Amelia's Bistro - New Jersey
Great for brunch, very good food and service.
Great time, as always. Food and service was terrific. However, the noise level at Sunday brunch was overbearing.
Went to Amelia's for Easter Brunch and the food was fantastic. I only gave it a four because our waiter seemed to have been quite busy with other stuff and just was a bit distracted but he was nice overall. My husband and I were seated downstairs. I think the downstairs is appropriate if you're having an event since it is private but we personally would have preferred the upstairs or outside seating. Would definitely visit this restaurant again.
We went for a family Sunday brunch based on reviews and we were not disappointed. The portions are large and food is delicious. Some of our favorites are the Farm House skillet, Lobster Hash and Eggs, and Amelia’s bistro Benedict from the brunch menu. My sons chose off the house menu and raved about Hand rolled Mozzerella sticks and Chipotle club. We also tried a variety of crostinis...favorites smoked salmon and wild mushroom. Service is also terrific. Definitely will be back.
Delicious food. Interesting mix. Excellent cocktails. Also good for two boys, 12 and 14 who enjoyed their gourmet Mac and cheese and burger. I would drive back to Jersey City just to go there for dinner again!!
Sunday Brunch is a very good value. Many options for food including GF which 2 members of my party required. Drink specials are only $4@ which is a bargain. Just be sure to taste the Bloody Mary first in case you are spice sensitive.
Good food and service amazing mimosas
This place was a solid "ok." Definitely not the 4.5 stars that it was rated. The staple soup, tortilla, had a single tortilla chip in it and totally lacked in flavor. The Pear and Gorgonzola Salad was very good as was the dressing it came with. Our other entrees, short rib sandwich, sliders, and chicken club were nothing to write home about. The crab deviled eggs were salty and "didn't taste like they were made anytime soon" as one of our party stated. Being surrounded by so many restaurants, you got to step it up if you want to survive in that neighborhood. I couldn't recommend Amelia's with so many outstanding restaurants to choose from.
Always consistently delicious. A great neighborhood bistro with a big menu, friendly, attentive staff and reasonable prices.
We may have caught them on a bad night but way too many red flags for our first time. Booked a reservation for 8 PM and did not get a greeting until 20 minutes after 8. We were told that they'll be right with us but didn't get seated until 9:30. Once seated, we weren't greeted by our server for another 15 minutes.
Having plenty of time to look over the menu we ordered appetizers along with our dinner. It took nearly 45 minutes for our appetizers (3 crostinis and the truffle mac & cheese) and then our dinners came less than 2 minutes after.
The food was decent but was not at all worth the wait. Won't be coming here on a weekend again, but maybe a weekday lunch or dinner.
Had reservations for 7:30 pm on Friday but unfortunately arrived at 7:50 pm and had to wait for 45 minutes to get seated in the main room. However, once we got seated service was good, food was delicious and cocktails were perfect. Will be back for sure.
Great meal and service. No complaints. Helpful server. Highly recommended - especially for a lovely, civilized Saturday evening
Went for brunch and dinner would recommend brunch for sure. The service is usually very good. The last time I went for dinner there was a mistake and the waitress did not take care of it (she took it back rather than replacing and giving me my money back for the item ). When I went for brunch. I had to ask for an item from at least three people before it came at the end of the meal. I would recommend for brunch and go back but would not give it 5 stars.
This is a nice neighborhood place, food's usually pretty good and the atmosphere is relaxed. I appreciated that the waitress did not rush us as we were catching up with some friends. My only complaint was with my dinner choice which may have been more an interpretation problem. I ordered the Korean steak bowl which I've had a similar thing at other places with a nice hot comforting mix of bite sized beef and rice or pasta and vegetables and enjoyed very much. I guess I had that in mind when I saw it on the menu. For some reason I did not expect this one to be a cold dish and was not what I'd been anticipating. It was a little slimy tasting with the cold wet noodles with some kind of sauce. Plus the beef was rare slices which were almost impossible to cut in a bowl. So I was eating these way to large chunks of rare meat. Cannot recall if the waitress said it was a cold dish and I didn't hear her or it was not explained properly. Lesson learned is stick to basics, know your restaurant's strengths and avoid Americanized versions of traditional dishes.
Went for brunch. Everything was great!!!
Amelia’s is a true gem in the Jersey City restaurant scene. Dinner and brunch are both fantastic! Delicious food, great service and wonderful ambiance. One of my favorite restaurants.
Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. Deserts were great. Service was efficient and friendly. It was our third time here and we will be back.
Terrible experience, will never go back. We have been a old customer of Amelias and have visited many times but this was a horrible experience. We will never go back
the food was bad the service was even worse
Amelia's is a traditional American restaurant with a sophisticated selection of comfort food entrees. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed - just the type of neighborhood "gem" most of us want. The service was superb - and even though the restaurant was full we never had to raise our voices to be heard. I live in WashingtonDC but definitely plan to visit Amelia's the next time I'm in Jersey City
Food is mediocre at best. My salmon was given to me undercooked and after I asked them to cook it some more it came back to me still pink inside. I don’t think I will be giving it a second chance.
They were very busy on New Year’s Day and the service was a bit chaotic.
Food was great had the buffalo cauliflower and I fell in love. Our waiter was very attentive
Food was very good, service was ok. Coffee is horrible. They do not know how to make a good espresso. Americano also tastes horrible.
Great food and service. Awesome tapas and cocktails!
We like this restaurant however the food for brunch this time was distinctly average. The service is always good and the menu is extensive and perhaps that’s the problem. The food arrived slightly warm and not great flavors. Bloody Mary’s were good though. All that said I’m not giving up on this one.
Upon reading all the past reviews I was really looking forward to Brunch. We walked in to a bright happening place Sunday morning and we’re promptly escorted downstairs to a windowless empty dining room. Not the same fun vibe as upstairs. It did quickly fill up. The downstairs also had an unpleasant odor. We were first served some cold muffins with jelly and no butter. I will say the service was good. The food not so much. The OJ advertised as “fresh squeezed “ wasn’t. I ordered the chicken and waffles which many reviews commented on and the waffles tasted like the frozen, toaster kind. The breakfast flatbread was skimpy on ingredients. All and all a mediocre meal at best. Would not go back.
It was our first time. We have been exploring Jersey city from Manhattan. Service was great. Our server was quick and knowledgeable.
Loved the variety of tapas. The only negative was our special entree of the day. The snapper was a little overcooked. We ordered it because it looked really good.
Oh well. Would go back for another try.
Very cute bistro, good place for brunch with friends. Amazing service, we cozied up in the corner and had conversations while being served delicious food and drink.
Amelia’s is consistently good. Good service, great food, small plates if you’re like me & you like to share a try a variety of things on the menu.
Great local favorite, very diverse menu and everything I've had so far is super delicious. Amazing value for the price, and the outdoor seating is quaint and quiet.
Good food, nice staff but it was very slow service for how few patrons were there.
My girlfriend and I have been here a number of times, and we keep coming back for the food. She loves the Salmon salad because they cook it to perfection. I've tried a number of their other dishes and they have been hit or miss...the smoked salmon is the best of the benedicts and enjoy their breakfast potatoes . We are also big fans of the muffin basket. The staff are usually friendly and the food often comes out quickly. Service seems to slow down especially during the brunch rush...we are usually waiting for the check for quite a while (this time was no different). We usually get coffee beforehand because it's weak and usually comes out luke warm.
It's a wonderful restaurant for casual dining during lunch to compliment business associates on their hard work for the program they presented to executives.
Restaurant week selection wasn’t much to brag about. The short ribs were bland and was not presented well. Needless to say, it wasn’t very tasty.
A real find. Diverse menu. Reasonable prices. Great atmosphere. Food was "excellent" ... delicious and ample portions. Very nice servers. I met friends there but it's great for special occassions too. They even have a private room downstairs.
The food and service was adequate. The bartender was excellent. He really knew his business. Nice setting.
Great Food! Went here for a special reunion and everything delivered!
My friend and I enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch outdoors. The food was very good. We were not rushed. Prices were reasonable. I would recommend Amelia’s to my friends and family.
Great apps. Tuna Tartare was awesome and the 6 bites we got.
Great food, service was bit slow and environment can be more lively. But overall excellent food and great value for money.
