Excellent and authentic Italian food in an area without much beyond tourist traps and super high end options
Outstanding as always.
A professionally operated, first-class Italian restaurant of reliable quality and welcoming atmosphere.
Fantastic little eatery. Smaller portions are fresh and delicious. Atmosphere was intimate and noise was at a minimum.A+
Amata was a good choice to meet friends from out of town during the week. Food was good, service excellent, tables spread apart so we could catch up. If I have to go back to the east side I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
A neighborhood place that I'm happy to have finally ventured into. I'll be coming back. This is NOT a place for (either) tourists or local families with small children. This is a restaurant for grown-ups, and that simply means that whilst you may love your kids, if they cannot behave in a quiet, civil manner, then you should look elsewhere for dining. The food's delicious, service was fast, and professional. We were both able to enjoy our meal and conversation, and that's exactly what a good meal should entail. The person who I went with was just as pleasantly suprised, and we both plan to come here much more often.
Good good, good service and a pleasure to be there.
I thought the food was mediocre and the service was just ok
Very few places that I go I say I would never go back to...never goin back here
Excellent Italian food, and wonderful seafood, as the owner goes to the fish market to pick out the fish himself.
Very delightful dinner. Service was excellent. .food quite good. Quiet enough to talk comfortably. Overall very pleasant.
Consistently great food, great service, great drinks.
Everything about this place is amazing. Attentive staff, excellent food and calm ambience. Plus they make a great drink!
Wonderful food. The owner, Chris is amiable and always willing to please.
The seafood linguini I had yesterday was outstanding.
It always feels like home.
Wow. Wow. Wow. This was a wonderful discovery. I chose this small restaurant in midtown just because of its location--near my mother-in-law's doctor's appointment. Three of us (my niece was also there) had an outstanding lunch with excellent service. I had the tuna salad and eggplant rollatini. Both were so good! Bread was also wonderful and the after-dinner cappuccino was excellent--served with biscotti, which were also perfect. I would return anytime, making it a destination rather than a location-based choice. Can't say enough about the service--multiple people--server, busser, host/manager--were clearly intent on making sure our experience was enjoyable.
I really enjoyed our visit to Amata. The restaurant is lovely, and Daniel was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our dinner and we would definitely go back again.
Very good service, but very expensive dishes for the portion size! $18 for mozzarella caprese with 4 pieces of mozzarella and stale tomatoes?! Or $18 for 6 small clams? The food tasted good, just add more food.
Food was good, but it took over an hour for our entrees to arrive and the restaurant was not busy at all
The food is pricey but nicely prepared although my pasta with clam sauce found the pasta undercooked and needed to be sent back for a little more cooking.
If you're willing to endure very long stretches of time between being attended to by your waiter, Amata will be fine. Also, for the 2nd time, they had no record of our reservation, which was made through Open Table. I'd received the Open Table confirmation and shared it with my fellow diners, so there was proof that we'd reserved on the correct day and at the correct time.
A #1 favorite for me & my friends and many of my office colleagues. For both lunch and dinner, I can recommend Amata without any hesitancy.
Love the restaurant - one of our favorite NYC restaurants!
Fantastic as always - food is first class and service is great.
And to top it off the prices are very reasonable...
Our first time there and it was great. We were there with friends and from the time we went in we had a wonderful time. Everyone was very attentive, the food was excellent, the music was just right and it was perfect having the parking garage next door!!!
Reliably delicious, friendly and professional. A neighborhood treasure.
Great experience - love that the owner spends time with his customers. Soft shell crab was amazing
We had a terrific dinner. Great service, good food and well crafted wine list
Great food. Great service. Great everything. Eat often often for years because it is great.
Would and have recommended to friends. The food and service are solidly good and well priced.
Excellent service, not intrusive but just right!
Beautiful spot—happened to be a gorgeous day so we sat in front with window open. Ahhhhh!!!
Never had a bad meal here for years!! The service wonderful. We are always treated like family.
Wpnderful experience. The atmosphere was welcoming and the service was excellent and professional. We enjoyed our meal and plan to return soon.
Very good experience. Service attentive
Food was delicious. Portions perfect. Bread amazing. And service lovely. Just a neibirhood gem!
The food was absolutely delicious, came out fast, and was hot and fresh. The pork chop was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The spicy cherry peppers weren't too spicy; it had just the right amount of kick. My colleagues had the ziti and another pasta dish. Both said the pasta was al dente and flavorful sauce.
The service was great and is a perfect spot if you're looking for a quick and yummy work lunch.
Nice neighborhood spot with solid food and excellent service. One surprising standout: they make a great martini.
We both started with ceasar salads, then my colleague had the chicken parm and I had the scallop special. While the scallops were cooked well, there were super small, almost bordering on bay scallops and definitely not the u/10 or u/15 solid in most NYC restaurants.
Other than the size of the scallops the meal was very good.
We were a group of four for dinner. We were quite surprised when we asked the waiter what a particular entree came with. He stated that ALL the entrees came with roasted potatoes we did not want roasted potatoes. We could not get pasta with our entrees. Ridiculous. As far as service, several people came to our table at different times. We were not sure who the waiter was. In addition, one person had scallops, which she believed were frozen, not fresh. Unfortunately, she got sick that evening. We ordered a dessert, which was very small. Not worth the money. It was a disappointing experience.
Great place. Good food and quiet. I would highly recommend this place. The service was very good and the atmosphere comfortable.
