Bar area was packed and restaurant seemed full with a line out the door when we arrived. However the host came through the line asking if anyone had reservations and once we were confirmed we were seated right on time. Service was quick but didn't feel rushed. And although seats are close together you could have a conversation without shouting
I adore everything about Amelie! The wine and food are amazing, the happy hour is one of the best in the city, and the staff is super friendly.
We went for the foie gras and loved everything. Can't beat the value!
They sent a text at 10 and said they would not be open until 12... so we were unable to go. Next trip!!!
Wine was phenomenal, as was the service. The food, was the best part. I couldn't have enough of the muscles, and we finished with a steak. A memorable night indeed.
I am sooooo in love with this place!! I rarely write reviews on any of my dining experiences, but but everything we ordered at Amelie was amazing and the service was exceptional. The guys that work here are all so friendly and go above and beyond to make your dining experience the very best.
We had both types of oysters offered as part of the daily special, escargot, mussels, cheese/charcuterie plate and the creme brulee for dinner and every dish was spectacular. They continuously refill a bag of delicious baguette slices and the cocktail that I ordered called the Lady Grey was the very favorite (boyfriend also loved his classic manhattans).
During our dinner, two different servers were finishing up their shifts and both stopped by our table to thank us and say farewell before heading out the door. You could tell this was a genuine act of friendliness on both their parts and not part of any routine that they were trained to do.
This place is such a gem, I can't wait to get back here soon for a night out with my girls!
Wonderful food, ambiance, service and overall experience. Highly recommend for dinner and drinks!
This is our second time visiting Amelie. It is a great combination of food, drinks and atmosphere
The goat cheese w/ pistachios appetizer was amazing!
The coq au vin chicken was also super delicious.
Really great place, very loud though.
This is one of my favorite wine bars. Their cheese selection is outstanding, they have an amazing happy hour deal and the ambiance and staff are perfect.
EXCELLENT! WE LOOK FORWARD TO OUR NEXT MEAL AT AMELIE
Came here because we didn't get a reservation at Carbone. Spent hours on yelp trying to find a good restaurant, and after seeing such great reviews we decided to come here. Clearly people don't have taste buds.
Here is a breakdown of what we ordered.
Foie gras - this was patê for christs sake, NOT FOIE GRAS
Escargot - this was good
Duck confit - the mushrooms were good, not the duck
Steak et frites - no comment
Trout - oily as hell
Overall : why does this place have 4.5 stars??????????
Excellent wine selection, service, food, and ambiance. Amelie never disappoints! Try the escargot, crostinis, and happy hour wine flights...just one time. You will definitely be back!
Food was excellent. Noise level was intolerably loud
I was impressed with this place. The food was good, the happy hour is a great value. They do not compromise on flavor and presentation with the happy hour food and I was happy about that.
The waitstaff were all great. It did get a little slow but it was pretty crowded at the time so I can't blame them.
Worst service from our server which made us leave without trying their delicious food. The server for our table had the worst attitude ever. Could not stay for another second.
Great place! Really liked the food there!! Enjoyed our time there!
This was a lovely surprise! The staff was incredibly friendly, the food was great, and it was fun. We liked it so much we went back the next week.
Took us a long time to be seated. Other walk-ins without reservations were seated at tables while we waited to be seated. We made reservations over a month ago. I love this place, the food, the wine, the ambiance, however , valued & loyal customers should feel valued. Hope to return soon...
Delightful atmosphere, superb staff and music and food. Heartily recommend Amelie!
This is one of my favorite places in the city. The food is always on point, the service and decor are amazing and the prices are just right. Will definitely keep coming back!
Awesome experience. The staff was wonderful and very pleasant. Definitely giving them visit when I return to New York City.
The food and wine were amazing. I had the duck confit - it was delicious and I would highly recommend it! Great ambience and good dinner date spot. The only critique I have is that the service was so-so.
Great place. Went with friends. Almost everything was excellent (salads, onion soup, mussels) except the steak frites because the steak was a bit tough. Wonderful, well-priced wine. Will be back.
A bit tight on the space but staff & food were great
Decided to pop in here on a rainy Sunday afternoon. They have a happy hour sampling menu offering a nice selection of wine flights for 12.00. Great standard menu for sandwiches - I had the chicken/avocado/greyere with greens and my husband had the grilled vegetable sandwich and we shared a side of fries. The décor is a bit eclectic but works - I always love more an old French bistro décor as this is very modern but it works.
Our sandwiches were delicious as were the fries. Everything arrived piping hot. Service was great throughout the meal - only minor complaint is once the bill arrive, seemed to take forever to check out. Seems the waiters are not allowed to run the cards through.
One of my favorites!
An authentic French wine bar. I love it every time. A little slower service but it allows you to enjoy the meal
If you come there before 7 pm, a wine tasting (3 wines, half-glass each) either pre-selected or custom is a very good deal for $12. Combined with a few small plates (crostinis are really good, all of them - take 8 for $21) makes a great lite dinner. Service was very attentive too.
I had been to the restaurant in Montmartre where the movie Amelie was filmed and wanted to feel the French experience while in NYC on my business trip. It turns out the owner also owns a bakerie across from that restaurant in France.
We had a great meal, cocktails and wine. Our waiter was a delight and overall a delighful evening at Amelie.
