Amberjax Fish Market Grill at Trinity Groves Ratings and Reviews
This seafood is phenomenal considering it’s not close to the coast, but they get their catch in twice/day! Highly recommend the Lobster Mac & Cheese! So amazing, my plate was clean! Staff is friendly, helpful and eager to please! Prices are steep, but it is worth it for real, and amazing seafood!
The fish and the crab cakes were wonderful. The sides were not good at all. The lobster Mac and cheese was cold. The asparagus was way under cooked. The mashed sweet potatoes were just that. No real seasoning at all. But... the mahi mahi was amazing. And the Creole crab cakes were exactly what I was looking for! I will go again, I just won't order and sides. Our waitress was exceptional as well.
I keep wanting to like this place, but after three tries, I think I'm done. We made a reservation well in advance of our Saturday night dinner with friends, but we still ended-up with a table near the hostess stand on a busy server thoroughfare. The service was erratic and the servers tried really hard to be friendly and energetic, but seemed completely overworked and harassed. My already-too-weak drink was watered-down by the time it sat on the bar for 10 minutes waiting for someone to pick it up, but I didn't relish waiting another 20 minutes that it had taken to order and receive it - so I just drank it - ick. The food? Well, it's just OK. My cheese grits were barely warm, hard around the edges, and the cheese just lay in an un-melted blob on top - ick again. I will say the hatch crab cake was good - cold, but good. But topping-off the less-than-great meal was having servers continuously crowd by us with trays of food and drinks from the bar - as well as the multitudes of guests that pushed past us to get to their tables. I wondered why they would give an expected party (who had planned ahead and made a reservation) a table that was obviously meant for walk-in guests. I guess I'll never know because this was probably my last visit.
Our second trip here and another solid experience. Celebrated our 14 yr old son's birthday, so good for kids. Service was spot on; helpful but not overwhelming and not rushed at all. Bluefish was very good (off the chalkboard menu). Kido had lobster mac and cheese; terrific.
Can get noisy. Fine for us but would be hard to hear with large group. Craft cocktails spot on.
I ordered scallops and never received. The flounder was a mess, just maybe 3-4 oz of a ultra thin fillet that was so over cooked it was tasteless and jerky Texture. Should have never left kitchen. Service was lacking. Ordered couple bottles of wine and left to serve ourselves.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. I was in the mood for fried food and, although they had many non-fried selections, I refused to be tempted.
The catfish platter was fresh, delicious, and bountiful. It was soooo good and exactly what I wanted with two huge filets, mounds of fries, and some of the best Coke slaw I have ever tasted.
Service was outstanding. It was attentive without being disruptive. We never had to ask for a thing as our ever need was anticipated and met by their wonderful staff.
This place is not to be missed!
I ordered the Trout, but because of the hurricane, they weren't getting their scheduled delivery of fish and they were out of Trout. So I ordered the Branzino fish, and I was so glad they were out of Trout because the Branzino which I had never had before was AWESOME !!!!!! The server we had Rey, was AWESOME and very knowledgeable about the menu and how the food was prepared. We will definitely be back !!!!
I, normally, have an amazing experience. However, this was an off night for Amberjax. The server was amazing and did all he could to try to fix the situation. The manager on duty did what he could to make amends. I don't feel my experience on this occasion is what I would measure Amberjax.
