Amber Café Ratings and Reviews
Service was attentive and not rushed. Food was outstanding. My husband had the whitefish and I had the special, fluke. Both were served with plenty of perfectly cooked vegetables on the side. Dessert was a complimentary slice of key lime cheesecake....delish!
Seemed understaffed. Slow getting a server initially, slow getting first drink from bar which is unusual here from previous visits. Never were asked for second slice of bread- asked multiple times for butter refill. The busser was rude and nearly threw the cup of coffee at us. Something seemed very off from what we expected.
This was the 4th time we’ve been to Amber Cafe. The 1st time we were very impressed but our other visits were just OK. Our Wednesday night was mixed among the 4 of us. The NY strip was very good but the Gnocchi was very heavy on the tomato sauce and the chicken that my wife had was undercooked. The service was excellent and it is a charming little room. I guess it just depends on what you order.
Overall nice experience. Very good food, slightly limited menu, maybe slightly pricey (not much), nice wine list.
Interior is all 'hard surfaces' so noise level is relatively high just from adjacent tables' conversations. OK if occasion fits that environment, good for nice dinner out either as couple or with friends. Would not be the best environment for a 'romantic dinner' (lighting and noise level).
Would definitely go back, nice to have a good 'American Cuisine' restaurant locally with nice varied though limited menu and good limited wine list.
Overall value is 4-.
One thing is it was a cold evening and the front door was without a secondary breezeway causing cold air to enter with ever use.
Our mushroom appetizers took forever. I believe they were forgotten. When I reminded them, the mushrooms arrived but were cold.
The dinners were good as was the coffee. The staff was good.
The service we received from our waiter left a lot to be desired. We got better service from out "busboy" than we got from the waiter. This was really the only negative of the night. The food was very good as were all other aspects of our dinning experience. Definitely a return trip in the future.
Celebrated our birthdays tonight with our 94 year old Grandmother and 73 year old mother and they both loved it. The food and service were top notch and we were able to speak to each other during dinner as it wasn't super noisy (which Gigi really enjoyed). Thank you for a wondering evening out.
I ordered short ribs but got a dry horrible piece of pot roast that I wouldn't give to my dog.
My girlfriend ordered white fish. It was dry and overcooked.
I spent half of the night on the toilet, the other half I was in pain. I would have been better off with a cheeseburger from McDonald's. Sent the meal back with two thirds of the meat left. It had zero moisture, and I needed a drink of water to wash it down my throat or I would have chocked. It was definitely pot roast, not short ribs, and was served over a bed of soggy veggies and mashed potatoes. Horrible experience! Got the scallops to replace it. They were good. They didn't even comp a desert for the troubles. Don't go to this place. Over priced and over rated!
My husband and I celebrated our 31st anniversary at our favorite restaurant, Amber. Beautiful patio, delicious food, and awesome service! The whitefish is my favorite - served with tomatoes, spinach and cous cous- it is just so good!! My husband had the steak frites special which was perfectly medium rare. Our server Chris surprised us with prosecco to toast our anniversary - a perfect evening!
We really loved Amber - the food and service were awesome as we celebrated my husband's birthday. Maybe because it was a summer Wednesday evening, but by 8:30, we were the only people in the restaurant! It was a little odd, but still had a wonderful meal. I would definitely be back and sit on the incredible outdoor patio.
