Amelia's Italian Cuisine
We celebrated a birthday at Amelia’s. It was a little difficult to locate it in the courtyard. The food was excellent, the staff were helpful and friendly.
Our 4th visit. Food was Excellent!! Not many Restaurants in Florida are that consistent. Looking forward to another visit later this year!! Great Job by the Staff and Chef Andy!!
I little hard to find, but so very well worth the effort. The food is so amazing, we drove two and one-half hours to eat there again!
It was nice, but nothing spectacular. Location is excellent if you’re staying downtown.
Amelia's is a great place to celebrate an anniversary especially because you will each receive a complimentary glass of champagne! The food is always served hot and delicious. The service is excellent. Best restaurant in Gainesville!
This was our second visit to this wonderful restaurant. Our food was delicious and our server, Donald was great. We will come again.
We have been going to Amelia's for years. It never disappoints. Veal Francese was perfect - as was the lobter ravioli and the grouper. Desserts are fantastic as well. My favorite italian restaurant in Gainesville.
Outstanding food and great service. We have been going to Amelia's for a number of years and have enjoyed it each and every time. Favorites are the calamari, eggplant rollotini, eggplant parmesan and several veal dishes. The bread and salad served with the meals are wonderful too. We came from NJ where great Italian food is everywhere and here in Gainesville Amelia's fits that bill for us. Our last visit we had a birthday in our party and Chef Andy came out and played the saxophone for us. Tons of fun.
Fabulous as always! Great, fresh food and stellar service.
A great place to eat in Gainesville. I had a grouper special and it was simply amazing. Very generous portion. The bread was surperb. This will be my “go to” date night place.
Had an excellent time. Food is fantastic and the service is very attentive.
Fabulous food in a very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!
We adore Amelia's! Andy is a wonderful chef and entertainer with his occasional serenade with his sax for a birthday. We've been coming here for 20+ years. Romantic and quiet, the perfect place for a Valentines date night.
Absolutely amazing! Owner was a cool guy with the coolest pants! Hahaha!
We had a nice dinner for two early on a Tuesday. The restaurant is not easy to find as parking is behind an office building with the same address. No signs visible from the parking lot, so we had to call to get walking directions! Wine bottles were 1/2 price on Tues.! We had veal dishes with salad and house vinegarette dressing. Salad was crisp and fresh with a variety of ingredients. The veal was very tender with scratch made sauce and pasta. Very nice flavor combinations! Service was attentive with no rushing. Prices were very modest for the quality of the food, most meals were $19 - $25. The chef and owner Andy visited our table to check on our meal, very nice and not found today in any corp. dining experience. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and meal and plan to return. The only negative comment was the entrance was through a patio which was not in use (too cold!) but it had empty tables stacked and scattered around, not a good first impression.
We were visiting St. Augustine and drove to Gainesville for one purpose only. To once again ignite the palate with outstanding Italian cuisine. Better than I remembered, better than I could cook, better anything we are able to get at home in North Carolina. WE WILL RETURN.
Finding this restaurant in Gainesville was pure luck. We liked it so much this will be our third visit.
White tablecloths and cloth napkins with excellent food and service.
We spend a great deal of time in Italy yearly and do miss the friendly Tuscan family style Trattoria.
This was our first visit to Amelia's and I think we may have found a Gainesville treasure.
Thank you, Andy ad Drew!
We have been dining at Amelia's for several years and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. The servers know what we like and anticipate our needs. The food is always served fresh and hot.
We had a delicious meal at Amelia's after a Hippodrome play. Two of our party had evening specials, which were both great. The service was quick and professional. The Caesar salad was perfect. I love that they offer anchovies with the salad. I had the flan, which was wonderful. I will return and definitely recommend this restaurant.
Really enjoyed our meal. The fish was superb. I had grouper, my husband had salmon. Both were perfect. Only negative, the salad dressing had too much vinegar.
Ameilia's is just great. A steady, always good place. All dishes are really well prepared. Service always on spot. Owner/chef is always around. When we walked in and he heard name, he know exactly where we were sitting/ requested quiet wall table.
We love the food in this place!! It is my favorite restaurant in Gainesville. My favorite the surf and turf!!
We love everything about Amelia’s. The staff has been there for years and Andy the owner chef is always helping with reservations in addition to cooking and greeting dinner guests. The service is always impeccable. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. And the food is perfectly prepared. My wife always has the lobster ravioli. I love that dish as well as the grouper with clams and the chicken or veal Parmeson or Marisela. Amelia’s is our favorite.
Spent our anniversary here and we’re very pleased.
returned three times in last month
will be back again
As it was NYE they were extremely busy. We were there for 35 minutes before our waiter came to our table with water and took our drink order. After another 10 minutes we asked the hostess if she could
at least get our wine for us. Our entrees came out one hour later and everything was excellent.
I have been occasionally eating at Amelia's with my wife for over 20 years and am always hopeful that it will become a first rate dining place. However, they have stuck to their ways with little change, perhaps because of too little feedback and maybe too good a location. The food was okay, nothing spectacular, although on this visit the chicken picatta was not too bad. Overall the food was unimaginative and expensive for what one received. The tiramisu was similarly just adequate, okay and drowned in drizzled chocolate. The wine list was similarly unimaginative and lacked variety. There was, for example, no Malbec or other interesting wines. The service was slow, but it was New Year's Eve so perhaps that added to the slow pace. The restaurant was super noisy, it was difficult for us to carry on a decent conversation. The value for the money was very poor. I am hopeful they will make changes and bring some imagination to the menu, the decor, the wine list as it is in a great location in downtown near the Hippodrome and other interesting places in Gainesville's wondefully positive development.
We come every New Year’s Eve on our way to Cape Coral. See you Next Year. Server Donald did a great job.

We have been patrons since Amelia’s opened. It has been consistently good for over 30 years. That is rare!
Authentic Italian food prepared exceptionally. Delightful dining atmosphere. The Owner goes out of his way to make sure you are satisfied with your choices from the menu and comfortable at your table.
Drew, our waiter is professional, friendly and accommodating. He is thorough in explaining how certain dishes are prepared and is willing to ask the Chef to alter a dish to your liking. Will definitely return to this restaurant.
This is my favorite restaurant in Gainesville, the quality and taste of the food it is incredible good!!
a pre-christmas dinner with the kids. good wine selection plus a nice variety of Italian dishes cooked very well.
So disappointed! We planned to have a small
Christmas lunch together, just 4 of us! We had a 12:30 reservation which was the wrong time!!! There is only one waitress at lunch. There were two large parties which had come in at 12. The restaurant was jammed. We waited for 1/2 hour to place our orders. Food came within 15 minutes. It was so so. The waitress was very professional and apologetic. She did not charge for the one glass of wine ordered and she offered free desserts. That was nice, but it simply didn’t make up for the noise, the wait and the food. This place is wonderful at night. Not for lunch!!
This place is a little gym. The service is excellent and the food was authentic and very good. I would recommend this spot to anyone. If you're looking for a great Italian restaurant look no further.
I am more and more impressed every time we eat here. The quality remains high. The flavor of the food and the beauty of the presentation is so pleasing. There is always a complete selection of interesting Italian dishes, and the specials are actually special. The prices are very reasonable for such high quality. I just wish I had room for dessert! And the servers are friendly and attentive. It remains one of our go to restaurants.
Always excellent food, service and ambiance. The food tastes fresh and of high quality. Online reservations are convenient and easy. Great selection of menu options and portions are generous for the price. Highly recommend!
Amelia's is the best food in Gainesville! Although the outside patio may not always look nice, I assure you this restaurant has the best food and service. Andy, the owner/chef, will usually greet you during your meal because he is confident you will enjoy it.
Great place for good food and high-end restaurant feel but at a better price. Not extensive but very good wine selection.
