Amarit Thai Restaurant, located in Chicago, Illinois, serves both Pan Asian and Thai cuisine to its clientele. Japanese cuisine is represented on the menu by a list of sushi and sashimi platters. Some of the recommended meals at Amarit Thai Restaurant include the crab meat fried rice, the chicken katsu curry and the crying tiger, which is tender steak served with a special sauce.
Maki is also a big part of the menu at Amarit Thai Restaurant, as diners can choose between classic, signature and vegetarian. There are even desserts, like the moh kang, a kind of custard, and the fried banana.
One of the best Thai places I’ve been to in the city. If you have the time, seek this place out. Portions are huge and the food is so flavorful!
The sushi viva chicago roll lacked freshness factor and was prepared almost with carelessness.
The soups (chicken noodle & shrimp tom kha) were flavorless.
The service wasnt the best. Felt hurried and as if our server didnt want to be there.
Good food, large portions and quiet ambiance
always a sure bet for delicious and well-prepared food.
Food was fast, fresh and delicious!!
Always great food! Excellent service, close by and the crispy duck is a must! Took home a large chicken Tom Ka soup! Yum!
Dreadful. Simply dreadful. And I got a $65.00 ticket too.
Prices are very reasonable. They did well on the sole line entree, but their selection of noodles was very underwhelming. In addition, it seemed that every dish had some watery taste to it. I would only go back if I really needed to eat something.
My go-to dish is the spicy basil chicken. It is very good. My only issue is that they do not provide enough rice with the dish. As a result, I have to order extra rice which costs approximately $1.50 extra. Some of the staff are nice, especially the waiter, but some of the waitresses, while not mean, aren't overly friendly.
Arrived and realized it's layout is like a long rail car. They must have had trouble with heat because there were two space heaters being used and it was still chilly. That also might be why there were only a couple of other tables than ours. Food was good, had tea, no drinks but would have usually and service was good. I would return if in the mood for Thai or sushi but wouldn't go out of my way, per se.
Excellent food and value. Wish the waitress would have smiled just once or seemed remotely happy to have business on a very cold night.
First time here and my out of town guests and my kids all loved it! We will definitely be back. The Coconut Curry Shrimp, shrimp dumplings, and pad see eiw are a must!
They nickel and dime you on too much. They charged us for teriyaki sauce to put on our noodles. They wanted to charge me for a 2nd ice tea refill but backed off when I objected. We won’t be back.
Great food and service. Crab Rangoon was awesome.
Service and food were excellent
The food was very good although I would prefer that the peanut sauce have a little more flavor. Service was very good.
Friendly staff. Excellent service. Food was delicious!
My wife started with the house salad, I a fresh spring roll. The salad was good. The spring roll was different than I expected, but still was very good. The two fish dishes we had were enjoyed. I also enjoyed a ginger martini.
A nice dinner.
Sushi and sashimi were excellent, other dishes were good. The gyoza and beef skewers were really tasty and had good sauces.
Took a long time for the server to come ask us what we wanted to drink, otherwise it was good!
Cucmber salad very good, server had a lot of good suggestions.
We had about 9 different dishes and 8 were simply excellent. The hot beef on a stick was a bit charred but still tasty. Service was good. Best Thai food in the city.
We were looking forward to this restaurant based on previous reviews, but we were very disappointed. The appetizers were acceptable, but we didn't think the Entres were very good. I especially did not like the taste of the pad Thai, which is such a basic dish that it is hard to understand how they could miss on that one. Also we were seated in an area where the overhead lights kept flickering on and off. It took a while for them to notice and fix it. We also had difficulty finding it. From the address, you would think it would be right on the corner, but it is south of the 7 Eleven. We wouldn't go back.
Even though they were short staffed, our waiter was very attentive and the food was excellent!
The food and drinks were fine , if unspectacular My only complaints are that the service was slow.
I really enjoyed having dinner with my sister here. We both thought it would be nice for dates as well. She enjoyed their cocktails. I liked that they had an extensive range of seafood appetizers.
One of the best Thai restaurants in the city of chicago. Wonderful fusion with Japanese, very good sushi bar to complement the thai menu, but strong stand alone thai dishes as well. Great romantic spot as well. Quiet and good for valentines day or dates.
My wife and I were in Chicago and looking for something Asian. Found Amarit on Opentable and decided to give it a try. Local place, not at all fancy, the food however was fantastic.
We had a great time with 4 friends. It was quiet enough to hear (we don't hear well), and the food measured up to the best standard of our previous visits.
The price is right, but the food was just ok. The fried tofu was terrible and the other dishes were fair. The Tom Yum Koomb (shrimp soup) was good.
The overall feel of the restaurant could be better, you will not find any luxury nor a great wine list, but the food is very good and the staff is very dedicated to help ask the right combinations and quantities.
Very average food in this "oriental restaurant". The coconut smoothie was ok, but the main courses were, although promoted as "spicy" , very mild. I'm sure there are beter restaurants in Chicago that serve far beter Thai food!
We tried Amarit on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. Everything was very fresh and had a great flavor. We all tried different dishes and no one was dissappointed. When they make crab fried rice, it's not imitation crab, it's the real deal. Their cashew chicken was loaded with cashews. Their pork medallions were superb. The service was impeccible, food was delivered really quickly which we didn't ask for but it was lunch so they've obviously worked with a lunch crowd and know how to deliver. I would recommend Amarit to anyone looking for a good meal in Chicago for lunch. Reasonably priced too.
Was in Chicago for business and found this place great for lunch! Enjoyed the duck!
Love this place...Great good, lovely ambiance
I had lots of room to eat and others came in and had room too. I liked the
food and drinks. The food was warm and very tasty.
Food was of great quality, service was a bit slow and the environment was too simplistic for those who want to dine in style. But the authenticity and quality of food trumped everything else.
This is the first place my now wife and I ate after being married by the court. The food was good then as it is now. They have a nice patio and the inside is nice ambient and quiet. I have eaten a lot of Thai Food in Chicago and it rangs among the best with dishes for every taste - mild to spicy, beef to veggie, salads to noodles, traditional Thai dishes, specialties, and the dishes you expect.
Fried tofu adequate (had better ). Spring rolls excellent.
Tofu pad Thai very nice. Miso soup excellent.
