About Amanda's Restaurant
Amanda's has been delighting customers for over 20 years. Guests enter our elegantly restored brownstones and are warmly welcomed by an accommodating staff. Although geographically close to Manhattan and certainly as culinary sophisticated, we're not slow to smile and truly aim to please each guest. Highly rated by the Zagat Guide for food, service and decor, we are proud to have been named on their short list of the state's Most Popular Restaurants. Our popularity stems from the talents of our CIA-trained chef, Rodney Petersen, our dedication to warm, gracious service and the comfortable elegance of our dining rooms. Amanda's is the natural choice for so many occasions: the romantic couple on a "date to impress," a family brunch on Sunday or the place to enjoy pre-theater Early Dinner at a price that is really too good to believe. Sophisticated wine lovers enjoy our monthly five-course wine dinners.

Amanda's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
As always the service and food is top of the list at Amanda's. You are made to feel welcome and are always served a 5 star meal. The polenta is always a favorite. My rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and was top quality. If you enjoy an old fashioned cocktail try one here. My future son in law highly recommends them
Always great at Amanda's. We usually come for special occasions,
this time we came with friends for restaurant week. It was a bargain!
The Pre-Fix menu had good choices and everyone's (four of us) food was great -
from the soup and salads to the main courses (lobster, pork chop) to extremely
tasty dessert6s. Waiters were very attentive as well.
I would recommend without hesitation.
I took my husband to Amanda's for a romantic birthday dinner. It did not disappoint! I didn't want big fan fare but I did want a candle in my husband's dessert. I requested this ahead of time as to not tip him off. The waiter did just that. The Matre d' or manager also gave us a glass of champagne to celebrate. Outstanding staff!!
This used to be my favorite restaurant in Hoboken but I was very disappointed today. The service was slow and erratic; the food came out incorrect; it was very noisy and we got sat right in the aisle by the hostess station otherwise we'd have to wait for a table despite our reservation. I kept having folks knock into me as they went in and out of the front door - not to mention the blast of cool air every time the outer door was opened since the inner door was propped open. I'm not sure I'll try them again after today's experience.
Went to Amandas for Sunday brunch for my daughters birthday, not our first time there for brunch. The food was delicious, their omelets are the best. Everyone loved their meal and the price is reasonable. Had my 88 year old mother with us and the manager could not have been nicer, kept checking up on her to make sure she was enjoying herself. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have their deep fried eggs on the menu anymore, but omelet made up for it.
Went here for Hudson restaurant week, but turned out the website dates were wrong. We were disappointed, but the manager at Amanda's was wonderful in righting this wrong. He came to our table with sincere apologies and made sure to comp our drinks and our parking. We were so blown away by the service. Highly recommend! The food and drinks were great too. Overall an amazing experience and we will be back.
My fiance and I decided to try Amanda's during Restaurant Week and benefit from their offer. Like 4 other couples seated next to us, we were led to believe that the Restaurant Week offer applied to Saturday evening, when it didn't. Since we were already seated and with drinks, it was hard to just leave the restaurant without dinner. The food we ordered was good, but did not justify the price. There was only one vegetarian option. The noise level was very unpleasant and did not compensate for the good service. We will not be returning or recommending the restaurant.
Amandas is both a local and out of town favorite. It is located in a house that used to be the home of the mayor of Hoboken years ago so the venue is just gorgeous. Excellent and creative food match the impeccable service ... this restaurant never disappoints. We went to the early dinner as our friend lives in South Jersey and he was meeting us there. We were up from Florida and at our home in North jersey for just 10 days.
All three of us loved our dinners. Kudos to Amandas for their excellent cuisine and their professional service. I had the sea bass entree, my husband had the hanger steak and fries, and our friend had the pot pie which I tasted and was amazing. Always love coming here. Will return in spring .
Had a very good experience at Amanda's. Although relatively busy (it was Restaurant Week), the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is large, but there are several rooms so you don't feel you are part of a large crowd. The food was excellent. We have been there 4-5 times for special occasions and the food is always well prepared and tasty.
Their Restaurant Week menu had several excellent choices.
There was a slight glitch in the delivery of our order. It was not a big deal for me, but the staff, including the owner, were apologetic and made amends. They obviously value their customers and take pride in their service and food.
The only downside is that it is a little pricey. I would highly recommend Amanda's for that special occasion.
Atmosphere is warm and beautiful. Service was very good, prompt and friendly. Food was hit or miss. My daughter and her friend enjoyed their salmon, but my fish was dry and chewy on the edges and my husband's meat was also dry. The farro salad was pretty good, but not something I would order again. Dessert was also pretty good, but could be much better. Husband said coffee was excellent, and he is very hard to please with coffee. The wine selection is very good, and we enjoyed the bottle we ordered. I could see coming here again for drinks or coffee, but not a meal.
we have always enjoyed this restaurant so decided to try it during Restaurant week. The prix fixe menu was imaginative and quite varied. something for everyone's taste. the dorado was delicious, the lobster dish equally good, and the desserts looked amazing. We all had the poached pear, which was not too decadent. All in all, a great value for the price.
Had a wonderful experience. We were celebrating a special anniversary and requested a quiet table out of the main dinning area . They honored our request and gave us a table by the patio. The service and food was excellent and we will definitely be going back again.
We ate there last week after reading the 4-5 star reviews and were shocked. The octopus appetizer was barely edible, it was like rubber and sparse in octopus. I had salmon that was over cooked and no different than a fast casual restaurant. My date had scallops that were extremely small (they weren’t bay), over cooked, salty and dry with inedible garnish greens. The beet salad was good and the restaurant has an excellent setting for hoboken, but we won’t be back or maybe it was a very bad night for the kitchen.
We’ve always had wonderful evenings at Amanda’s on other occasions and this last dinner was such an evening as well. The service was unhurried to give us plenty of visiting time, the food was delicious, and the surroundings more like home dining than restaurant. Trip from NYC easy and direct.
