Food not as good as usual.. less tasty than previous experiences
Amaranth is my favorite restaurant for everything-I life introducing my people to the restaurant. They, like me, are always impressed by the warmth of thecwelcome, the caring and attentive service and cosistentky fine food. Andfir cekebrating birthdays or anniversaries, it’s the best.
It was a “quiet” for Amaranth Sunday night. Both the food and service were terrific!
Always a favorite!
My husband and I loved Amaranthe. I was very hungry when we arrived and the waiter brought me some split pea soup. It was delicious. The chicken in lemon and capers was incredible. So tender. And the tarimisu eas fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive with just the right amount of checking on us. We liked the restaurant so much on Friday night that we returned on Saturday evening and brought friends! At the recommendation of locals we all shared the eggplant appetizer Sat night and it was wonderful. Amaranthe is a gem of a restaurant.
Great service, great food, wonderful neighborhod place.
Crowded. Tables wedged too close together. Service not very attentive
Great service, delicious food.
While I like this restaurant I would not recommend it to a friend because the noise level if off the charts.
Also, how many restaurants have a cheeseburger on their menu and then tell you that they have run out of
it at lunch?
Love this place so much. Upper east side gem!!!
It was so loud, tables were crammed together, the host was arrogant and the food was practically thrown in the table. The poor waiters looked so stress and miserable.
Food was overpriced. Little value in the small, mediocre portions. We dined early as we had a theater curtain to make. We were seated at a tiny table for two. Within fifteen minutes, another couple was seated at the next table and then another. There was no privacy for conversation. I felt like I was eating in the Port Authority. And the restaurant remained empty up until the time we left. Why should couples who dine a deux be penalized?
Love this place. Hosts are warm and welcoming, waiter was attentive and polite and the food was fresh and flavorful! It really makes zero sense why this restaurants rating is so low on yelp. I don’t get it. This place is fantastic.
This was a geographic pick based on a meeting around the corner. The atmosphere was a trip. My friend and I, both large guys were sat at a small city table. In a restaurant of about 60 people there were 6 male customers. At least this day it was a 'ladies that do lunch' place. On the food and service side, I was impressed. The prices were reasonable for the Upper East. The pasta dish I had was simple Nd perfect. I would have eaten anything on the menu. I look forward to being able to go back.
An Upper East Side neighborhood gem, with a fantastic wine list, attentive service, and terrific food. My wife and I travel to New York 4 - 6 times a year, and it is among our favorites! Love the space and love the neighborhood.
Loved dining at your beautiful restaurant! It was gorgeously decorated for New Year's Eve. Our meal was divine!
Be very clear on what you're ordering here. There are hidden upcharges with some of the dishes. Also there are a various disclaimers all over the menu like: *Minimum $30 per person, share plates are $11.00 and they auto grat 20% on 6 or more. Definitely not 20% service. Very shady feeling.
Salmon entrees were generous and well prepared. Service was good. Fewer appetizer and entree options than we would have liked. Overall experience very pleasant.
I enjoyed the food very much.
We had a good diner here- nothing exceptional but good enough and we were satisfied. Sometimes that is all we are looking for.
A classic of the Upper East Side. Everyone should go at least once for lunch or dinner
It had been about 10 years that I had not been at this restaurant, what a disappointment. Absolutely no attention from the waiter, the host/manager I’m not sure what his role was, never came around to even ask how we were doing. They say they serve a wild king salmon and when I ordered it being a foodie and restauranteur myself, it was clearly not that. Definitely farm raised so my recommendation is to not order it. Our entrées took way too long and because we were in such a rush to get to our show at the Carlyle Hotel, I would’ve totally expressed all this and then some to the manager. This place used to be really great I think it needs some upkeeping and some major attention.
they were so overbooked we never got a table..people were rude and pushy.
Disappointing compared too many other local restaurants
It was bad on Saturday. The menus were not available right away. The fries were late and the drinks were terrible! Also, it was quite hot in the restaurant. Not happy! Worst experience in my 15 years of going!
Love this restaurant. We make a reservation here every time we visit NYC. It’s not touristy and seems like more of a locals hangout.
We know what to expect: good service, good food and a noisy and fancy ambience. I like to go for all this stuff.
We love love the atmosphere and the food is always delicious!!!!!
This is one of my favorite French in the upper east side I have been few times I love the focaccia a must try but the portions of the salads just fail me I would like better portions and presentation I ordered this time the arugula which basically is what I can do at home also I ordered the halibut which was great but again portion and presentation needs improvement
Einfach immer wieder wunderbar! Service und Speisen selbermaßen absolut sehr gut. Immer wieder das schöne Gefühl nach Hause zu kommen!
Loved the old school New York City feel. Great service and ambiance. I'll be back and recommend to everyone I know. A
Just overall great.
Great, go to Amaranth at least once a week. Manager , Luca, is great.
Nice cozy little place with good service and descent food. Worth going back
Lovely meal. Well attended. Thank you!
Very cozy long hallway sort of space at 7:30 on a very busy Saturday night with local residents, family birthday parties, etc. Drinks were good and wine list adequate. Food was very good, capreze, risotto and halibut. Seated in a small table in the middle of the long aisle we were constantly brushed by with wait staff and patrons headed back to the rest rooms. I would definitely not do that again. Beyond that the noise made it almost impossible to carry on a conversation without shouting. Despite all of that, we'll go back (with better seating) because we liked the food and caught them on a bad night.
Always love this restaurant but last night had the roast chicken which was divine! Every last bite!
They charged me twice for my meal. It is under dispute.
