With its euro-chic décor, sensual lighting and "the best bar music in the city," Amélie bar has changed the way good wine is enjoyed and consumed. Patrons appreciate the generous pour, the low turnover of the staff, the international flair, and the great choice of good wines at fair prices.

Amelie Ratings and Reviews
Bar area was packed and restaurant seemed full with a line out the door when we arrived. However the host came through the line asking if anyone had reservations and once we were confirmed we were seated right on time. Service was quick but didn't feel rushed. And although seats are close together you could have a conversation without shouting
I am sooooo in love with this place!! I rarely write reviews on any of my dining experiences, but but everything we ordered at Amelie was amazing and the service was exceptional. The guys that work here are all so friendly and go above and beyond to make your dining experience the very best.
We had both types of oysters offered as part of the daily special, escargot, mussels, cheese/charcuterie plate and the creme brulee for dinner and every dish was spectacular. They continuously refill a bag of delicious baguette slices and the cocktail that I ordered called the Lady Grey was the very favorite (boyfriend also loved his classic manhattans).
During our dinner, two different servers were finishing up their shifts and both stopped by our table to thank us and say farewell before heading out the door. You could tell this was a genuine act of friendliness on both their parts and not part of any routine that they were trained to do.
This place is such a gem, I can't wait to get back here soon for a night out with my girls!
Came here because we didn't get a reservation at Carbone. Spent hours on yelp trying to find a good restaurant, and after seeing such great reviews we decided to come here. Clearly people don't have taste buds.
Here is a breakdown of what we ordered.
Foie gras - this was patê for christs sake, NOT FOIE GRAS
Escargot - this was good
Duck confit - the mushrooms were good, not the duck
Steak et frites - no comment
Trout - oily as hell
Overall : why does this place have 4.5 stars??????????
I was impressed with this place. The food was good, the happy hour is a great value. They do not compromise on flavor and presentation with the happy hour food and I was happy about that.
The waitstaff were all great. It did get a little slow but it was pretty crowded at the time so I can't blame them.
Took us a long time to be seated. Other walk-ins without reservations were seated at tables while we waited to be seated. We made reservations over a month ago. I love this place, the food, the wine, the ambiance, however , valued & loyal customers should feel valued. Hope to return soon...
Decided to pop in here on a rainy Sunday afternoon. They have a happy hour sampling menu offering a nice selection of wine flights for 12.00. Great standard menu for sandwiches - I had the chicken/avocado/greyere with greens and my husband had the grilled vegetable sandwich and we shared a side of fries. The décor is a bit eclectic but works - I always love more an old French bistro décor as this is very modern but it works.
Our sandwiches were delicious as were the fries. Everything arrived piping hot. Service was great throughout the meal - only minor complaint is once the bill arrive, seemed to take forever to check out. Seems the waiters are not allowed to run the cards through.
If you come there before 7 pm, a wine tasting (3 wines, half-glass each) either pre-selected or custom is a very good deal for $12. Combined with a few small plates (crostinis are really good, all of them - take 8 for $21) makes a great lite dinner. Service was very attentive too.
I had been to the restaurant in Montmartre where the movie Amelie was filmed and wanted to feel the French experience while in NYC on my business trip. It turns out the owner also owns a bakerie across from that restaurant in France.
We had a great meal, cocktails and wine. Our waiter was a delight and overall a delighful evening at Amelie.
my husband and I chose this wine bar for a special meal on our visit to New York. We were not disappointed in the food, choices of wine, service or ambience. Loved the special wine flight prices before 7. Just a very enjoyable experience!!! We will be back.
The food tasted authentic, and the dishes were really delicious. It was a bit on the pricey side overall. But for a date/friends gathering I thought it was worth it. It's definitely necessary to take advantage of the cheaper prices during Happy Hour! The Escargots were definitely one of the most delicious appetizers I tried there. Highly recommended.
Had a reservation but got there earlier than expected and the host was very accommodating. Food and wine were delicious. I'd definitely recommend the hangar steak.
t think our only issue was the speed the food came out. Couldn't get through each one fast enough and the small table filled up very quickly. Other wise cute spot.
Great French Food in an unstuffy French Restaurant
You don't often get jokes from your French waiter and busboy, but we did. It was fun, energetic, the food was terrific (I had mussels, pate, he had oysters and coq au vin). I have to say, I wish I ordered the coq au vin. It was delicious. Everything was. I really wanted dessert, but opted for more wine...which was great!
