The restaurant was full but very loud. Annoyingly loud. The menu looked terrific but the preparation was just ok. We were served a bad oyster and the crab cake was fishy.
Food excellent, a bit loud for the evening.
Amani's is our local Go To restaurant for friends and business. We had an overseas business partner and two people from the Midwest and we went to dinner / supper at 7:15 this Wednesday. Midweek is not too busy. We had Strip Steak, Pasta, Fish and the fish, Arctic Char was absolutely superb. Amani's crafts its food so you get a picture on the plate with the layout like a work of art. The deserts are memorable and to sum up, you get service exactly when needed and at a price that is going to be higher than a restaurant chain but worth every penny. Weekends are busier and noisier so for intimate Dining make it mid week. Happy to commend the entire establishment, crew, food and ambiance to you.
We always enjoy the unique menu options and how incredibly delicious it always is.
One of our favorite places. The food was wonderful; I had field greens with mission figs and steel head trout with risotto. Fabulous.
"I love the relaxed feel of this restaurant – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. This is my second visit for lunch and it was outstanding. The BYOB is great. Food was delicious and the service perfect.
Imaginative and delicious food, pleasant surroundings, ample parking
We are never disappointed by Amani's and this latest visit was no exception. My mother and I enjoyed cocktails and appetizers and dessert and everything was delicious. The service was fantastic and the ambience was delightful.
Loved everything about our experience. Our food was fantastic. We were a bit over dressed due to the cooler temps and it was a bit too warm inside. Won’t make that mistake again.
Great food, appropriately priced! Wish the dining area was bigger. It's a little tight but not a big deal.
The butternut squash bisque was slightly bitter but offset with the sweetness and smoothness of the cinnamon marscapone cheese.
The Pork Belly and Grilled Oysters were both very nicely done appetizers. The gochujang and micro greens really set the pork belly off and the parmesan on the grilled oysters was decadent. Just add a hint of squeezed lemon juice to add a touch of acid to balance the richness.
The braised short rib bolognese pasta was very good and the portion was quite generous. Meaty and creamy with tons of umami to satisfy.
The open kitchen is fantastic and the wait staff was extremely attentive.
Menu is always exciting. Food delicious. And service very accommodating.
Had the 5 course pumpkin tasting menu. Amani’s never disappoints. Can’t wait for the next special tasting menu event.
Outstanding food and great service. Highly recommend.
Outstanding service, friendly and attentive. My smokes tomatoes to appetizer had great complexity and balance. Delicious. My partner's entree was superb. my shrimp and pasta entree was very well prepared but not quite as flavorful as I had hoped. The shrimp were very tasty very fresh. Not the very best meal we've ever had their but still very good.
Everything was on point. Loved the crab cakes so much. We will definitely be back. Thx for the awesome experience 😎
I wish this place was closer. We were out in that area for something else and I looked for a nice BYO for birthday dinner...kill two birds with one stone. My search landed on Amani's. The menu on line looked very good and my wife and I decided to try it. Simply excellent from start to finish. I had the Bibb Salad to start. Not something I would normally order with some of the ingredients, but I took a chance. It was excellent. So many flavors that all worked together. My wife had the Baby Arugula salad and she was equally impressed. For entrees I had the menu steak and my wife had the crab cakes. My steak was cooked exactly as I asked and was outstanding. The char on the outside was perfect. I am not one who normally eats grits and cooked carrots are definitely not my thing, but I must say I cleaned my plate. If a person will gobble up things they normally don't eat, then that speaks to the flavor and preparation of the dish. The cabernet demi glaze tied it all together amazingly well. My wife offered me a bit of her crab cake and it was also amazingly tasty. She made short work of her plate as well. For dessert I had the apple crostata. I was prepared to be disappointed since often times I've found desserts to be a weak spot when meals start off so promising. Not to worry, it was fantastic. An entire meal that is excellent from beginning to end is a difficult thing to find. We've found it at Amani's. That it is also a BYOB is icing on the cake. I only wish it was not as far from home as it is. However, I have a feeling we will make the trip again regardless.
Food was amazing. It was the perfect atmosphere to celebrate an anniversary! We will be back soon!
I have been there before but this time just didn't like the food.
Seems like alot of the same ingredients run through the menu and if you don't like something you limits your choices. Example goat cheese, grainy mustard etc.
Just wasn't my favorite menu.
This was the first or second night of his new menu and I think there were a lot of problems with the execution of it. My friend ordered her strip steak well done and I ordered mine medium well. They both came out like charcoal briquettes. In all fairness they did make me a new one which was still over done but not as badly as the first one. I love the restaurant and will go back again. I will chalk this up to everyone in the kitchen not being proficient with the new menu.
Food and service were wonderful ...the décor needs updated ...picket fence and dried flowers on the walls just doesn't match the quality of the food.
Amani's never disappoints. The seasonal menu is both interesting, always evolving, so you never feel like you have the same options over and over. The service is very attentive and the waitstaff is exceptional at offering suggestions as well as pairings. The escargot appetizer was outstanding as well as the lamb chop special. Amani's is our go to spot for a nice date night away from the kids. If you go, I assure you will not be disappointed by this BYOB hidden gem in quaint Downingtown.
Everything from start to finish is outstanding! Amani’s may very well be the best restaurant in Chester County. They are farm to table and every aspect of their food is just wonderful. They are on par with the restaurants in Philadelphia without having to travel to the city. Their menus change seasonally and their specials change weekly. We love their craft and look forward to dining there again.
Amani’s is ALWAYS very good. The Lobster Sheppard’s Pie is scrumptious. Interesting varied menu. Never disappoints.
Not a bad restaurant but definitely not the best in Chester County, as is advertised. Two of us had fish dishes, which were good but nothing special. My partner had a special chicken and pasta dish, which looked nothing like the description. The flavor was okay but the chicken was hard to find - apparently there were small pieces in there somewhere swimming in the sea of sauce and soft pasta. I had heard so many good things so I was anxious to try it and hoped for a special meal on my birthday, but I guess my expectations were too high.
Amani's always has really great food. We started with the local cheese tray which as very good. I then had the charred octopus and halibut for dinner with my wife having a nice salad and the Caribbean shrimp. The octopus, halibut and shrimp all had too much going on, too many ingredients that overpowered the main ingredient. They were all good but they could have been great with less complexity. The peach dessert was awesome. We will definitely be back but I hope the chef takes to heart my feedback.
The food was absolutely fabulous by the noise level was painful! Will not return.
Wasn’t our best visit, but it won’t stop us from coming back.
This was our second visit in two weeks. This is a great choice for foodies, as the combinations are fabulous and innovative. The variety of unusual vegetables such as ramps make for something special. I like watching the three chefs prepare the food right in front of you. The ability to bring your own beverage assures a great experience.
This is "our" place, so we go there fore all big occasions. Always love going back!
This was our second dining experience at Amani’s. What a sweet place! Great attentive and informative service and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Docked only one star for the noise level....it’s a small venue and when it’s full of happy diners it can be pretty loud. Do yourself a favor and go on an off night..., but do go, as you’ll be glad you did.
We enjoyed another special evening with excellent service and wonderful food! They always make us feel special!
Perfectly cooked food served impeccably. My dinner companion loved the lobster shepherds pie even though it was not served exactly like a traditional pie, and I loved my perfectly cooked steak. Noise level is the only down side but I hear Sundays and midweek are less busy and therefore less noisy. We will be back for sure.
As before, Amani’s food is terrific, beautifully presented, and the portions quite generous. Get the shrimp/scallions appetizer - outstanding! Service is attentive without being suffocating. Plus we love that it’s BYOB, which really keeps the price down. My only negative is that the room is extremely noisy. Add to that the open kitchen area, with dishes, pots, and pans rattling, and the noise level at times was actually jarring. But...that won’t keep us away, we’ll be back!
My wife and I are both vegetarian, however we go to Amani’s because their chefs always create something delicious for us as vegetarians. Beyond the manner in which we are treated by the chefs the wait staff the hosts and all the employees in general provide a positive atmosphere .
Amazing. Server gave great recommendations.
I keep returning solo or with friends. I've never experienced a disappointment.
Great food as always, well prepared and cooked to perfection. Best choice.
First time visit for us. If you’re looking for an extra special dining experience, food with style and unique flavor Amani’s is your go to. We will most certainly consider dining at Amani’s again.
Always love coming here. The last time I was here the cheese plate blew us away and during this visit it was still delicious just not as amazing as our previous visits. The lobster pot pie was amazing!!
