Amata Ratings and Reviews
The staff was friendly and attentive. Food was tasty and plenty of options. It was my niece's birthday, and they surprised her with fun dessert complete with firecracker candle and some singing. Would definitely go back...for both the food and the ambiance!
Had a party of six and was expecting a great dinner.
We waited 15 minutes for a server. Really most of the night never had a real server at our table.
Only after we hunted a server. We were told our server was very busy with a large party.
Some of the food was ice cold like it never made the stove.
The crab had a bad fishy taste like it was over the date or been in water.
After sending the crab back they still put it on the check.
All the food was just average or below or just not worth going back to this restaurant.
I can only say a 5 out of 10 for Amata.
Absolutely fantastic. Six of us had dinner and everyone’s food was fantastic. The service was great. We had a wonderful evening with great food, great wine and terrific host. Italian menu has all the favorites plus innovation and every appetizer, main course and dessert we ordered was exquisite . Our new favorite.
Our second Christmas Eve in a row for special family dinner. We enjoy the cozy dining room and friendly service. The special menu is extensive, and their regular menu has some favorites. We especially enjoyed the zucchini flowers appetizer and the branzino. We assured Chris we'll be back before next year!
Everything we ordered for lunch was very good. I recommend putting a bit more chicken melenese in the sandwich and a bit less of the extremely fresh delicious mozzarella. Also appetizer of cold cuts was very small. We should have order 2 or 3 for five people. We said make an appetizer “for the table” meaning enough for 5 people. We got enough for one person. A misunderstanding I’m sure.
We were here on a Sunday evening, visiting New York over the weekend. There were hardly any workers in the restaurant, so service was very, very slow. May be this was an off night for them. I thought my meal (which was shrimp scampi) was way overpriced for the very small portion I received, in a neighborhood restaurant but it did have a good taste.
We had a wonderful experience at Amata! We were suppose to be celebrating my mom's 80th birthday - unfortunately, she was not feeling well and could not come. She told us to go and enjoy dinner and a drink for her! So we kept the reservation and what a wonderful place. The food was delicious and as soon as the owner found out my mom couldn't make it, he gave us a cake and a special candle to take home and celebrate with her there! Everyone was very attentive and we look forward to coming back again for another celebration!!
The website says Amata means beloved, and I understand why this is a great name for this restaurant. My friend and I came here early on a Saturday evening before a show at Carnegie Hall. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. The food was delicious! I had chicken sorrentino and my friend had chicken martini. Both were ample portions- tender and flavorful. We were treated to cordials and biscotti with our coffee, which was a lovely way to end a delicious dinner. Looking forward to our next visit here!
Virtually empty for lunch. Not a good sign. I had the Caprese sandwich which was bland as hell and the bread was not great either. Unimpressed with the menu and atmosphere. $68.00 for 2 Caprese sandwiches, 1 salad with grilled chicken and on bottle of sparkling water. Overpriced for the quality and overall experience. Would not return or recommend.
This has become our favorite Italian restaurant in midtown. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and courteous and the food is excellent. We recommend: the Bronzino, the salmon and the beef carpaccio. The pastas also look delicious. It is also a really nice place to take out of town guests.
Bring your wallet not your appetite...when an order comes with a side vegetable or potato you don't expect the equivalent of a Costo Sample when your cruising the store.
When asked for additional potatoes we we given another bite sized thing.
When paying $22.00 for a perhaps 6 oz.piece of chicken can they not afford to fill the plate with a reasonable portion of potatoes?
Very professional and attentive staff that knows when to clear the table & when to give the guests space. The owner Chris and the GM, Jerome greet all the guests personally whether they are locals or new to the restaurant. Everyone is made to feel at home. Every time I’ve eaten here, the food has never failed to impress. Aside from the fact that my chicken parmigiana dish was a little bland this time, everything was excellent and prepared very well.
I found this to be a very good dining experience. Very good Italian cuisine. I had the Pork chop with cherry peppers and it was amazing. The homemade ricotta cheese cake was outstanding. When I was there a umber of locals were eating at the bar and it looked like a nice scene. I highly recommend.
