A great idea for an indian fusion restaurant with tapas style service. The portions are tiny. Not shareable at all unless you're sharing with one other person and you each take one bite. The prices are misleading as the "snacks" are a reasonable $8-12 for a small portion, where 2-3 people can take a bite, but the "larger" tapas are $20-40 but just as small as the snacks. The waitress explains this to you and recommends ordering 2 or 3 of the same item to feed a table of 4 people. The food itself was delicious very well spiced and a great blend of Indian and Thai flavors. Each tiny bite was amazing and made you want more, but alas there was no more to be had. They also never brought out two of our dishes but the service was so slow we opted not to wait. The tapas experience should be continuous ordering and delivery of food so you're always nibbling on something. The waitress waited for us to completely finish our first round of food before asking us for the second which then required us to wait empty handed for another 30 minutes for very unsatisfying amount of food. My taste buds left happy but my stomach left feeling empty. Maybe that's why she kept asking us if we wanted more alcohol so we would be distracted by the lack of food in our stomachs. Bigger portions and a better tapas service would make this place amazing.
The food and service were top notch for a reasonable price
We had salmon crudo as an appetizer, salmon and steak frites as main courses and everything was delicious. But our choice of brussel sprouts as a side was our favorite dish. Amazing!
Absolutely perfect experience from the time we gave our keys to the valet. Wonderful evening. Amazing food. Spectacular service.
Food was mostly fried, not very refined.
Good food but a little too loud inside the restaurant. The outdoor patio was pleasant
loved the food! broussel sprouts, wings, salad, flatbread was tasty. the place is set with perfect lighting for a sexy ambiance. Service was great, the only hiccup was that I had made reservations outside and they told me that there was a bigger party and we could not sit outside. I made the reservation months in advance and specifically asked to be seated outside.
Delicious food! Great place for a romantic or special occasion.
Loud, understaffed and kitchen over worked. Getting food took forever and was mediocre at best. One dish we ordered never came.
You had to talk in a raised voice to be heard. Good luck to them, they will need it too succeed.
The tapas are great. Many are reasonably priced. Since spot.
We visited on Valentine’s Day, which they served a preset four course menu. This was our first time there, so I can say much to their regular menu. But everything we got from the preset menu was amazing! The sea bass dish was just plain amazing! We loved the ambiance and decor. Can’t wait to visit again!
We had an outstanding Valentine's Day dinner at Ambrosia! It was our first time there and we will definitely be back. The food and service were the best. Can't wait to go back and would highly recommend it.
Small restaurant with nice outdoor seating area. Menu offers all small plates which is great for sharing. We went with our waitress‘s recommendations. All was delicious. We had great service, our waitress was very friendly and engaging and the different type foods were served remarkably fast. We will definitely come back.
Great, quick service even though it was super busy!
Great concept with small plates that are meant for sharing with Asian fusion theme. We really enjoyed all of the dishes, the standouts being the potatoes and the strip steak as well as the ribs. Will definitely be back!
Food and cocktails are always great. Service was exceptional. Such a lively place.
This is a cozy date night spot. Asides from the fact that I got stuck with a wobbly chair, the food and ambiance at Ambrosia were excellent. We enjoyed the ribs very much and hope to come back soon.
We had a party of 9 seated in one of the alcoves. The food was delicious, particularly the Brussels sprouts and lamb samosas. We tried many of the small dishes and most were winners. We tried several of the cocktails and they were just okay...nothing to write home about. The seating in the front alcove has low tables, so you will be leaning in to eat. Overall, excellent service and delicious food. This restaurant has a unique and relaxed vibe...if you are looking for uptight and stuffy, stay away. We will be returning to enjoy the “reverse” happy hour.
Great as always. Appreciate the menu as it labels what's veggie friendly etc easily.
Made a reservation an hour in advance & was able to get a private room & table of 10. Staff was SO nice & accommodating. They stayed on top of keeping us updated with our table while we waited. Waitress told us the history about the restaurant & explained the menu very well. Food was good but some dishes are a bit different which is why I rated that area a 3. None the less, over all would rate it a 9/10. It’s very affordable too!! & perfect for a date night or special occasion. Oh & the rice was taking a while so they gave us free Brussels sprouts! Awesome service.
Restaurant was great! I do think in they need to adjust their menu.
Noise level was quiet as we ate early in dinner service. Service was attentive throughout meal until we were ready for credit card to be collected. Food was disappointing and in general, overpriced for the portion and quality. The bok choy was tasty as it was fresh and pleasantly sauced. The grilled rib-eye special was well-priced for happy hour, but requested medium was served well done. The samosas tasted like they were wrapped in wonton wrappers, not samosa pastry, and the lamb filling was under-seasoned and dry. The desserts were an abomination: the pandan cake tasted like it was either cooked or at least reheated in a microwave and had the texture and delicacy of a kitchen sponge; the pot de creme was obviously stored frozen and microwaved or otherwise quickly defrosted for serving as it had an icy core and mushy exterior.
Special mention must be made of the Pandan dessert (BRILLIANT, I’m Malaysian and can attest to how authentic it tasted) and Samosas as well as the Pork Shu Mai and Thai-Talian Risotto. The latter most definitely not for the faint of heart but AMAZING. The Red Snapper was delicious but so salty we could not finish it. And the Mushroom Flatbread was ok. My critique, if you can call it that, would be the misspelling of my name. It may seem trivial but service is everything and it’s these little things that make someone come back. That being said, we’ll be returning if only for the Risotto and Pandan Cake!!!
First time we went there ... food was excellent. So we decided to go there again. Not sure if the chef is different or different owner. But the food was very greasy, the restaurant didn’t seem appetizing, it was not so clean so to speak. The staff though are extremely friendly and nice.
I would not go again there.
The food experience was extraordinary but the service and the extra charges on my credit card for “add on tip” after I left cash were unprofessional- which is being disputed. As a former waiter, it’s a rule that you don’t do that to your customers even if they leave you a bad tip. Because of it, I would like everyone who goes here to keep your receipts and be wary of this type of behavior.
Very fun and lively. The menu was very creative and the food—such as the sprouts, the wings, the steak were all excellent. The one down side was that we went on Xmas and they were understaffed and service was slow. I don’t think this is the norm and I certainly intend to return on another more normal day.
Great ambiance and food.
I’ve been at this restaurant a number of times, so I know it’s good. I knew something weird was up when i received a confirmation call just thirty minutes before arrival, asking if we still planned on coming. Unfortunately, some inconsiderate company party overtook most of the dining room, attention of the wait staff, and made our entrees come out in the most bizarre order as the kitchen staff was in the weeds the entire night. It really impacted the enjoyment of our birthday dinners. If you’re going to have a party that large disrupt everyone else’s meals with subpar service, poorly timed service, or at points over cooked food, you cannot handle a party that size and other guests. I mean, shame on the people who booked up a small restaurant on a busy Friday night, but this was an oversight on whoever handles reservations. They were out of samosas at 7:30, and that’s far too early in the evening to be out of a dish. I kind of feel like we wasted money when we could’ve spent it at another restaurant that didn’t treat an entire section of guests like they were secondary to a tab across the restaurant.
The food was outstanding - however they are not set up to manage a large party. We had 16 guests and the service was pretty slow. The table was not ready when we arrived - causing the party to gather in the bar area which is in the middle of the restaurant. I would suggest the limit their table reservations sizes or add more servers on nights when they have larger parties.
I've been there before and the food was outstanding as always. Normally the service is much better. To be clear, the waiter was friendly and responsive - however it took forever to get drinks and food out. I think he had been stretched too thin by the large groups that night.
I absolutely LOVE the food at Ambrosia. Very unique mix of tastes, all delicious. My only complaint was that it was relatively noisy (at peak time on a Saturday night). Overall, highly, highly recommended.
We had a great experience. Amanda was our server and she was wonderful. She was very attentive even as the place got very busy. Food was tasty and super hot coming out of the kitchen. Brussels sprouts and prawns were both delicious. Ambrosia never disappoints.
Nice venue, but impossibly noisy. Very hard to hear with lots of hard surfaces and a noisy bar that is part of the space. Food is interesting, but the service is spotty. Large gaps in the delivery of food.
Food was great, service was nice. The interior was really load for such a small restaurant.
My girlfriend and I met for after work drinks and dinner. She’d been here before but I had not. I found the menu tantalizing and our server Kristin was perfect. At first we were the only ones there because we arrived early (sometimes that means you’ll get either overbearing service or absent service), but she was right on point. I don’t handle excessive Lee hot spice very well, and she directed me away from certain dishes so that I wouldn’t be displeased. We enjoyed several dishes and I will get all of them again. The only potential downside was the fact that ithe restaurant was extremely dimly lit, which led to the requisite iPhone flashlight to read the menu. Also, when the food was served you didn’t get the visual impact that they intended, because you couldn’t see it very well.
Keep in mind that they do not have regular happy hour on Friday, but they do have reverse happy hour that night. Cocktails are $12 each unless you get them at happy hour and then they’re $8.
Great find on Lexington. Loved everything
Crab fried rice
Curry French fries
Very, very loud. Too loud for a business dinner.
Another enjoyable dinner at Ambrosia. I appreciate that it seems like a lot of thought went into each dish we ordered. I think the flavor combinations are unique, and set this restaurant apart. Fortunately, there is great overlap between what the chef thinks of and what I like to eat - so I'll be back.
This was our fourth time here. Outstanding as always.
If you're looking for a little variety and spice in your foodie life, Ambrosia is a nice change of pace from the usual Houston fare. Their dishes are a blend of Indian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Thai influences. Most of their dishes are actually a bit on the spicy side. The outdoor courtyard in front was nice, airy, and cozy. Inside is a pub vibe, but a little claustrophobic. Great drink list too, again with lots of asian influenced hand crafted cocktails.
