Amber Upper East Ratings and Reviews
I went with two friends and we loved the ambiance, the service and the food. One of my friends got the drunken noodles, I got the spicy roll combo and my other friend got a sushimi platter. Everything was excellent and served very tastefully. I highly recommend this restaurant!
i ordered combination fish ceviche.. what came out was completely something different..
When i said : this must be mistake, this is nothing close to ceviche.. had one shrimp and in fact the vegetables were pan fried/sauteed ..
The establishment insisted that it was ceviche and kept arguing..
I know a ceviche.. i asked them : define for me what ceviche is or look up in Wikipedia.
They could not.
When the restaurant doesn't know what they are doing and then goes on to argue with customer... it's never a winning combination !
Took my kids for dinner and we had a great meal. Quite expensive but totally worth it! Great choices for sushi rolls, some of which I'd never seen before. We sat in the back room, which was nice but I wouldn't say there was any ambiance. It was nice though and service was good. I would definitely go back!
Relaxed date and cozy spot. Went on a Wednesday night and we almost had the place to ourselves. Attentive wait staff and quick service. Based on the ambiance, I believe the prices were a little high and would have thought that there would have been a happy hour, but all in all a nice night!
Amber is a congenial neighborhood place. The servers did a good job and were pleasant and responsive. Prices are quite reasonable. Beer was good. TVs are great. Cooked food was alright -- BUT the sushi was disappointing. If this is truly among the best sushi on the UES, then we need some new entrants. Atlantic Grill, which is not "Asian", serves much better sushi.
We got together with friends to start up a holiday dinner with them and this was a fun place. There were options for everyone on the menu (even those who don't like sushi). The spicy edamame were AMAZING!! We really enjoyed our time at this place. The staff were attentive but not overbearing and offered good suggestions on the menu to us and our friends. Recommend this place. The decor is really nice, too.
One guy at the bar area was talking SOOO loudly that everyone in the restaurant was staring - and the staff did NOTHING to make him quiet down. He literally sounded like he was yelling. My friend asked the staff nicely to advise him to keep his tone down, but they didn't, so my friend had to ask the guy himself.
