweet corn in real cream. And did I mention the hush puppies?
House oysters were really small other than that the food was good.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere.
