Service was excellent. The sea bass was not very good. No one in the party like it. All other food was good. The filet and desserts were excellent.
Celebrated 2 Bdays this morning for breakfast. Great location and fantastic service. Vladimir offered superior attention and service. Highly recommend
What a beautiful property but unfortunately was heavily understaffed. Food was quite good, wine was great, but the service lag was tough at this price point. Will return to hopefully a more fully staffed venue.
We had a wonderful table on the patio. The food was good and servers were very nice. There was a mix up in the kitchen so it was slow to get our food. We weren’t in a hurry so it worked out fine in the end.
There were flies everywhere. We had breakfast outside by the terrace and could keep up with all the flies all over our table. It ruined our time there. It was really uncomfortable and couldn’t wait to finish our meals and leave.
Such a great experience. The staff was great from the very beginning. We appreciate all they did for our large group.
Everything was great, food, drinks and service! 🙏. Beautiful place ❤️
It was lovely to return to the Fairmont Grand Del Mar last evening. My friend and I enjoyed an exceptional forest mushroom soup, braised short ribs, yum! Everything was delicious. The service is friendly, timely, and we enjoyed a no rush experience. Of special note are Carlos and Carolyn, who provided warm conversation, recommendations and excellent service.
Food and service were top notch.
Carlos our waiter and the entire staff simply nailed it. They kept apologizing for our wait times and it was just not even noticed by us. We had a wonderful time in every way.
The music, the service and the food were memorable and made our special evening something to cherish.
Such an exquisite place to dine. I loved the patio outdoor seating and beautiful music while having brunch...😋
We went here for our anniversary dinner and it was our first time. The place did not disappoint. The ambiance felt like we were in another state or Europe. The staff were all great and paying attention to everything. The live music was very entertaining and relaxing. The food was also great and the price is just like of a regular steak restaurant but the service and ambiance made a bid difference. Will definitely come back to this place!
Outstanding service. Not impressed with the brunch menu could be better. Would recommend for lunch or dinner. Really enjoyed the live music.
Service was slow, which I think is more standard for pandemic service. The low rating is due to the food being pretty disappointing. 7 pm reservations for an outside table but not seated until 7:30 due to no outside availability
Service was very good. Wait staff was kind and attentive. The food was uninventive. The filet mignon and the burger were good but way overpriced for presentation and quality. The hanger steak tartar was completely flavorless. I poured Worcester sauce which I ordered as an attempt to add some flavor. The dill overwhelmed the flavorless meat. The Chilean sea bass felt as though it had been under a heat lamp for awhile. Somehow pre-cooked and then finished to order, which at the price is unacceptable. The chips as garnish were very good. The special green sauce with the oyster was fabulous! One of the people in our party left their jacket and one of the staff ran it up to the valet. Fabulous! Valet parkers were kind and attentive.
Our group of 4 had Sunday brunch, cocktail hour and dinner at Amaya to celebrate a friend’s birthday on 9/12/2021. We only dined at Amaya and did not stay at Fairmont Resort.
- Employees and guests are not required to wear masks. So for those very cautious about COVID may feel uncomfortable because practically no one was wearing a mask. However the Fairmont property including Amaya restaurant are well maintained and clean.
- Outdoor and indoor dining areas were available at Amaya. Outdoor dining area was more crowded than indoors. Both options however I think provide pleasant ambience. Dining tables were well spread out and there was ample space between tables.
- Brunch menu is not too exciting but quality ingredients are used. Dinner is more memorable especially the Chilean sea bass and soup of the day which was asparagus and celery cream soup.
- Our group enjoyed cocktails at bar area before dinner which was fun and convenient.
- Host, servers, everyone representing Amaya were friendly and welcoming.
- Meals and beverages are super expensive and overpriced but I think worth it for a once a year special day like a good friend’s birthday.
The outdoor seating was romantic and cozy with a lovely live performance. All the food was made and served to perfection. The oysters from Baja CA and the Chilean sea bass were so fresh and well prepared. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
I ordered the ribs, it was delicious. I think that it would be even better if it had a little less meat and some other vegetable instead. Service was outstanding.
Chilean Sea Bass and Rigatoni were great. Service was timely and friendly. Very nice outside setting.
Very lovely indoors, but it was perfect being outdoors on the patio. Food and value was less than what I had expected to pay for two entrees, two salads, and two desserts at a high end restaurant! The warm bread as we wanted was a plus too. Excellent service, felt special.
This is a great private retreat resort...would be a great place to live. Amaya was a very nice dining experience. Nice grounds to walk around. $$$
Decided to stop here for brunch before heading back home from our mini vacation. The ambiance and resort is beautiful. We were originally going to stay here but decided on L’Auberge to be beach front. The dining experience is worth it especially when they have live music. Food is average, nothing really stood out. I had the crab and my husband had a simple breakfast with toast, eggs and bacon. Worth coming here for the ambiance but not for the food.
Lovely setting for dinner. Sea bass is outstanding for dinner. Staff was great.
Absolutely love this place. Try the Chilean Sea bass or the short rib.
Wonderful as always! Thank you! 😊
Nice place. Service was spotty, took 45 minutes between salads and entrees. Food was good, however the burger was a failure. Impressed that the management was aware of the shortfall and generously comped some items.
Amaya proved to be an excellent combination of good food in a somewhat informal setting. It suited us perfectly.
We took my Mom for her birthday and it was great. The service could not have been better and the food was mouth watering. The property is gorgeous. You have to take the time to walk around and really soak in how beautiful it is.
The food was not as good as when we were there in 2019. The Filet Mignon was not as flavorful as the ones we get from Trader Joes. The jidori chicken was ok, but no outstanding taste. The best thing was the gazpacho soup.
The waiter didn't really seem that attentive. It appeared they might be slightly short-handed. He was nice, but just didn't appear often enough. We had to wait for the bill really too long. All in all, just an ok experience for such an expensive place.
Kitchen was extremely slow this time. They burned my son’s pancakes to a crisp and served them anyway with the burned side down. Poor day for food quality and poor on the timing to get your food. Wait staff was pleasant but never apologized for the burned food. We were disappointed compared to other times dining there.
Amazing dinner at Amaya! Great service and beautiful setting! The Halibut was the best I’ve ever had!!
Nice service and outdoor dining experience. Otherwise, limited menu and overpriced
Love this place! The facility is truly grand and the back patio looks out over the lawn used for weddings. Excellent, simple menu and fantastic service.
The experience was nice but the oysters were bad and ribs were just ok. Not worth the price.
Insane pricing. Never paid 48 dollars for a glass of wine before... Poor quality
Excellent food and service.
We had a great time and went home very happy. Food was delicious and the service was excellent.
The Food is outstanding (maybe not haute cuisine ,but we shouldn't be such snobs ☺️) I recommend the short ribs or sea bass, both superb )In addition the service and staff are second to none.Highly recommended
The service at Amaya was excellent, our brunch was scrumptious and the setting was lovely and romantic. Our server Besim was super friendly and provided great service. The assistant manager, Carmichael, really helped make our anniversary celebration special.
