We met up with friends from out of town who wanted good seafood, and after reading the reviews decided to try Amberjax. We were not dissappointed with our decsion. The service was great and the food was even better. The servers and kitchen go out of their way to deliver the combination of food requested. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection.

In the last three years, this was the most unpleasant experience I had at this restaurant. The server was more worried about helping the bartender than attending her tables. The oysters were delayed because they were burnt, and then when they did come out they were the smallest oysters I have ever seen in my entire life. All of our food was too salty, and you mind as well not ask for light butter on your veggies, as they are coming out soaking in half a cup anyway. Then, don’t be in a hurry for your meal....an hour later it appeared with apologies. What was the compensation? A free dessert for a table that gave up sweets for lent.

The sea bass was amazing! One of my favorites entrees when it’s on the menu.

Food was so fresh and delicious. We all ordered a different entree and everyone cleaned their plate! Mixed crabcake appetizer was great to share. And our waitress could not have been more friendly. Only downside is the noise level, but that's to be expected with concrete floors and chalkboard walls listing daily specials.
Definitely a great place for fresh seafood.

We went to Amberjax on a week night to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant surprisingly had just a few guests dining. This was OK because we had the back dining area to ourselves.

Our server was really nice and fun. She had a unique notebook that she gave us to write comments and autograph at the conclusion of dinner.

It took quite a while for our food to come out. Despite this mishap, all of the orders were correct. The fried shrimp were a little salty for my mother’s taste but everyone else had good reviews for their meals. I ordered the shrimp n grits and it was tasty.

I’ll return to Amberjax in the future for lunch perhaps.

The biggest complaint I had regarding this visit, was we had reservations for 8. The manager came by and checked on us and during the conversation he was talking about how busy they were with walkins, in fact we were the only reservation. If that was truly the case, then why put us at the front of the restaurant between the hostess stand and bar. We should have had priority seating in the back due to the reservation. It was very loud and busy at the front. Would not go back as a group for special occasion again.

Our waitress was lovely, but it took forever to get the food. Once we got, the food was cold. Ugh...entrees priced too high relative to service level, ambience, and quality of food. Sorry.
