I have been there before but this time just didn't like the food.
Seems like alot of the same ingredients run through the menu and if you don't like something you limits your choices. Example goat cheese, grainy mustard etc.
Just wasn't my favorite menu.
This was the first or second night of his new menu and I think there were a lot of problems with the execution of it. My friend ordered her strip steak well done and I ordered mine medium well. They both came out like charcoal briquettes. In all fairness they did make me a new one which was still over done but not as badly as the first one. I love the restaurant and will go back again. I will chalk this up to everyone in the kitchen not being proficient with the new menu.
Food and service were wonderful ...the décor needs updated ...picket fence and dried flowers on the walls just doesn't match the quality of the food.
Amani's never disappoints. The seasonal menu is both interesting, always evolving, so you never feel like you have the same options over and over. The service is very attentive and the waitstaff is exceptional at offering suggestions as well as pairings. The escargot appetizer was outstanding as well as the lamb chop special. Amani's is our go to spot for a nice date night away from the kids. If you go, I assure you will not be disappointed by this BYOB hidden gem in quaint Downingtown.
Everything from start to finish is outstanding! Amani’s may very well be the best restaurant in Chester County. They are farm to table and every aspect of their food is just wonderful. They are on par with the restaurants in Philadelphia without having to travel to the city. Their menus change seasonally and their specials change weekly. We love their craft and look forward to dining there again.
Amani’s is ALWAYS very good. The Lobster Sheppard’s Pie is scrumptious. Interesting varied menu. Never disappoints.
Not a bad restaurant but definitely not the best in Chester County, as is advertised. Two of us had fish dishes, which were good but nothing special. My partner had a special chicken and pasta dish, which looked nothing like the description. The flavor was okay but the chicken was hard to find - apparently there were small pieces in there somewhere swimming in the sea of sauce and soft pasta. I had heard so many good things so I was anxious to try it and hoped for a special meal on my birthday, but I guess my expectations were too high.
Amani's always has really great food. We started with the local cheese tray which as very good. I then had the charred octopus and halibut for dinner with my wife having a nice salad and the Caribbean shrimp. The octopus, halibut and shrimp all had too much going on, too many ingredients that overpowered the main ingredient. They were all good but they could have been great with less complexity. The peach dessert was awesome. We will definitely be back but I hope the chef takes to heart my feedback.
The food was absolutely fabulous by the noise level was painful! Will not return.
Wasn’t our best visit, but it won’t stop us from coming back.
This was our second visit in two weeks. This is a great choice for foodies, as the combinations are fabulous and innovative. The variety of unusual vegetables such as ramps make for something special. I like watching the three chefs prepare the food right in front of you. The ability to bring your own beverage assures a great experience.
This is "our" place, so we go there fore all big occasions. Always love going back!
This was our second dining experience at Amani’s. What a sweet place! Great attentive and informative service and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Docked only one star for the noise level....it’s a small venue and when it’s full of happy diners it can be pretty loud. Do yourself a favor and go on an off night..., but do go, as you’ll be glad you did.
We enjoyed another special evening with excellent service and wonderful food! They always make us feel special!
Perfectly cooked food served impeccably. My dinner companion loved the lobster shepherds pie even though it was not served exactly like a traditional pie, and I loved my perfectly cooked steak. Noise level is the only down side but I hear Sundays and midweek are less busy and therefore less noisy. We will be back for sure.
As before, Amani’s food is terrific, beautifully presented, and the portions quite generous. Get the shrimp/scallions appetizer - outstanding! Service is attentive without being suffocating. Plus we love that it’s BYOB, which really keeps the price down. My only negative is that the room is extremely noisy. Add to that the open kitchen area, with dishes, pots, and pans rattling, and the noise level at times was actually jarring. But...that won’t keep us away, we’ll be back!
My wife and I are both vegetarian, however we go to Amani’s because their chefs always create something delicious for us as vegetarians. Beyond the manner in which we are treated by the chefs the wait staff the hosts and all the employees in general provide a positive atmosphere .
Amazing. Server gave great recommendations.
I keep returning solo or with friends. I've never experienced a disappointment.
Great food as always, well prepared and cooked to perfection. Best choice.
First time visit for us. If you’re looking for an extra special dining experience, food with style and unique flavor Amani’s is your go to. We will most certainly consider dining at Amani’s again.
Always love coming here. The last time I was here the cheese plate blew us away and during this visit it was still delicious just not as amazing as our previous visits. The lobster pot pie was amazing!!
Great experience and wonderful dinner. Our family really enjoyed the entire night. Fantastic service and our meals were delicious. We would recommend without hesitation.
The entire dining experience was wonderful, as it usually is. We were seated promptly and immediately attended to. The room was cool and comfortable and the menu selection (and features) were varied and fresh. We each had three courses, all different and all delicious. We were not hurried and lingered a bit after we finished. Great place!
A little noisy but food and service were great. A fantastic find.
We went for our wedding anniversary and had a nice time. The server was a little "flighty" and kept forgetting things...I've never heard "I'm sorry" so many times...but her heart was in the right place even if her head wasn't. The food was excellent! We've been here many times and are always impressed with how John & Travis kick up their game. It's definitely a destination restaurant you should try.
I love Amanis. I look forward to their new season menus. They never disappoint. They only get better. Some of the best brunch if not thee best around
Wonderful Flavors and Service! I highly recommend Amani’s BYOB. You will not regret it!
Went for the annual Caribbean theme dinner with cocktail pairing for the 2nd year in a row.
Please keep them coming! Fun annual event!
This was our first Caribbean Night at Amani. We'll be sure to go to every one in the future! Six courses and not a single one disappointed. And the island cocktails brought me back to BVI drinking Pain Killers at the Soggy Dollar Bar. Really nicely done chef!
Never had a bad meal here and their themed dinners (this was our second) have always been a hit.
Caribbean night exceeded all expectations! As always, service and quality were great, but the special "tasting" menu took things way over the top. We packed up 2 courses to go because it was so much food. Great value! It was a nice touch that guests dressed festively for the occasion.
The specialty dinners are the best! This Caribbean meal was no exception. Delightful flavors, accented by delicious drinks, made this meal very memorable.
A nice night out; A wide variety of food/tastes.The noise level could be less but that could be said for almost every restaurant. We’ll be back!
The lobster shepherd's pie was outrageously good, Oysters Amani didn't disappoint. One of our favorite places.
Reunion. Great food
Overall our dinner at Amani's did not meet our expectations. I feel the decor needs a major updating nothing has changed since we were there over 7 years ago, to me it has preschool atmosphere. Our server was very nice and attentive, however our entrees arrived not long after our appetizers were cleared, would have liked a little more time between courses, since it is a BYO and we do like to enjoy our wine, plus the restaurant was not crowded at all. The food was good even though both our meals were on the saltier side. I did feel the prices are fair.
the place is small, it was "very warm", and the tables are close together. its not a private dining experience if that is what your looking for...but what it is, is the best food you will find anywhere near to Downingtown. I have eaten here a few times now and the food has been exquisitely perfect. the chefs are amazing and their cuisine is delectable. i highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was amazing, highly recommend going for the food, and frankly that’s what you are there for anyway! . However, we must have caught the restaurant on a night in a heat wave when their air conditioning was broken as it was really hot and humid in the restaurant. They turned on ceiling fans and moved air around but it was quite warm. I’m sure on a good day the full experience is amazing.
Appetizer was super, Mahi Mahi had no taste and keylime cheesecake had no keylime. It was so noisy I thought I was eating in a bowling alley.
