Enjoy a choice of wine or beer along with your meal.
Start your meal off spicy with babai idly served with karampodi, ghee and chutney. To begin with something milder, you can choose from starters like samosas, onion pakodas and sambar vada. Next, pick from a variety of lentil crêpes called dosas. Options include potato masala dosa and bonda egg dosa. You can find plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrées at Godavari Ambassador Indian Restaurant. End your meal with something sweet, like the Bengali gulab jamun, which is a popular dessert.
Being on a busy street with an entrance that is not grand, certainly creates an impression that does not measure up to the dining experience you will soon have. The service, food, and atmosphere was simply incredible. We lingered through 4 courses and a bottle of wine being doted on and courted through each course by the staff in such a welcoming and attentive manner. This is a must visit while in DC. The food was beautifully presented and equally delicious.
Food is good, ambience not so much. Price is ok, but a bit high IMO.
