They made us wait 20m for our table
Magnificent outdoor seating, great location and vibe. Impeccable service, cleanliness and fresh delicious food. Very warm and friendly staff. Amaranth respects and accommodates reservations, plus tries their best to seat without a reservation.
Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Brauer said their experience was as wonderful as always!
Bernadette (Assistant to the Brauers)
great food, lovely to be able to sit outside and civilized!
We will return
Great experience! Service was amazing, delicious food. Four of us enjoyed every minute. We pick different restaurants often and this is now in top of our list. Can’t wait to go back. Very relaxing atmosphere.
We had another delicious meal at Amaranth. Bolognese, lobster risotto, ravioli, and fritto misto were
all tasty. More intimate restaurant with tables closer together. Noise level does not hinder conversation.
It’s always delicious and such attractive dining guests... a neighborhood favorite!
When soft shell crabs are in season...must try!
Dinner before Mother’s Day
Love the food l, service is great, ambiance. Very small appetizer portion. I love the meal. Will be back
When I made the reservation I asked for a candle to be on the dessert since it was a birthday celebration, I called to repeat the request the day of the reservation and again when I got there and was shown to the table. No candle was placed in the cake - very disappointing service.
We arrived for lunch on a Monday and it was packed. The noise level was bad but just got worse. The restaurant plays terribly loud canned music everytime they celebrate a birthday and this happened three times. It was impossible to have a conversation. We will never return.
One of my favorites! Highly recommend for various occasions. A neighborhood gem!
Best Salmon ever loved the crust
The perfect combination of subtle European elegance and NYC sophistication. An ideal lunch menu with options that extend from a light salad to a rich plate of pasta. Amaranth is an unassuming NY institution that's not to be missed.
Was fine except they didn’t accept my $200 open table gift. Certificate as part of payment.I was surprised. They said they have no contracts with Open table.
Always reliable in the neighborhood. Kind staff and predictable but satisfying menu.
We love to go for a late dinner. Always a convivial and good-looking crowd. One of the better steak tartares in New York. Ask for it spicy. Great fries, excellent salads, very nice staff.
Neighborhood restaurant with a nice ambience close to our hotel... we ejoyed very much our dinner. We had tuna tartare, octopus carpaccio, branzino, halibut, bass...all very fresh and healthy. Good wines and friendly service.
A neighborhood spot for us; but never "taken for granted." Every visit there is like visiting the home of a friend who is an excellent cook.
Amaranth is our favorite "Go To NYC" restaurant. An Upper East Gem and a neighborhood favorite. We always are able to get a table and they treat us like family each and every time. This time we celebrated my daughters birthday and the special attention to Happy Birthday made it perfect. Best New York City Restaurant and sometimes the place to be and be seen!!
It just works somehow. A small, special place that’s always welcoming. It should be snooty but isn’t.
fabulous! Very friendly and helpful...only glitch was my empty plate sat in front of me way too long.
Food not as good as usual.. less tasty than previous experiences
Amaranth is my favorite restaurant for everything-I life introducing my people to the restaurant. They, like me, are always impressed by the warmth of thecwelcome, the caring and attentive service and cosistentky fine food. Andfir cekebrating birthdays or anniversaries, it’s the best.
It was a “quiet” for Amaranth Sunday night. Both the food and service were terrific!
Always a favorite!
My husband and I loved Amaranthe. I was very hungry when we arrived and the waiter brought me some split pea soup. It was delicious. The chicken in lemon and capers was incredible. So tender. And the tarimisu eas fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive with just the right amount of checking on us. We liked the restaurant so much on Friday night that we returned on Saturday evening and brought friends! At the recommendation of locals we all shared the eggplant appetizer Sat night and it was wonderful. Amaranthe is a gem of a restaurant.
Great service, great food, wonderful neighborhod place.
Crowded. Tables wedged too close together. Service not very attentive
Great service, delicious food.
While I like this restaurant I would not recommend it to a friend because the noise level if off the charts.
Also, how many restaurants have a cheeseburger on their menu and then tell you that they have run out of
it at lunch?
Love this place so much. Upper east side gem!!!
It was so loud, tables were crammed together, the host was arrogant and the food was practically thrown in the table. The poor waiters looked so stress and miserable.
Food was overpriced. Little value in the small, mediocre portions. We dined early as we had a theater curtain to make. We were seated at a tiny table for two. Within fifteen minutes, another couple was seated at the next table and then another. There was no privacy for conversation. I felt like I was eating in the Port Authority. And the restaurant remained empty up until the time we left. Why should couples who dine a deux be penalized?
Love this place. Hosts are warm and welcoming, waiter was attentive and polite and the food was fresh and flavorful! It really makes zero sense why this restaurants rating is so low on yelp. I don’t get it. This place is fantastic.
This was a geographic pick based on a meeting around the corner. The atmosphere was a trip. My friend and I, both large guys were sat at a small city table. In a restaurant of about 60 people there were 6 male customers. At least this day it was a 'ladies that do lunch' place. On the food and service side, I was impressed. The prices were reasonable for the Upper East. The pasta dish I had was simple Nd perfect. I would have eaten anything on the menu. I look forward to being able to go back.
An Upper East Side neighborhood gem, with a fantastic wine list, attentive service, and terrific food. My wife and I travel to New York 4 - 6 times a year, and it is among our favorites! Love the space and love the neighborhood.
Loved dining at your beautiful restaurant! It was gorgeously decorated for New Year's Eve. Our meal was divine!
