We credit our success to a very honest approach to Mediterranean cuisine: a fusion of original Italian food and French food, great hospitality and the highest quality of ingredients that we use in our recipes. A large portion of specialty items that we serve are imported from Italy and France.
Our famous Focaccia Robiola, our super fresh and tasty Seafood, creative Pasta and perfectly al dente Risotto, have attracted a dedicated fan base of New Yorkers, Europeans and celebrities, who are looking for a home away from home.
Our Mediterranean Bistro has a really charming terrace during the warm season, where you can taste our delicious food or enjoy a cocktail (try our famous Frozen Cosmo!) before dinner.

It has been the worst restaurant we have visited in NYC. the food is bad and the dishes are scarce. It took 55 minutes to bring the food and the restaurant was empty. the bill was very expensive of 33 dlls for a salad and the meat and rice was not the best. 4 years ago we were here and it had been spectacular. Now I know why it is no longer among the best places. not recommendable
Lovely ambiance. Friendly. Not as organized as they are capable of.
The food is always superb, the service is extremely friendly, the ambiance is comfortable.
It’s my always reliable place to go to!
A wonderful neighborhood as well as go to restaurant.............
Prices were way too high for what we got, portions weren’t very generous, food was just average, indoors was VERY warm (no air conditioning), 1 ceiling fan wasn’t working and in general the experience doesn’t justify the insanely high prices! We won’t be back very soon!
Wonderful food ,service, ambiance… love it there! Been there everyday!
One of the most over-priced and under-whelming dining experiences I’ve had. Started with the restaurant docking us $25 each for the tiny glass of champagne that greeted us at the table and that we assumed was complimentary (we mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating a wedding). Octopus carpaccio with tiny slivers of octopus at $45. Watermelon salad with feta at $32. Fries for $12 - that never got to our table and yet appeared on our bill. And service? Non existent. Good luck flagging a waiter. Loud noise from the many Upper East Side (older) patrons. Might have been salvageable if the food was exceptional - but no better than your neighborhood bistro, folks. AVOID!
We love this place for after-theatre. The food is eclectic French/Italian. The service is great. The buzz and the crowd are always fun.
Still preferring to eat outside, when possible. Tables outside were under a canopied area, but due to the recent heavy rain, there was leaking from the tent top onto the table and chairs so we had to switch out location and chairs to be dry. Also, without a platform on the street, the tables were slightly askew and your feet were in a bit of water. Wait staff was accommodating to move us, but the ambiance is definitely not very charming outside, as compared to inside. Food was as expected, good but not brilliant, but solid. Nice evening, all in all.
Generally very good —food was outstanding -ambience a bit dated now! I have.been a customer for 20years
Amaranth is wonderful and always excellent food/service!!
The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the Chilean Sea Bass.
I think Amaranth may have had it’s day. The food was just ok. The service pleasant but often distracted. The atmosphere feels tarnished .
I was so excited to go here after seeing a friend rave about it on Instagram, however, that’s not what we experienced. I thought the overall level of attentive service wasn’t on par with the price point and location. My husband enjoyed his meal, but mine was very disappointing- a salad of two olives, two tiny slivers of orange, one cut-cut-in-half cherry tomato and shaved octopus for $30?! Not worth it at all. Sadly, we won’t be back or recommending this place to others. 😬
Wonderful neighborhood spot! Great seating and ambiance. Love their pasta and lobster dish!
Wonderful food , relaxing atmosphere & friendly service, great for lunch and dinner .
We sat inside and it was extremely hot.
good great excellent
good wine choices by the glass
our meal was really delicous Mussels & Lobster Salad
Entire dinner was great
Had an excellent time at Amaranth last night. The food was delicious, the ambiance very lively. Only thing that might need work on is maybe more staff, but it is understandable given the times we are in post covid. Will definitely be returning.
Very good except for the birthday singing with loud music disrupted the ambiance
A very nice place to have lunch-we both had salads, but they have a large and varied menu.
The restaurant was very quiet at 12:30 ,but an hour later became more crowded and a little noisy.
There are lots of options for outdoor dining, if weather permits..
the service was very fast and attentive ...
Very slow service outside, possibly due to large number of diners.
I ordered the gazpacho soup to start and the steak tartare as a main course. The gazpacho had good flavor but was very watery. The steak tartare was prepared to my spice preference, which I appreciated. However, it was room temperature at best, almost warm. No bueno.
My partner had the halibut and it was ok. The meal was pricy and not good value. We were disappointed and will not be back.
It would be nice for the kitchen to split the salad instead of us waiting for another plate to be brought 10 minutes later. I love Amaranth because it is located 3 blacks from me and i hope that I can be better treated in the future. Thank you
Splendid - was great
Excellent fish. I had the Halibut and my friend had the Branzino. Both were amazing and fresh. Great atmosphere for dinner. Expansive outdoor area.
Food was delicious… Service was awful! Had to ask for a menu, had to find a staff member to order a 2nd drink, had to flag down someone to bring our check. Everything service related was a struggle and it made for a very unpleasant dining experience! Have had such nice experiences at the restaurant before but tonight was just awful!
Fun - Vibrant - Happy place. Get place to celebrate a Birthday.
Great food coupled with great service. Well-spaced seating, too.
We had a wonderful evening here. Outdoor table on a beautiful night. The food was superb, as always. Wait staff was very attentive.
Wonderful evening as always!!
An overpriced and poorly made chicken salad. The chicken was so dry and you will think that for 35 dlls you will get something decent. It was awful and I am never coming back.
Excellent food and service, little overpriced on some items.
I like the place a lot One of my favorites in NY
Both my friend & I only ordered salads due to a time crunch.
I look forward to returning when I can enjoy a full meal and then
have a better idea of their cuisine. Lovely restaurant, very nice
staff & ambience. Also look forward to outdoor dining. As
with all restaurants in this area, pricey but expected as such.
Very good food excellent, very NYC
Love this restaurant. Wonderful menu, kind and speedy service, and general ambience good.
Recommend with confidence- although pricey.
The only problem was that they did not have my Open Table reservation. Luckily they had a spare table.
Amaranth is rated 4.6 stars by 649 OpenTable diners.
Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
