I just didn’t find the food worthy of the prices
If you’re looking for a nice time, nice location, nice restaurant with delicious food, this is it! Curry jumbo shrimp with couscous was divine. My date had the baby chicken with roasted mustard and I wanted to eat his as well! We had a nice bottle of wine that the waiter recommended and he was on point with his recommendation. For dessert we had tiramisu and cheesecake and it was a party in our mouths! The chef there knows what he is doing 100%! Bravo!!!
Always my favorite neighborhood restaurant!
Professional and courteous staff.......delicious food.......thoughtful menus all provide an enjoyable evening.
We will not be back. Did not like the pasta, nor the risotto. The halibut was nothing special. Over priced!
Always wonderful. One of our go to restaurants every time we are in NY. LOVE IT!
My Haddock was superb. My wife ‘s seared Tuna was excellent, but was served over
lentil mush (not really edible).. so between the two average 2 and 5 = 3. Service was good, not great... on a slow night.
Overall, I think there are many better places in NYC for the price point.
Very good food and a really nice neighborhood restaurant. The noise level is usually beyond what is comfortable, but our last experience was considerably flawed by the VERY loud noise of a party of about 14 who stood around having cocktails before being seated. The restaurant should not have allowed them to treat the restaurant as a private dining room.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC! Food is amazing and the staff is very attentive
Overpriced and small portions
food and service was good but they could use a face lift. also the airconditioning was poor do to the open front windows.
We went for lunch as we do each time we visit NYC. The setting is lovely; we sat near the open window and it was relaxing. Good service and our food (rigatoni bolognese and one of the salads) was just fine.
A regular stop on our trips to New York, love the neighborhood atmosphere.
Very delicious luncheon -nice ambiance, and excellent service.very good place for two old friends to enjoy good salads, risotto, special desserts...
The food was excellent, the ambiance is fine, though marred by the over-the-top Birthday routine. My only complaint is that is is rated as $$ and it is a much more expensive menu than that, the desserts particularly seem over priced. This was not a big surprise given the location and the menu, but still, Open Table, the price rating is an easy thing to get right.
Noise level was excessive. For this reason alone I would seriously have to reconsider ever returning. Expensive meal with one of our number unable to finish the dish. Very mediocre service. Deserts were very nice.
could not hear my guest speak -- had to shout --- not very enjoyable!
Terribly overpriced for the quality of the food and the service is not of the greatest !
One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants when we go to NYC. Food and service always top notch.
A little gem in the UES that I love to visit on every trip to NY.
As always everything was impeccable. The shaved baby artichoke and avocado salad is the best. The broiled soft shell crab special was amazing. Service as always was great.
Salmon was incredible- crab salad was off the charts!
consistently good food. upmarket crowd, great European flare.
I love the food and atmosphere here. My only complaint is that once the food was served, they sort of forgot about us. We were waiting close to 30 minutes after asking for the check.
always fabulous. We were able to sit outside in the shade and enjoyed a fabulous lunch and a beautiful bottle of champagne.
This restaurant is a favorite of my mother in law, but I can’t understand why. I’ve been several times, but won’t go back by choice. The place needs a “face lift” badly as it is tired inside. The service was lacking, even though the restaurant was mostly empty when we went. The tuna tartare was so bland I had to add pepper and lemon to give it some flavor. They forgot My salad and brought it together with the main which was not what I wanted. Resting on their reputation and location
They made us wait 20m for our table
Magnificent outdoor seating, great location and vibe. Impeccable service, cleanliness and fresh delicious food. Very warm and friendly staff. Amaranth respects and accommodates reservations, plus tries their best to seat without a reservation.
Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Brauer said their experience was as wonderful as always!
Bernadette (Assistant to the Brauers)
great food, lovely to be able to sit outside and civilized!
We will return
Great experience! Service was amazing, delicious food. Four of us enjoyed every minute. We pick different restaurants often and this is now in top of our list. Can’t wait to go back. Very relaxing atmosphere.
We had another delicious meal at Amaranth. Bolognese, lobster risotto, ravioli, and fritto misto were
all tasty. More intimate restaurant with tables closer together. Noise level does not hinder conversation.
It’s always delicious and such attractive dining guests... a neighborhood favorite!
When soft shell crabs are in season...must try!
Dinner before Mother’s Day
Love the food l, service is great, ambiance. Very small appetizer portion. I love the meal. Will be back
Absolutely delicious food, great service, lovely ambiance.
When I made the reservation I asked for a candle to be on the dessert since it was a birthday celebration, I called to repeat the request the day of the reservation and again when I got there and was shown to the table. No candle was placed in the cake - very disappointing service.
We arrived for lunch on a Monday and it was packed. The noise level was bad but just got worse. The restaurant plays terribly loud canned music everytime they celebrate a birthday and this happened three times. It was impossible to have a conversation. We will never return.
One of my favorites! Highly recommend for various occasions. A neighborhood gem!
Best Salmon ever loved the crust
