Amber West Village Ratings and Reviews
Food was very good - although I am not an expert on sushi. The menu had a nice mix of sushi/sashimi and Thai. The waitress was helpful in suggesting how much we order, she stopped me from ordering one more item which would have been too much. There were a couple of larger groups of friends and they were very noisy. Once they left, we were able to talk and hear each other.
This restaurant is a hidden gem! I arrived on the tail end of their weekend brunch special, so the restaurant was pretty empty and made way for a very peaceful meal. My server was extremely attentive and the food was tasty. I can definitely see myself visiting in the future.
Went here on a date before a show, I wanted to introduce my boyfriend to Sushi. Not much for curb appeal, I almost cancelled my reservation but the music was really good so we kept it. Our table was nice, server was fantastic and our starters were really top notch. But our sushi wasn't quite up to par, strange texture and temperature. We didn't finish our rolls. Probably won't be back, unless just to sit at the bar and listen to early 00's hip hop and have some starters.
I came here with three of my friends for brunch on a Saturday and the experience was very pleasant. The restaurant was not crowded when we were there, so the service was excellent. Our waiter Oscar was wonderful and very attentive. The food was amazing, and a lot compared to what you pay. We were so full afterwards! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
Came here on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. We had the lettuce cups and sushi for 2, with drinks. Decent price for the West Village, and both eh food and the drinks were delish (Lychee Martini-yum!). Would for sure recommend. The staff was also really friendly--one of the managers gifted me a rose while C was in the bathroom haha!
The food was good (not great) and the service was sub-par. I think they opened fairly recently so hopefully they'll improve as they hit more of a stride. I have been to other Amber's in the City and have had a very good experience. Jury is still out on this one.
I met my cousin after work and she wanted Thai or sushi so we chose Amber West Village for the neighborhood and cuisine. I had a special sushi roll and seaweed salad and she had a Thai vegetarian dish. The food was very tasty and the portions were perfect. Service was excellent and the waiter very helpful in answering some questions we had. The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. Prices were reasonable too! We both enjoyed our evening and decided it was worth visiting again. I will definitely recommend this place for a great stop in the Village.
The salmon and tuna sushi was excellent. The fish melts in your mouth. Met up with friend I hadn't seen for ages, sat for a long time while the most pleasant waitress smiled without making us feel guilty for taking up space. Our water kept being filled. Consistently excellent food.
After our first experience the other night, we'll definitely be back. The sushi was absolutely spectacular from the yellowtail rolls to the eel, it was fresh and beautifully prepared. The miso eggplant was perfect as well. The only letdown was the tamarind chicken...it needs improvement... the pieces of fried chicken were so small that the dish (which had a wonderful flavor) was like eating fried panko bits with no discernible chicken taste or pieces. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic and the service was excellent. Great find!
