Ambiyan Ratings and Reviews
Food and service was good. Good size portions, food prices not bad for quality. Wine prices are outrageous. $16 for 8oz house wine, even for Unionville is expensive. Wine bill more than food bill and I dined with 82 year old mother, we weren’t exactly overdoing it!
The server was very weird!! Didn’t bother to wait till we finished eating our dishes. Just pounced on the dishes to clear the table as soon as he thought we were done eating. Had to tell him twice that we were still not done eating the food! No warmth, no greeting on arrival! Just plain blunt and boring service. Food was better than we expected.
Always great food and service. We were a group of 9 and we enjoyed a lovely table outside on the patio. Everyone enjoyed the food and ambiance. The garlic naan is a must try aside from the Dhaba Chicken Curry, Butter Chicken, Prawns Vindaloo, Eggplant Bharta, etc....all very yummy and we took the leftovers home to enjoy the next day. Thank you for another great meal! Definitely a great location on Unionville main street. Recommend making a reservation on weekends as it gets very busy. Be back soon. Bahut dhanyavaad.
Specified in the reservation that we were bringing an infant but when we arrived, we were seated beside the entrance where a cold breeze came each time the door was open. Food was exceptional but our server didn't seem very friendly as he never asked us if we needed anything even though our infant was crying. However, we did have another server kind enough to offer help and I had a nice conversation with him as he was a parent as well.
We sat on the upper patio and felt a little tight for space but overall very nice atmosphere. Servers were very attentive and helpful when ordering. We had appetizers (veggie samosas are incredible), mains and a few sides. Everything we ordered came out hot and delicious! Nice portion sizes for sharing....except the rice...I could've eaten the whole bowl myself :) I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Cheers!
Normally the service is stellar and would get five stars for service. This is a regular place for me -- I go all the time. But on this night in particular, we had a new waiter who was good at coming around the tables but didn't appear to be paying attention to what we were saying and, as a result, forgot someone's appetizer. He wasn't on top of the water refills either. I'm willing to forgive because it's my favorite restaurant and new people need a bit of a learning curve.
Pricey meal but very good Indian food. The restaurant seemed a bit understaffed for the number of patrons that were present. It took a long time for us to wrap up our meal and pay our bill because of this. Everyone who was there working was very polite and working hard, they just needed more people. Other than that, great food, great experience, will be back again.
I read some great reviews of this restaurant and wanted to try myself. I'm Punjabi and find it difficult to find good Indian food. I really enjoyed what I was served. The portion sizes were just right and the service was lovely. The mushroom and paneer puff pastry was my favourite appetizer and the chicken chettinad was perfect. We will be back again!
The service was pretty poor. When we asked what a specific dish was the waiter said "read the description on the menu". The starter, chicken pakora, was below average and half of the batter was raw. It said it came with dipping sauces and none were given. When asked for, the waiter pretended like he had no idea what I was talking about. They gave no poppadoms which is what every restaurant gives you (I've eaten Indian in several countries) and overall the food was poor. The butter chicken was much more similar to chicken tikka masala. It was a decent dish but other than that the food isn't great for the price you pay. The decor is a disaster - they're charging elegant and top class restaurant prices when it's just average. You pay 20$ for a dish and then they charge you for rice separately!!!??? There was no ambiance - you can hear everbodys conversations, there's no background music or anything. I wouldn't recommend eating here - there are much better Indians especially downtown for half of the price and better food, service & ambiance!
