Bustling and delicious! Great menu, warm service, fun, well-paced.
Enjoyed the food and service.
Great food and service. Chris, the owner, always ensure a great experience.
Lovely evening Great service. Cozy without being crammed. Six in our party and everyone’s meal was delicious. It couldn’t of been better
Lovely ambiance, good food, nice background music and warm, caring service. We love it!
Amata has developed into one of the most professionally operated, high quality Italian restaurants in Manhattan, thanks to consistently delicious food, outstanding hospitality and warm, flexible, competent service. A neighborhood favorite with a devoted constituency in a space that defeated earlier restaurants. The classics are done beautifully and the market-driven specialties keep the menu ingeresting. Party space for 12-50 is a definite plus.
Good selection of quality food. The most memorable part of the evening was the excellent pace of service, polite, attentive and no rush. The restaurant was quiet so we could talk to our family. Food was very good to good. I enjoyed my veal but my wife said she had two shrimp in her pasta dish that was highlighting shrimp.
What a great find. Amata is delicious. The menu has a number of things on it which are unusual, which makes it a fun evening. If you don't see what you like, they will make it for you. The tables are well spaced so that the noise level is low (despite the dining room being full) and conversations are private. Prices are fair. Service can get busy, but not so much as to be annoying. I am in a wheelchair and there is ample room to maneuver around. I am looking forward to my next visit.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. Service and food excellent. Will definitely return!!
This was our first visit to this restaurant and we would definitely go back. The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing.
Outstanding cuisine, professional management and service, warm, welcome. Amata is a neighborhood mainstay.
Excellent food and service
Amata never disappoints. The owner is a wonderful man and his demeanor is reflected in every person who works there. The staff is always, friendly, attentive, accommodating and all around nice. The food is very fresh and consistently delicious. Fabulous bread too!!
Service was nonexistent. Food is bland.
Great food. Gracious service. Wonderful atmosphere.
As usual, both food and service were outstanding. This is consistent each time we come to Amata. We will continue to dine here.
Great selection of Italian food with great atmosphere.
Service was excellent, as was the food. The owner Chris stopped by to chat. We came to celebrate our move to Manhattan. We will be back.
Excellent and authentic Italian food in an area without much beyond tourist traps and super high end options
Outstanding as always.
A professionally operated, first-class Italian restaurant of reliable quality and welcoming atmosphere.
Fantastic little eatery. Smaller portions are fresh and delicious. Atmosphere was intimate and noise was at a minimum.A+
Amata was a good choice to meet friends from out of town during the week. Food was good, service excellent, tables spread apart so we could catch up. If I have to go back to the east side I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
A neighborhood place that I'm happy to have finally ventured into. I'll be coming back. This is NOT a place for (either) tourists or local families with small children. This is a restaurant for grown-ups, and that simply means that whilst you may love your kids, if they cannot behave in a quiet, civil manner, then you should look elsewhere for dining. The food's delicious, service was fast, and professional. We were both able to enjoy our meal and conversation, and that's exactly what a good meal should entail. The person who I went with was just as pleasantly suprised, and we both plan to come here much more often.
Good good, good service and a pleasure to be there.
I thought the food was mediocre and the service was just ok
Very few places that I go I say I would never go back to...never goin back here
Excellent Italian food, and wonderful seafood, as the owner goes to the fish market to pick out the fish himself.
Very delightful dinner. Service was excellent. .food quite good. Quiet enough to talk comfortably. Overall very pleasant.
Consistently great food, great service, great drinks.
Everything about this place is amazing. Attentive staff, excellent food and calm ambience. Plus they make a great drink!
Wonderful food. The owner, Chris is amiable and always willing to please.
The seafood linguini I had yesterday was outstanding.
It always feels like home.
Wow. Wow. Wow. This was a wonderful discovery. I chose this small restaurant in midtown just because of its location--near my mother-in-law's doctor's appointment. Three of us (my niece was also there) had an outstanding lunch with excellent service. I had the tuna salad and eggplant rollatini. Both were so good! Bread was also wonderful and the after-dinner cappuccino was excellent--served with biscotti, which were also perfect. I would return anytime, making it a destination rather than a location-based choice. Can't say enough about the service--multiple people--server, busser, host/manager--were clearly intent on making sure our experience was enjoyable.
I really enjoyed our visit to Amata. The restaurant is lovely, and Daniel was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our dinner and we would definitely go back again.
Very good service, but very expensive dishes for the portion size! $18 for mozzarella caprese with 4 pieces of mozzarella and stale tomatoes?! Or $18 for 6 small clams? The food tasted good, just add more food.
Food was good, but it took over an hour for our entrees to arrive and the restaurant was not busy at all
The food is pricey but nicely prepared although my pasta with clam sauce found the pasta undercooked and needed to be sent back for a little more cooking.
If you're willing to endure very long stretches of time between being attended to by your waiter, Amata will be fine. Also, for the 2nd time, they had no record of our reservation, which was made through Open Table. I'd received the Open Table confirmation and shared it with my fellow diners, so there was proof that we'd reserved on the correct day and at the correct time.
A #1 favorite for me & my friends and many of my office colleagues. For both lunch and dinner, I can recommend Amata without any hesitancy.
Love the restaurant - one of our favorite NYC restaurants!
